This is DT new center just got it 3 weeks ago after listening to all the major mfgs. all I can say its the best sounding center around in its price range.I have auditioned b&w's (I have the DM601 for the front, Igive 5 stars for them)it was a bit soft for my taste so was the Paradigm, Infinity cc3 too bright.
This speaker has the best clarity even at low volume and crisp sound.
I recommend it highly.

I read that 80% of a movie soundtrack comes out of the center channel. So I wanted to get this speaker right, even though I was building a home theater system on a rather small budget.
For sheer price/performance, it came down to choosing between an NHT system and Def Tech's Pro Cinema system.
I tried the NHTs first. NHT VS-1.2a for the center channel, and SuperOnes for fronts. The SuperOnes were outstanding, the VS1.2a was pretty good. But I wanted something with a bit more dynamic range for the dialogue, something that would make, say, James Earl Jones' voice really rumble.
So I got the Def Tech ProCenter C2, the bigger center channel, even though I was matching it up with the ProMonitor 100s for the fronts.
Love it. Sounds great, dialogue is deep, clear and powerful, not too bright or anything.
The ProMonitor 100s are pretty good, although I do miss the wonderful clarity and soundstage of the NHT SuperOnes.
However as I mentioned, the priority for me was the dialogue channel. In the final analysis, for a hybrid theater/music system, I think I got the best possible combination for not a lot of money. Added a ProSub 100 and the whole thing just rocks.

I originally purchased the ProCenter 100 last month. After having it for a couple of days, I noticed that it a defect in the tilting screw on the underside. Just when I was going to get a replacement, I read on this website that DefTech came out with a ProCenter C2. So, I did an exchange.
As James Earl Jones said in 'Hunt for Red October' describing the aforementioned ship, "Big son of a b****!" Well, putting it on top of a 20" makes me think it's big. Anyway, the sound of it was better than the 100. Very clear, articulate, no signs of distortion, good build quality, and sound is detailed without being to bright. Handled DVD's such as Top Gun, Face/Off, Armageddon, and the DTS movie trailer with authority. Harrison Ford's voice in Air Force One came through naturally. Even the Criterion 'Hard Boiled' DVD sounded good; the sound is Dolby Digital Mono with all the dialogue, music and effects mixed into the center channel.

My system is anchored with the Kenwood VR-2080 Processor (despite all the negativity against the remote, I like it). Anyway, I won't tell you what fronts, rears, and sub I'm using because they kinda suck, and I'll be getting all of those replaced very soon with two pairs of DefTech ProMonitor 200's for front and rear duty, and one or two M&K MX-125 Mark II subs. I plan to get one pair of the DefTech's in a couple of weeks. When I get those going, I'll post a review.

Strength:

Beautiful sound. Ability to compensate for any shortcomings your other speakers may have.

Weakness:

none. If I were to be really picky....The adjusting post seems flimsy, and the grill is tough to get off. Why I need to take it off I don’t know????

I am in the process of building my home theater as money allows. I finally went from an ok system to one that truly sounds beautiful, thanks to the Definitive Pro Center C2. Truly Incredible~!! It sounds best when matched with other Definitive speakers, but has the capability to compensate for any shortcomings your other speakers may have. I have it with a pair of Infinity RS3’s which sounds good but I will be making the move to a complete set of Definitive speakers. If you get a chance, go listen to one of these speakers or any Definitive Centers (this is the one I could afford) you will see what I mean. Trust me, I have done the research for you this is the one to buy for small to mid size home theater systems.

Strength:

Clear, accurate and wide range

Weakness:

None so far

With the newest advancements in sound reproduction technology are being made in the field of DVD audio (Dolby Digital, AC3, DTS etc.) I have been forced to reconsider the importance of a center channel. The newest mid to mid-high class pre-amps have put their emphasis on Surround Sound features. This has directly affected my audio CD collection. With pure “stereo” taking a back seat to 5:1 sound reproduction, I have to rely much more on my center channel than I did just a few short years ago. Accepting my fate, I did some research on moderately priced center channel speakers. My Pinnacle AC Center was just not up to the demands of the wider range DVDs and digitally recorded or re-mastered CDs. The Pinnacle was too bright and I needed more clarity and greater accuracy then it could provide. The Definitive Technology ProCenter C2 had the performance I needed in the price range I was looking for. I am very pleased with its abilities and would strongly recommend it to someone in my position.
