Strength:
Excellent balance. Natural reproduction of voices. Wonderful imaging.
Weakness:
I would say the size, but the large size is what caused me to try the center channel stand....so I'm not sure I can classify this as a weakness since it sounds even better on a stand. I started off almost a year ago with two Atoms as fronts and a CC-70 in the middle (obviously nothing fancy). Just recently ordered a pair of Monitor 5 V.2's off Ebay, and thought I would grab a new CC-370 V.3 and break it in in the meantime. I knew it would be an upgrade over the CC-70, but I am literally blown away at the difference this one upgrade has made. I have decided to place it on an 18" center channel stand in front of the entertainment cabinet (won't fit anywhere else!) and it just rocks. I told my wife the best word I could think of to describe the difference was that all of a sudden our dvd's came "alive". We have some in the library that I really was not fond of watching because the audio clearly was not as good as some other discs....but now even the bad ones sound good! I have been watching dvd's over not because I wanted to see the story again, but because I am enraptured with the way they sound over this speaker! I can only imagine what this system will sound like when the Monitors arrive. |

Strength:
Well-built, high-quality drivers Cristal clear highs, solid mid's and bass Bidding Posts
Weakness:
None... In the $300-$400 range for a center channel speaker, it doesn't get better than the CC-370 v2 (unless you can get a Paradigm Studio CC v2 for that much...). Dialogue and center channel effects come loud and clear and it is perfectly (timbre)matched with all Monitor Series speakers from Paradigm. Strength:
The previous poster described it well. This unit does everything well.
Weakness:
Can''t find one yet.... I was leaning originally leaning towards the CC 170. Actually I was in the audio shop, waiting for the salesperon to bring me the 170. As I browsed, another salesman was demonstrating something for someone. I just happened to be standing in front of the demo CC370 when the other salesperson played the ''THX Theme'' at about 100 watts+.... The sound exploded throughout the listening room. Long story short is that when my salesperson returned with the 170, I promptly said - bub-bye to it. I left with the 370. Since then, no regrets. Similar Products Used: Paradigm Monitor series. |

Weakness:
NONE I had always heard good things about Paradigm, but I have to admit, I bought this speaker without ever actually hearing one perform. Fortunately for me, the pages of audioreview.com don''t lie. Paradigm truely makes an incredible speaker. This model and I''m sure all the others, deserve the high marks they receive from reviewers. I''ve read a number of reviews stating that things can be heard in soundtracks and passages in long favorite music recordings, when "reproduced" on the CC-370, that could not be heard when being "played" on other speakers. This is absolutely true. Many fans of Dolby digital truely appreciate the high dynamic response range it offers. There is something about going from "pin drop" silense to "a freight train in your living room" in a split second, that gets the hair on the arms standing straight up. Imagine if you will, a center channel speaker that can accomplish this on it''s own. Not only does this speaker reproduce sound flawlessly, it can do so with a tremendous roar. I''m not recomending that you buy one of these speakers and immediately "attempt" to destroy it by maxing out the volume on the "lobby scene" in the Matrix. But if you were so inclined, the Paradigm CC-370 would deliver. Just make sure you buy yours at a factory authorized dealer. A great deal is not so great if you get no warranty with your purchase. Why buy a great speaker with what amounts to a hidden "as is" cluase. I did do some research beyond the pages of audioreview in an effort to find the best speaker for my needs. I discovered that in this class, centers for the most part, are monstrous in size. This brings me to one important fact, the Paradigm offers perhaps the lightest enclosure available for a speaker system with two 6.5 inch woofers and a one inch tweeter. It weighs about 25 pounds - thirty or more is average in this class. It may be best to avoid placing 35 pound objects on top of your ABS plastic RPTV. But don''t be concerned about build quality. Although it can be classified as lighter than others in the class, the build quality is "tank" solid. This speaker does offer an impressive "heft quotient". One more note; pictures you''ve seen on web sites do not do it justice. - It is aesthetically beautiful. Similar Products Used: Polk center |

Strength:
Voice reproduction, clarity, build quality
Weakness:
Long break-in period; speaker sounds weak and "hollow" for the first 20 hours or so. This is an excellent, high-quality center for those on a moderate budget. Note that this is the more recent version 2 model. I was originally looking at the Polk Audio cs400i, but decided on this after a few friends recommended Paradigm and I gave it an audio test. Paradigm Monitor series speakers were also recommended by The Perfect Vision as the best low-budget home theater speakers (by audiophile standards anyway, meaning under $2,500 for the whole set). I got a great deal during a sale at 6th Ave Electronics, but I did have to haggle a fair bit to get it. It was definitely worth it, though, as they went $50 lower than the only other authorized dealer in the area. The sound from this is just incredible. Dialog is crisp and extremely clear, and even things happening in the background are much clearer. I played The Matrix after getting this and setting it up, and not only could I hear the music playing in the background during the club scene, I finally recognized it as "Dragula" -- the lyrics came through crystal clear behind the actors'' voices. It''s taken about a month of continuous use on TV, VCR, and DVD playback for this speaker to fully break in. And it got a LOT fuller and louder after the break-in period was finished. When I calibrated the speaker after first buying it, I had to boost it by +4dB. I just recalibrated it to account for the break-in time, and now I only need +2dB to get it matched up with my front output levels. I used an SPL meter for the calibration, and it''s worth it for the seamless sound stage I get. The speaker is large and heavy, which is a good thing. Sitting on top of my entertainment center, there''s been no vibrations or other problems that could happen from it being too light or poorly build. This is my only Paradigm speaker, but it matches very very well with my Allison Acoustics AL115 fronts (which for all intents and purposes are identical to Paradigm Monitor 3''s). My system is as follows: Onkyo TX-DS595 A/V receiver Sony 27" Wega TV Sony DVPC660 5-disc DVD/CD changer Sharp Stereo VCR Allison Acoustics AL115''s for fronts Paradigm CC-370 v2 Center Advent Baby II''s used for surrounds No subwoofer (yet -- plan on buying a Paradigm PS-1200 next year) Similar Products Used: None -- first center I''ve owned |

Strength:
Dialogue is crystal clear. I can hear stuff that never came out in movies before. Very good frequency response.
Weakness:
My stereo had plenty of power before on that crappy JBL center. Now, To get the same decibel level I have to turn the stereo about 3 "dbs" higher. Oh yeah...it''''s so big I will have to build something for it to fit properly on the TV Holy Crap! This is the last center channel I will ever own. It is amazing! I have the v2 not the v1 Similar Products Used: NONE!!! I moved from a bottom of the line JBL Flix center to this!!! |

Great match for Monitor line. Reasonably priced. Great speaker, I upgraded from the old CC200 and it is a perfect match for my mini monitors and definitely adds more depth to both music and movies. |

Exceptional speaker for the price, I cant wait untill the rest of my Monitors show up in my living room.
Weakness:
None so far, but I''m new at this. It does require a little more "ooph" from entery level recievers. I''m a new audio enthusiast, and after shopping for a system for close to a year, I decided to go with a Paradigm monitor system. I auditioned everything that I could get my hands on (read JBL to B&W and everything in between), and given the quality, the reviews, the price, and over all the sound, the monitor series was it. After replacing my sony (I know I know-that''s why I''m upgrading) with the 370 I almost wept. I literally called my girlfriend up at 9:00 Saturday morning to come over and hear it. It was the missing link. My Movies and DVD-A sounded incredable. The sound stage that it added was insane...This speaker dissapeared completly. I was in love, and my girl frind (who has a JBL studio based system-and who drew me into the audiophile world) continually told me that I sucked (it''s a good thing). However, I have noticed that I had to realy crank up the levels on my center canel in order to get it to blend in as well as it does. I blame this on my Technic SA-DX950 reciever. (100 watts per channel my aunt petunia). For the first couple of weeks I listened to this sucker without the grills, but as she mellowed out I was able to drop the center channel levels and put the grill back on. I love this thing! So with my kornerstone layed, I''ll be updating my systemfro this: Reciever: Technics SA-DX950 Center: Sony SS-CN495H Fronts: Infinity Monitor 150''s (though their 15 inch subs will be missed) Surrounds: Cerwin Vega LS-5 Reciever: Denon 3802 Fronts: Monitor 9 v2 Surrounds: Mini Monotors Thanks Again for all of your reviews, and to my local dealer! Strength:
Crisp, clear, wide sound. Well matched for ANY monitor series speaker.
Weakness:
none thus far... I just traded in my CC-170 that I was using with my atoms. a few months ago, my buddy sold me his mini monitors, and the center just didn''t blend as well... i set it up with Video Essentials, and there was no luck in a wider sound. So now I own a cc-370. I have listened to this speaker MANY times, and the only reason i never bought it was because i only had the atoms at the time. now it blends much better with the minis. i''m still breaking it in, and i know it only gets better. paradigm is my FAVORITE speaker manufacturer... they have once again out done themselves... Strength:
quality of construction, dynamic frequency range, price/value
Weakness:
may be too large for some applications; may have to propped up in the rear to orientate the drivers to the listener This is a very high quality, reasonably priced center channel speaker that is exceptionally matched with other Paradigm speakers, but would serve well in other applications. Because Paradigm manufactures in Canada, price, especially for Canadians or U.S. citizens buying in Canada is very attractive and there are few if any competing speakers that can match its value. Highly recommended. Similar Products Used: Bose 100 |
