Strength:

Great sounding center speaker!

Weakness:

None.

The quality of the sound from this speaker is superb. I bought this speaker on the strength of the reviews on this site. It fits nicely on top of my old 32" Sony XBR TV. I have it biwired and it is terrific. I am planning to get another one for my center rear channel. Everything they say about its sound quality is true.

Strength:

Excellent Sound

Weakness:

End Caps [mine are somewhat loose]

A large, heavy, and rock solid center speaker. Mine is bi-wired with Audioquest Type 6 and driven by and Adcom GFA-6000 [100watts]. The sound is excellent and matches my C-6 fronts very well. This speaker needs a high power amp [same as the C-6's] to satisfy its power requirements. It also requires a substaintial area to sit; IT will NOT fit on top of my television [32" Sony Wega] because of the depth of the speaker.

Strength:

Smooth Sound, Articulate Voices, Seamless Soundstage. Good off axis response, crystaline highs, very pleasant mid and lows.

Weakness:

Cheesy side panel mounts, No in-package documentation.

This speaker is about $100 more than I wanted to spend but after one listen, I couldn't resist. I listened to Mel Gibson in BraveHeart and I felt like I was in the castle with him. Wow. I brought this baby home and listened to Ricky Lee Jones and Wow what sparkle and presence. This is not only a center channel speaker, but a very musical speaker as well. As far as low priced center channel speakers, I don't think there is anything in its class. Even the higher priced Polk or Infinity or Kef speakers suck in comparison. That's Suck with a capital "S".

Do a side by side comparison with all speakers up to $600 and you will see.

Strength:

Balanced across the entire frequency range, good dispersion.

Weakness:

Big. Wrap-around grill and end system a little weird but still classy and acoustically functional.

One cannot underestimate the importance of the center channel in 5.1 surround. I believe it to be far more important in creating a believable experience than any of the other channels especially in dialogue heavy movies. DO NOT SKIMP on quality.

The AC-300 is near ideal. For the price, the sound is exceptional and will compete with rivals costing double. Consider buying 5 of them, one for every channel for perfect immersion. Much, much better than the Take 5 and Encore, they have a wide frequency range and are completely transparent throughout.

Barring space issues (this one's big), this is one of my most pleasing purchases.
