I purchased the AT 350 THX w/both subs shortly after they were avertised. I read a favorable review at the time and located a local AT dealer for a listen. They sounded wonderful while playing movies and equally well with audio CDs. My set are connected to a Yamaha RX-V2090 reciever with the AC-3 decoder, Pioneer projection TV and a Pioneer CLD-D604 w/Karaoke (wife likes to sing,I can't). My system is 4 years old now and I'm constantly being challenged by some friends with newer systems (Bose, Sony, Polk, Boston Acoustics, etc...). Never the less, the rest of our friends and We are still impressed with the sound quality even though some of the other systems have a bit sharper (louder) treble (probably a result of the reciever and not the speakers). Few for the price, can reproduce the "shaking water in the glass" as seen in Jurassic Park. Mind you, I am able to do this in a room of approximately 750+sqft with a 12ft cathedral ceiling!! Highs are quite adequate, Midrange is superb and the Lows are incredible with smooth transitions across the front as well as the rear. Yes, I am very happy with the investment my wife and I made with the AT 350s, for the price it's an attractive modern desigh with excelent sound and "earth shaking" lows.

Great system. I realized this when while watching a DVD, I thought for a second that their was an actual thunderstorm outside rather than coming from the speakers.

Strength:

The sound of music and movies.

Weakness:

None that I have discovered.

This is one awesome system! I have the complete system with one subwoofer, purchased from Onecall.com. I was initially concerned since a number of reviewers had indicated that this speaker system was not good on music. Well I sure Do Not agree! I have the speakers hooked to a Pioneer 27TX Receiver, MIT Terminitor 2&4 speaker wire, which required breaking in period, 90% of what I play for the first 48 hrs. were CD's. Now that the cables have had some time to burn in, I have noticed Higher Highs, stronger base and an increase in sound stage. These speakers sound great! On DVD I have noticed an increase in output on the 5th Element the Diva chapter, 1st time was OK but after burn in WOW can this system put out the high notes. Base shakes the house I really feel that I am in the movies. My wife loves the sound on music so much so does not want to watch movies. This is a completely new system with a Sony DVD 650, and JVC 7600 SVHS, Monster interconnects. I buildt a winner!

Strength:

Sounds great, clear, detailed, tight and pounding bass

Weakness:

Needs to be a bit brighter

I got these from OneCall.com for a great price of 1600 with
all the pedestals and 1 subwoofer. After auditioning B&W, Klipsch, Paradigm, NHT, PSB, and these I went with these because I could pass up the price.
I have it matched up with a HK AVR85, Panasonic DVD player, JVC S-VHS Vcr,
Hitachi big screen and Sony CD-changer. This system
rocks. Watching the Saving Private Ryan DVD, I could hear
every bullet, and thunderous bombs, great vocals. Handoffs between speakers are COMPLETELY seamless. Due to the size of my room, however, I will require an additional sub. One may want to consider skipping the AT sub and going to a 15" Velodyne or the 15" AT sub.

I use this for music as well, and it sounds very good.

In conclusion, you won't go wrong with this system.

Strength:

Wonderful soundstage and imaging from a complete hometheater speaker package in this price range. The bass rocks in my small 12x14 viewing room.

Weakness:

NONE!! This was my first big jump into hometheater and for the price of this system taking into account it's superb performance I can not think of any significant weaknesses.

Although this system is far from perfect, every system that I auditioned that sounded as good if not slightly better cost exceptionally more. As a complete entry level system in its price range of $2,000-$1,600 you can't go wrong.

Strength:

Movies, pedestals all around

Weakness:

Music, music, music

After a long time considering what to purchase, I decided to buy the AT 350 THX system with one sub. It came in a package with the Onkyo 787 reciever. When it arrived in multiple boxes, I was extremely excited to get this thing hooked up. When I was finally done with that, it was time to get the thing rolling. I gave it time to break in before I really did any critical listening.

Well, the time came to see what I thought. I put in Independance Day, the Matrix, Toy Story 2, and others. I liked what I heard, and thought the system did movies very well. The speakers seemed to work together very well, and the pedestals were great.

THen I went to music. Man was I not very happy with what I heard. The center had a hollow sound, the sub didn't do that great with music, and the other speakers just didn't seem to cut it. Don't get me wrong, it sounded decent, but at the price this package costs, there are other speakers like the Paradigms, Klipsch, etc. that thoroughly blow this system away for music. So, I packed it up and sent it back.

Would I recommend it? That depends on what it is going to be used for. IF it is movies only, probably. Although I think you might be able to find something a little less expensive that will sound as good. I did think movies were it's strong point, so I would give it a 4.5 for that. If there is any music playing going to be done, I absolutely wouldn't recommend it. I think the Paradigm Mon 7 v2s not only are better for music, but blow these speakers away for music. It is sad. Luckily, I convinced one call that I wouldn't buy these speakers without being able to demo them in my house. For music, I would rate this speakers at a 1.5. Almost everything I have heard in town literally blows these things away. Maybe not the rack systems, but pretty much everything I heard in the local hifi stores does. For that reason, I give these speakers a value rating of 3, and a overall rating of 1. They cost entirely too much for the terrible music capabilities of these speakers. They are not worth the risk of buying them sight unseen, and they are not cheap to send back (shipping cost me about $275 to get them here and back to demo them, the salesperson told me there was nothing better. Sure, that is his job, but they are not worth the money)>

After a month with these speakers, I cannot say enough good things about them. I too got them from Onecall (two front stands, and one sub, with the four other speakers for less than $1800, shipped). The surrounds are V-pole (dipole), but I think they sound great. The main speakers are as good for stereo music as they are with dolby digital movies, and that is VERY good. The center does really produce exceptionally clean dialog, as advertised. The sub has been beefed up. It is now a 12"/225 watt twin, with 350 system cosmetics, of the sub used in the AT 270 system. The 350 system needs two subs for the THX certification. I have not yet added that second monster. One alone carries a lot of bass, cleanly and well. It is, probably, only a matter of time before I give in to home theater lust, and really shake the house with a second sub.
The AT 450THX system, at more than five grand, is considered a standard for the industry. I am sure that it sounds better than my system, but not three thousand dollars better. I really do not feel the need for sound any better than this.

Strength:

Hits all frequency ranges with extreme clarity in movies and music.

Weakness:

None that I know

I only have the one sub for the THX rated system but the system still sounds awsome. I think 2 subs could be a bit overwhelming in a 20 x 15 room. This is not a compact system and I was able nicely decorate around all speakers for the sake of not getting a divorce. My wife love the sound but she respects our interior dcorator who thinks speakers are not pretty. I have all 4 pedestals which are very nice and made location easier. I think the best thing AT did was upgrade the speaker material to graphite drivers from poly.

I would recommend thsi system to anyone. My receiver is the Onkyo 676 since there really is not much out there in THX for DVD. I just need a bigger room and TV (I have a 46" now)

I've owned the 350 THX's for 5 months and although they are not perfect (a little weak when playing music, but I'm being very critical), I have been very pleased overall.
When I first received them, the voice coil of one of the midrange drivers on the front speakers was damaged. The entire speaker was replaced and has never been a problem since. This was probably an anomaly.

I would highly recommend the Eagles "When Hell Freezes Over" DTS DVD. I'm not really an Eagles fan, but when played through the 350's and powered by a Yamaha RXV-995, the sound is awesome! I'll give it a reluctant 5 stars.
