Strength:
Reproduction of high frequencies.
Weakness:
Unimpressive male vocals, build quality. Psuedo "No-Risk" guarantee from Axiom (which is why I gave it a poor value rating). Also something to think about: Is the free shipping really free? Or is the shipping cost absorbed in the cost of the speaker? I purchased the VP150 because I was looking for a large center channel, one that would replace my "smaller" Wharfedale Emerald and one with which I didn't have to use the "small" (ie. high crossover frequency) speaker setting on my receiver. After auditioning the VP150 extensively, I felt it could not fulfill that roll. It gave me the impression of a much smaller speaker than it really was. Although female vocals were reproduced realisatically, when watching movies I found myself "squinting" to decipher male vocals. Additionally, I found that the rather bright nature of the VP150 made it difficult to truly enjoy movie dialog. As RonBoster describes, the popping "p's" and abrupt "s's" became somewhat annoying. I also don't agree with others in this forum that say the build quality is first rate. Although it is good, the veneer is not finished nicely at the edges. You may argue "well it is only $350", but my Wharfedale is finished flawlessly, has real wood veneer, sounds better than the VP150 (in my opinion), and is a fraction of the cost of the Axiom. As you may have already guessed, yes, I returned the VP150.. and ended up paying the shipping fees AND hefty brokerage fees to send the speaker back (by no means should you think that the Axiom in-home trial program is risk-free as their web site implies). Although I was hoping to eventually listen to other Axiom products that have received rave reviews, because of this experience I will never buy from a factory direct speaker manufacturer again. Strength:
Ability to clearly and loudly deliver voices in a 5.1 H/T set up
Weakness:
Powerful, can overpower the fronts if set incorrectly I got the VP150 to go with my Axiom M60s in a H/T set up. This is one powerful center speaker. I find myself lowering the center level at times. I would probably been satisfied with the smaller model but like so many of us enthusiasts I figured 5 speakers must be better than 3. The VP150 is clear as a bell. The voices from DVD movies are very intelligible. This is one heck of a lot of center speaker, it's great but can be overpowering if not monitored. Similar Products Used: Advent, AR |

Strength:
Great sound, quality product, first class company
Weakness:
None This was my second purchase from Axiom after the M60s and as with my first purchase, I was more than happy. The VP150 delivers clear and precise dialog. It is not overly large and like all of Axioms speakers, looks very nice. I purchased this speaker unheard based on all of the good reviews I had read. If Axiom has any weaknesses, it has to be that you cant just run down to your local store and give em a try. Still I decided to give it a try since they give you 30 days to try them out and send them back. I have not been able to compair the 150 to the 100 but while doing my research, it seemed everyone who owned the 100 was happy, but wishes they had stepped up to the 150 after hearing them as they sounded fuller. I didnt want that same regret so opted for the 150 right out of the chute. $350 for a center might seem slightly on the high end, but remember, with Axiom this price includes shipping, 2 day FED EX shipping! Thats pretty impressive. Their costomer service is first class, making you feel confident you have a quality product backed by a quality company. I went on to purchase a pair of QS-8s for my surrounds and am looking into the M2s for rears. I highly recomend this and product and company. |

Strength:
Very clear and articulate voicing, blends seamlessly with my mains, great power handling
Weakness:
none I bought as a package with M80s and QS-8s. This is a very good center channel. It is clean and clear. Voices are articulate and very easy to understand. While I could go into superlatives like I did in my M80 review, I would not be honest, because I have only used 2 other center channel speakers. What I will say is that the VP 150 is a better center channel speaker than the Paradigm I tried, and MUCH better than the Klipsch it ended up replacing. Similar Products Used: Klipsch |

Strength:
Great fit and finish(Boston Cherry). Dead-on accuracy, smoothness, musicality, explosiveness, dialogue. Equally at home either playing music or thundering through DD/DTS soundtracks.
Weakness:
None. I purchased the VP150SE from Marc Hallam at THE AUDIO SHOP. Got it along 2 pairs of M22ti speakers. Great clarity, smoothness, and accuracy from this speaker. Along with the M22's it creates a wonderful soundstage in my 22x18x12 living room. The VP150 is very crisp, and detailed at high and low volume levels. It is sweet and authoritative with music, and can handle anything you throw at it--great dialogue handling with male or female voices, and downright explosive when the action starts flying on Dolby Digital and DTS soundtracks. Yet it maintains a certain refinement all the while that belies it's price. Thanks to Marc H. at the Audioshop, and thanks to Axiom Audio for a wonderful product. Similar Products Used: NHT VS1.2a |

Strength:
The design allows for placement on top of or below the TV. Blends well with the M60's in terms of imaging.
Weakness:
Thin and bright sounding. I heard Poping p's and bright "ssss." The VP150 SE does not live up to the other speakers that I just purchased in the Axiom line. I was replacing the Atlantic Technology 350 series speakers. My Axiom purchase consisted of the VP150, M60's, QS8's and the M3's for rear center surround. I think all of the speakers listed with the exception of the VP150 out perform the AT's 350 series in clarity, imaging and detail. They are terrific speakers. The VP 150 is a let down vs the AT 351 center channel. Both are $350, but the AT center produces very natural sounding vocals....where the VP 150 sounds thin and bright. Another thing I noticed was the vocals sound like a the actor is speaking into a mike without the foam cover (forgot the name), which produces the "poping p's and bright SSSS." Now it's not so bad that it is unlistenable, but it's stands out (and not in a good way) vs other Axiom speakers that I purchased. Similar Products Used: Atlantic Tech. 351 center channel |

Strength:
Everthing. Clarity, detail, sound dispersion, tonal balance, magnetic shielding, seamless integration with the other speakers, efficiency, the customer service... THE PRICE!!!! I could go on and on! Just buy it. 30 day money back guarantee as well!
Weakness:
None. This is, no joke, the best center channel I have ever heard... Okay, maybe something that''s $25,000 could beat it, but I have never heard a $25,000 center channel. SPEAKERS THIS GOOD SHOULD NOT BE THIS INEXPENSIVE! My oh my, this is the best center channel I have ever heard, regardless of the price. I would recommend it to anyone. Along with the M22''s, movies and music will come to life coupled with proper electronics. Similar Products Used: Paradigm, Athena, PSB, Mirage. |

SIZE!! I just got this on Saturday, this center it huge and has an extremly clear sound, I ran it in a few hours befor some movie watchin. What I really noticed about this speaker is how well it reproduces male and female vocals and music. The vocals where dead center never moved and it created a seamless blend with my M22ti. Strength:
Very impressive Sound
Weakness:
None This is one of the best sounding Center Channel Speakers that I have heard. One would pay a minimum of $500 for a similar quality speaker. I am playing my whole CD collection again. This speaker does a wonderful job for both music and Hometheater. |

Strength:
Clarity, Lack of boxiness
Weakness:
None Once again Axiom has created a high quality speaker that is equal to or better than all of the center channels I've auditioned. These include the B&W CDM CSE, Paradigm Reference Studio CC, and Definitive Technology C/L/R 2000. All of these speakers are excellent in my opinion, but for the money, the VP-150 can't be beat. It is a fairly large speaker, which is one of the reasons it sounds so natural. The VP-150 uses the same silky smooth midrange that has garnered so many positive reviews of their other speakers lately. The sound is clear and uncolored without the boxy sound that plagues so many smaller center channel designs. Together with my Axiom M80Ti's and QS-8 Surrounds, the VP-150 sounds so right that I forget it's there and find myself much more immersed in the movie. This is a great sounding center channel that won't disappoint you. Similar Products Used: Paradigm, Def Tech, B&W, Cambridge Soundworks |
