Has difficulty reproducing the mid to low-end frequencies.

Picked this sweet center up while it was on sale, I just couldn't pass them up at $95. The VP-50 was replacing my piece of junk Sherwood (college years) so pretty much anything was going to be a step up. While the VP-50 isn't going to give you the full-range of some pricer CC's, the VP-50 does offer a great deal as an introductory Center Channel. This is the third Axiom product that I've purchase and I can't be happier. The quality that Axiom puts into their speakers (even the entry level) is very, very nice. So if you're looking for a Center Channel for a modest HT system that won't brake the bank then my all means go for the VP-50, but, if you are looking for something more serious then just watching cable and some movies, you might want to save up for the VP-100 or VP-150

inexpensive agile great for casual listening or low-budget (dorm, bedroom or such) situation

small driver and cabinet don't deliver the good with deep male voices

I've been using them for almost 6 months. They do need about a 100 hours of burn-in. At first, I was quite happy with this speaker: it was quite "agile" (quick response and almost invisible) and the coloration is a t a minimal (if the source is good) but you can hear some sibilence in closed-mike women voice (can be the source, cuz it tends to be worse with tv news anchor women). But I must say that now, I'm a little bit disapointed. Let me explain. It started when we (daughter, girlfriend and I) listened to the Harry Potter & the sorcerer's stone on DVD. Hagrid's voice was WRONG! It just came out poorly: it was compressed, chesty (more so than the actual actors own voice) and I could hear the over extension of the driver. So I went back to my DVD collection and I started to notice the same thing (though less apparent) on most "manly"-man voice. The cabinet is just to small to really carry out real deep baritone tones. And yes my amp bass management was set correctly! So my advice: buy the vp100 or vp150 instead.
