Strength:
dual woofers/fairly hefty and large speaker magnets/
Weakness:
the corners of the speakers are not very well finished and thus not too durable to withstand slight cracking/peeling...but otherwise, solid and hefty construction this is a nice nice speaker for the money... Similar Products Used: BHT/JBL/Jamo/Infinity/other various brands |

Strength:
Great sound from a bookshelf. Highs are clear, mids are a little muddy until EQ is adjusted, and Bass is not low but I thought thats what a sub is for
Weakness:
Corners are easy to fudge up. No complaints with sound quality. Bought at www.supremevideo.com for the price of $239.00+shipping. I use these for a rear speaker in my home-theater. Very loud and sound clear at low and high volume levels. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
clean and substantial bass; pleasing highs
Weakness:
size; lack of midrange "punch" these are some great speakers if u can still get them at the sears nearest u. I can't believe they were selling these quality built speakers for 120 a pair! The bass is very clean and the speaker can be played to very loud levels until distortion becomes evident. Also, the tweeter guide(it looks like a mutated horn tweeter design inlaid into the front baffel. But all in all, an awesome speaker for home theater or music if matched with AR center, and rears, albeit the AR sub don't need to be considered since it is not too good for listening to cd music. I recommend it for the ridiculous value and quality of sound and build. Similar Products Used: mission, jbl, b&w, infinity |

Weakness:
Sharp corners on cabinet Bought these on Egghead for $119.00 for the pair mid December 1999. Using Sony Strde1010 receiver. If you do not have stands for these speakers turn them upside down so the tweeter is closest to the floor and they will have a better mid range and the high's will be more clear. also the AR logo rotates 360 degrees Similar Products Used: AR Classic 30, M5, M1, M4, 328PS, C225ps |

Strength:
Strong construction, clean sound, great looks
Weakness:
I don't have 2 pairs Heavy, well constructed speakers with great sound. I'll be adding the ARS300 powered sub soon but they sound great as is. Don't put them too close to your television as they have large magnets. They are great for home theater or music. Truly a great value for only $159 at Sears--they sound like 300-400 dollar speakers. |

Strength:
Tight bass, great looks, good highs, warm sound, easy to listen to.
Weakness:
no mid range, hardly a bookshelf speaker(26 lbs) I originally bought bose 301's, but they really weren't what i was looking for. So I returned them and got these little bad boys. Well... not so little. The AR's have much better overall sound And they look a lot nicer. Good punchy bass, very accurate highs... The lack of a mid range leaves a little to be desired, but it is covered rather nicely by the woofers. Leaving barely any separation. I use these as rears in my HT and they work beautifully! Good size and great depth. I dont know how they can call it a bookshelf spkr when it has two woofers and it weighs 26 LBS, but none the less, it fits sideways on my bookshelf and sounds fantastic. A great speaker for any room in the house perfect for HT and music. Especially when used in an HT with all AR's, because "they are voice matched for a seemless Home theater." It's true! I have the AR328PS on front and they are complemented so well by the AR226PS, and the AR center channel holds voices sooo well. f this is the size of speaker your looking for ... go buy it!
