Strength:

I purchased both the S1 Speaker and P1 Subwoofer as a set.
1)Incredible sound even driven with a measly 75w.
2)Great looks, insane value.
3)Flexible all inclusive connections in the back.
- Banana plug
- Bare wire
- A nifty and cool separate RCA subwoofer input that actually improves sound if used. Used if your amp has a sub out. I bought a Rshack gold standard y-adapter and ran a Gold standard Woofer out to each speaker. I ran the amp outputs directly to the upper speakers bypassing the cross over in the subs. Jury is out on overall sound but, I had to reduce the sub's output.

4)Warm + natural tight sounding lows.

Weakness:

Jury still out, will the amps in the P1 subs last longer than a couple of years or fry in a couple?

I like these speakers. I read the reviews on this site and they are right; my dealer was out of stock. I listened to the floor models which they would not sell because of resuppy issues. The factory rep. had a pair for me in a week. These speakers fit my needs exactly.

I have mine connected to a Yamaha AV300 something, using a technics eq. with a Klipsch center channel.

Strength:

Accuracy, stereo image, tonal balance and PRICE. A well thought out speaker.

An overall fine sounding speaker. I decided to pick them up after reading positive reviews in a number of reputable publications. As it turns out they do provide an excellent stereo image (provided they are placed properly), especially with earthy, acoustic instruments. Well recorded drums also sound great, sharp 'pats' from snares cut right through the soundstage while bass drums kick prodigiously but without distortion (the sub will give that extra 'ooomph' of course). The overall tonal balance of these speakers make them suitable for all kinds of music. Another highlight of these speakers (and the entire line) is their price. Stellar performance at a very nice price, I only paid $400 Canadian for the pair. The cabinets are very rigid, finished in a somewhat convincing cherry grain, while large binding posts grace the rear panel to accommidate bare-wire connections. They should look good in any household arrangement and because of their attractive looks (ie. the rounded forward panal that houses the drivers) may actually enhance the aesthetic of a listener's dwelling. I look forward to adding the matching sub to complete the system, but for now the S1's will do, especially in my small listening space and their generous frequency response (bottom out at 60hz).
