I bought these Sony SS-SR290 speakers at the swap meet for $4 for the pair. They sound alright but have no tweeters. I agree with some of the people on here they lack bass pretty much is a plain speaker in a little box. I wouldn't recommend them for listening to music because they aren't really clear sounding. I got them for 4.00 what can I expect? |

Strength:
crisp, clear, price Bought as a package set with 2 sony SS-SR290 surround speakers. For the price, it provides crisp and clear mid-range sound. It does muffle a little at high volumes but performs well at normal listening volumes. It is not Bose, but you shouldn't expect it to be for the price. An excellent value for entry level. Strength:
Crisp sound
Weakness:
Doesn't quite fit on top of my TV I bought this as part of the sscr290 3 piece package. It came with two 100w surrounds. For only 99 dollars so far this has been a great buy. The sound on this is as clean as I could ask for. 120 watts proves to be plenty enough power, especially considering that my receiver only puts out 100 to it. Anyway, there's not much more to say. It's affordable. It's good. Buy it. |

Strength:
Crisp highs, great value
Weakness:
inability to handle low bass, kind of a plain looking speaker I also bought this as part of the three piece surround speaker package. Although it handles the high frequencies quite well, it has trouble with the lows. You can also hear some noise/distortion during a DVD scene with a lot of action coming through the center channel. |
