Strength:
Sturdy build, power rating, good looks in a compact package.
Weakness:
none for the money I bought this speaker because it was an Advent for $55 plus shipping at Ubid. It came in a couple days like promised and in good shape. Furthermore, with a little set-up it adjusted to my main channel speakers, Infinity ovtr 2s, just fine. I mostly use my system for 2 channel operation. It's not a CC-3 but it does a very good job for the occasional movies/concerts that I watch. It is well worth this kind of money. Watch Ubid though. They often sell refurbs at the same time as they sell new. Also, be careful on their shipping costs. They seem to change rates day to day. Similar Products Used: Infinity CC-3 |

Strength:
Great voice reproduction! Crystal clear highs and mids
Weakness:
A little weak in the bass department. I bought this speaker a week ago for $52.00 from a local Sears. What a steal! This speaker sounds as good as any center speaker I have ever heard. Believe me I have listened to alot of them the past couple of months. Similar Products Used: Aiwa center from old Pro-Logic system. |

Strength:
Cheap (from Ubid), small, looks good with the grille off, nice binding posts in back, solid.
Weakness:
NO BASS! NONE! Well, I had just gotten a Wharfedale Modus Music Center Channel from Ubid for the bargin price of $97. Problem was one speaker was broken and a corner of the Center Channel's MDF casing was gone...that sucked big time. So I sent it back after hearing the bass driver in it was broken, but sounded great in the midrange and highs. So I decided to get another Center channel after seeing Ubid didn't have anymore (read my story about this terrible Ubid service with this at the bottom) so I got this Advent CC after the advice on this site. So I got it cheap, $29 and hooked the sucker up.....ouch, this thing is kinda lacking bass is my first thought, the vocies kinda resonate a bit to much, and the highs are really screechy. I thought okay, maybe this isn't the answer for music, I could live with that but then I put in the Leathal Weapon 4 DVD with a nice shooting scene in the begining to test the bass and see if it was better in movies...nope, none, the speaker itself has like less than 1 mm excursion (that's the reason there is no bass, you can out your finger right up to it and it barely moves even when it should) and it just the most pathetic thing for movies. Over 50% of the sound in Dolby Digital or DTS come through the Center Channel so you want the best you can afford. My recommendation is pass this thing up and never look back, get a Infinity CC-3, AR2C or AR4C, or Wharfedale Center Channel but anything but this if you have a high end system! I don't know what the other people had hooked up to it on the Back-end but this is the last Advent product I'm buying for sure! Similar Products Used: Wharfedale Modus Music Center Channel |

Strength:
Good overall sound reproduction for its size. Binding post terminals on the back are rare on an item below 100 dollars.
Weakness:
Very little bass response below 80 Hz...but that is no suprise. I purchased this item from Sears when they were still available. I am pleased with the 420CC, but I modified it to make the speaker sound tighter. I opened up the hard plastic enclosure and placed thick foam behind the speaker drivers. This reduced vibrations and cleaned up some of the nasalness that the speakers produced at higher volumes. Other than that, it sounds good for its size. Similar Products Used: none |

Strength:
size, sound, durability
Weakness:
weight, but that contributes to durability Found this at Rex Audio when I was looking for an inexpensive center speaker for my bedroom system. It seemed well made, and rather heavy for its size. However it blends extremely well with my Klipsch 1.5's and I'm hard pressed to determine any change in sound quality if I play music in three logic. I do have to adjust the volume upward and that is probably due to the receiver amp distribution of power. Similar Products Used: Optimus, Klipsch, Bose center speakers |
