errrr... cheap? And I mean that in regards to more than just the price...
Weakness:
NOT VIDEO SHIELDED, poor sound to boot. Metallic highs, tweeter was maxed about 14 seconds into the first movie I played, no midrange or bass at all. WARNING: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, IT IS NOT VIDEO SHIELDED! I read all the reviews on this site prior to purchasing this item, and read a few of the reviews that mentioned poor video shielding. I went ahead and bought the speaker anyways because I have other N series speakers that I love (ND310s and a PB10). What a mistake. The item isn''t properly video shielded, it distorts color in th right corner of my 32"Panasonic tv. Besides that it sucks as a speaker. It''s flat, tinny and very very poor at producing a convincing soundstage. It is a terrible match with my magnificent ND310s, they just totally overpower it. Sorry, but you should spend the extra cash to get a real center channel, not this cheap-o plasticky relic.r Similar Products Used: JBL nd310s, polk, sony |

Perfect sound from movies and music. I actually can enjoy my DVD''s over again.
Weakness:
The bass is a bit high for dialog. Still need to figure out how to decress the bass. But perhaps using this speaker in a small room doesn''t help either. I just received the JBL N-Center this week. I was so happy to get this at the price considering JBL lists the SMRP at 199.00. Overall the speaker is excellent. I love the way it looks and sounds. I''ve listen to Janet Jackson''s Velvet Rope concert on DVD and she doesn''t sound whispy as when I was using the KLH center speaker. But go figure. I currently have two Yamaha bookshelf speakers as the main and two small KLH speakers as rear and have had them for almost eight years. I just placed and order with Harmon Audio for two JBL S26 speakers and can''t wait to hear how they''ll compliment the center. Getting ready to get rid of KLH for good. Using the speaker with a JVC X9000 DTS receiver and the sound is excellent. You can''t go wrong with this speaker, especially considering the price as compared to the S-Center. dual 5" drivers (some inexpensive speakers only have one). good dialog reproduction.
Weakness:
plastic cabinet. speakers are aimed slightly up so when positioned on top of my big screen I have to put a shim under it to aim it slightly down or flat. I purchased this speaker to match my other JBL northridge speakers. The speaker blends great with the JBL N26ii that I use as my front mains and the N24AW that I use in the rear. great price!!my system: tv: mitsubishi 55" HDTV Reciever: Yamaha 5440 (65Wx5) DVD: Sony nsp700 Speakers: Front main: JBL N26ii Center: JBL N-center Rear sorround: JBL N24AW Subwoofer: Yamaha yst 305 (dual 8" 200w) Similar Products Used: none |

Strong, brilliant sound with crisp highs.
Weakness:
Not completely magnetically shielded! THIS SPEAKER IS *NOT* COMPLETELY SHIELDED!!!! It''s unbelievable but true. I have tried many different center channel speakers on top of my TV but this is the only one which changes the colors on my screen in the upper right corner of my Toshiba 32" TV. The right side of the speaker is leaking the magnetic field. How could JBL allow such a fatal flaw to be part of a center channel speaker? Similar Products Used: Polk Audio CS175 |

Strength:
Cheap and good sounding.
Weakness:
Doesn''t blend 100% with the N24s. A surprisingly cheap and good center channel, although it doesn''t blend with the N24 perfectly. It can play loud, very loud. Similar Products Used: JBL N24. |

Great Highs
Weakness:
Non wooden casing A good center speaker though not up to the mark compared to the previous JBL center speakers (JBL-MR center) that had wooden cabinets. This shows up in at high volumes where the entire speaker vibrates. Sound quality is great and again lacks a bit clarity compared to my earlier JBL MR-series center. Very good sound from small unit. Fits and looks good on top of TV. Good price at Shop4.com. Alot cheaper than Best Buy. Wish I would of known back when I purchased unit.
Weakness:
Tweeter blew on mine but, more or less might have been my fault. I had the bass up fairly high and Onkyo might be a little too powerful for it Very good center channel for a smaller type speaker set-up. The tweeter blew a few months ago an is being replaced at the authorized repair shop. I opted for the S-Center which can handle the higher wattage. No problem''s there but, when I get the N-Center back it''s going to see the 32 inch television theater set-up in the bedroom. About the shielding, I''ve had no problems at all with any of the JBL center''s that I own on ether televisions. Just keep the bass down on the N-Center and you''ll have no problems at all. When given plenty of clean wattage it performs to it''s fullest! 5 way binding posts.
Weakness:
Needed a better bottom for sitting on the TV. Not bad, but you may need to tweek with rubber feet underneath it. With my Denon 3801 it sounds beautiful, Much better than I could have ever imagined. No matter what if you give any of these JBL series good clean wattage, they hold their own to much more expensive models. It''s nice to see better quality comming back to JBL! Good overall sound and value
Weakness:
Too bright highs(great for home theatre) I like this center channel. I personally think it has great bass for the small drivers. If you want bass, why the hell would you buy a center channel anyway?? The highs are a bit bright with music, but again why would you use this for strict music? I am using this with B&W DM 302 and love the result. I think this matches better with the B&Ws than with the CC3 that is "matched" Good buy. Similar Products Used: B & W CC3 |

Clean spoken voice reproduction & neat look
Weakness:
Weak power handling A good center channel speaker for the money, the N-Center was worth about what I paid for it. Overall, the speaker has performed nicely, though I run into problems with the power handling. I cannot tell if this unit is blown or not, but it certainly is not the most rugged center channel ever made! Despite this setback, the N-Center is easy to work with and has performed nicely for an audio enthusiast on a tight budget. Similar Products Used: Pioneer center channel |
