The AudioSource VS 3.1 is a home theatre system consisting of one center channel speaker and two rear channel surround speakers. The surround speakers list a frequency response of 80 Hz-20 k., through an 8 ohm 4" driver. The center channel speaker lists a f.r. of 60 Hz-20 k., through two four inch woofers and one 5/8" polycarbonate tweeter. Both speakers list a sensitivity of 91 dB and power handling of 40 w.
A list price of $179.95 for the system is not what you should expect to pay;
I paid $69.95 for the boxed set at Sears!

The center channel localizes dialogue adequately, and the sound blends well with my tower speakers. (Remember that the lowest frequencies are routed away from center and surround channels in Dolby Pro Logic mode.)

The surround speakers sound good. The jets in the movie "Top Gun" seem to be actually flying overhead. (On a lark, I connected the small surround speakers to another receiver in the house along with a 12" subwoofer. They made decent satellite speakers.)

I would not pay $180 for the speakers, but if you can find the set for the price I paid, get it! I give the system 3.5 stars for quality, and an additional 1/2 star for value.

Highs can be too sharp at times

i was looking for a quality center speaker, when i saw Sears 50% sell on this package set. Since i was already impressed with the center speaker( a friend owned one). I purchase the set for a merely $50. Much to my surprisei connected it to my Digital Reciever( with my 10 inch power sub). The sound that came out was so impressive ... that they never came down off my walls. I repeatedly stunn friends when the come by to listen to my system. And when i tell them the price. They just can't believe it. Its worth checking out, TRUST ME!!!!! You can find them online for about $100 at Audio Source web site.
