Strength:

bass response, clarity of midrange and tweeter, black gloss endcaps, built like a brick house

Weakness:

none like all definitive speakers

I cannot say enough about this great center channel speaker. I used to have the clr 2002 and wanted a little better bass response and a little clearer sounding vocals, so I bumped up to the clr 2000. What a difference, it was like night and day. The clr 2000 has great bass response and the sweetest sounding tweeters. This thing is extremely clear sounding on vocals. Another plus is the elegant looking gloss black endcaps, not only does this thing sound fabulous but it also looks it too. This speaker is built like a rock. Don't try to save yourself $100 and get the 2002, because that is what I did and regretted it. Spend it and get every penny's worth by getting the clr 2000. Once again, another great sounding speaker from a company that makes great products.

Strength:

It's been said before but clarity is what it is all about in center channels.

Weakness:

I haven't found any.

Every A/B test I did I couldn't get over how much better this speaker sounded. The sound is so natural and clear it even makes some of the worst sound tracks understandable. Good natural bass.

Huge value. I have the CLR2000 mated with Deftech's ProTower 400s in all 4 corners and a PF15TL sub (which was purchased before the 400s).

got is along with BP2000TL for main and BP10B for surround. The CLR2000 is a very nice centre, my original plan was to get the 2002 setup (CLR2002, BP2002TL, BP6B) but after I auditioned the bigger speakers, I had to go with them (it's that macho thing). I still need to break in the centre more to rubb off some of the harshness of the tweeter but over all, I am very happy

I purchased the matching center channel speaker, C/L/R at the same time I got the BP 2000s and the BPXs rears.
The 2000 C/L/R Center channel speaker is an excellent speaker. It's great on male and female voices, has extended bass, and is a super match to the BP-2000s tower speakers. The sound stage is great and when something moves from Left to right or right to left, the timber match is exceptional.

What is bad about it, it's heavy and large, but stiff fits atop my 31" screen.

Don't save $200 or $250 by buying the new 2002 C/L/R, their is a sound difference that I detected...the bass is not as solid and on music, the 2000 just sounded better.

Strongly recommended. It's bi-wireable and has adjustable feet so you can increase or decrease the angle to the viewer. On Dolby Digital or Dolby Surround it carries the sound stage with no problem Remember that 70 to 85% of the sound from DVDs or tapes come from the center channel. Don't go cheap on your center channel.

I have also heard a system using this speaker for the font three, really nice job. Used with a FAST subwoofer and you have a great system. Strongly recommended.

This center channel mates very well with the BP2000TL's. The entire home theater experience (with BPX or BP2x surrounds) is tremendous.

After spending lots of time I mean lots of time reading reviews and auditioning speakers I couldn't find any better center cahnnel speaker than the CLR2000. Natural and clean sounding.

This is a very nice center speaker.
It weighs a ton so it must go on top of an entertainment center and not the TV [although a Rear Projection TV should be able to handle the wieght].

This should not be a problem though because it [as well as the 2002] has fantastic imaging.

It's a very smooth, warm sounding speaker with a nice bass punch for home theater. It handles dialogue sibilance well. [If you like bright and punchy then look at Paradigms].

It is still considered a small speaker because it does not have a built-in powered sub.

There is a difference between it and the 2002 - the 2000 has 6.5" bass/midrange drivers that deliver the bass that is lacking in the 2002.

I use this with the Pro Cinema 200 set-up belive it or not - the center channel anchors 70-80% of a film soundtrack wether it's Pro-Logic, DD mono, stereo or 5.1 or DTS. So it was worth the extra money for a center and still be within a modest [$1,900] budget.

It works suprisingly well with the Pro Monitor 200's as fronts, 100 [125W] powered sub and Pro Monitor 100's as rears.

Of course it will sound outstanding with 2000 towers and BP-X rears if you have a more aggressive budget.

This center was obviously much better than the Pro Cinema 100 center, the C2 center and the 2002 center I had auditioned on loan from a local stereo store.

Well worth a listen no matter what set-up you're considering.

I have had this speaker for a year now and originally wasn't very impressed. I have recently upgraded to a Parasound pre-pre and have changed my mind. I was using preamp outputs on a receiver so I didn't think the sound would differ thatmuch with the pre-pro but I was wrong. I am very impressed with the clarity this speaker has on vocals. For proper imaging purposes, I based this purchase on my decision to buy DT's 2002. When shopping for the pre-pro the only centers I heard comparable was Paradigm's reference series.

Strength:

Clarity

Weakness:

Size

When I started down this HT road, I didn't realize the importance of the center chanel speaker. I went and bought the Def Tech C1 to go with the BP10s for mains. 2 days after buying it, I was ready to trade it in. Finally, after months of work on the S.O., I got the OK to make the deal.

Oh my god am I ever glad I did!

I just cannot say enough good things about this speaker. The clarity and responsiveness of this speaker need to heard to be believed. I was going to upgrade to the CLR 1000 but when I did an A/B test of the two, there was no comparision. Voices sound great and there is enough bass to give a completely natural sound. In fact, this speaker sounds so good, it's showing up the weakness of the BP10s!

I don't think you can find a better speaker for the money. It was $575 at Gary's Electronics in State College, PA. With the trade in of the C1 (he has an upgrade policy), it was $350 out of pocket.

Strength:

It has a great sound.

Weakness:

It's big, very big.

I recently decided it was time to upgrade my center channel to match my Definitive Technology BP-30's. So, I spent half a day at a local audio store comparing the CLR 2002, 2300, and 2000. Comparisons were performed on music CD's and DVD's.

I found very little difference between the CLR2002 and the 2300. I did notice a significant difference when I heard the 2000. At the store, after many A/B comparison tests, I narrowed it down to the 2000 or the 2002. I didn't think the powered sub in the 2300 really added that much to my system.

I brought home the 2002 and the 2000 for home tests. Again using CD's and DVD's, I conducted many A/B tests and decided that I preferred the 2000. However, I fully acknowledge that I would also be perfectly happy with the 2002.

If you've got a big entertainment center where you can conceal the huge CLR2000, it's a great speaker. If it's too big, don't hesitate to purchase the CLR2002.
