Accuracy. Transparent. Musical. Top quality drive units.

Seems expensive to pay for 2 tiny boxes.

Fitted with quality Vifa/Scanspeak drive units found in expensive speakers over $2000. Good crossover makes the needs for bi wiring redundant. The nearest speaker that I have heard that produces the same accurate pitch for musical notes or vocal sounds is a pair of Martin Logan Aerius.

Unlike those the Nuneutrons are very much smaller making it easier to fit in living room, study or even recording studio. They are so tiny that even Bose lovers will fall in love with them but will be truly stunned by the excellent built quality.

They may be compact but reproduces massive amount of information making them suitable for near monitoring for extracting the last ounces of data from any recordings. Better still when placed on speaker stands the soundstage is truly remarkable. They do not have same big and loud lower end frequency generated by Martin Logan woofers. However in an apartment with 16 x 12 feet listening room this speakers produces more enjoyable musical notes. The high and most important mid-range is pitch accurate without being swamp by booming bass notes. Listening to Diana Krall or Eva Cassidy their voice sounds astonishingly life like. You can feel and be touch with your music with these speakers.

Great small speakers ordered from England. Initially I was disappointed. I sent them back to AVI for repair. A bad capacitor in the cross-over was found in one speaker. Now that I have listened to them for many hours they are wonderful. Perhapsthe best on voice I've ever heard. These speakers sound great on most music and will play reasonably loud. Bass extension is limited given woofer size but still quite good. The NuNeutrons require excellent elctronics with a high-current amplifier. For $500 one is hard-pressed to find a better mini monitor

I bought my system nearly a year ago, as my first separates system, having had my Denon D110 stolen. I auditioned a range of stuff, including some Epos speakers as well, but the little AVIs sounded clearer and more balanced. Like the previous reviewer said, there isn't loads of bass, but what there is is very well controlled, which I love since I'm not a big bass fan.
I'm running with a Marantz CD63 mkII K I Signature and a Musical Fidelity X-A1, and the sound still amazes me. Strangely they sounded better with the X-A1 than the X-Pre and a pair of A50's.
Great speakers. Audition them if possible. Even if you can't, I'd doubt that you'd be disappointed.

I am not an audiophile but i do like to listen to music that sound pleasent to my ears.

In my quest to find a pair of standmount loudspeakers in the price region of 5-600 pounds, I have tried the new Proac 2000s, the Dynaudio audience 40 & 50s, Cura, B&W cdm1se, Celestion A compact.

Prior to buying these AVIs, I had a pair of KEF Q15s feed by :

Arcam 9 int amp
Linn Genki cdp
QNECT 2 interconnect
Sonik Link speaker cable

I 1st tried the Proac 2000s, they were bright & harsh, the bass were ok but not 1/2 as brilliant as the press says. The dealer told me they have only sold 1 pair of this speaker to date. The dealer also let me tried the "signiture" version, which he claim to be their best selling. They must be the cleanest sounding loudspeaker I've ever heard. The bass was sensational, but can be boomy at times. The treble was very clean, the mids were very clean, the soundstage was very deep & clean. 3D dimension was amazing. The speakers sound so big they should be in a very big room powered by a very big amp. The reason why I didn't go for them at the end was because 1)I don't want to pay 900 GBP for a pair of speakers which is twice my budget. 2)They sounded crap with my DVDs and Playstation.

The AVI's were simply stunning in voice presence, one of the best I ever heard. (the best ever I heard was a pair of Spendor standmounts fed to Naim pre/power amp by a pair of kimber trifocal XL cables & a wadia cd player. But that system cost 18000 GBP).

The other speakers that I auditioned i did not think come anywhere close to the AVIs. Their weaknesses will be discussed by others in their sections in audioreview.com.
The Dynaudios as they all say have very good bass but the treble can be bright at times. I found the AVI's cf the Dynaudio, excel in voice presence and sweetness, the treble is more forgiving plus their bass is just as good.

With pop & rock tracks the AVIs although does not give the sheer storming bass of bigger speakers, the avi's tighter & crisper bass results in the music more foot tapping and realistic. In fact, the bass from these little standmounts are more than adequate for domestic use. Orchestral pieces can also be conveyed in a very expressive manner and can sound very big indeed. Even complex mixes of instruments can be revealed clearly.

However when I 1st tried jazz music they sounded fragmented, harsh, simply "painful" to the ears. The dealer told me this was because my amp does not provide enough current to meet the demand of the speakers and he proved this by swapping my Arcam amp with a Primare 30.1 amp. The jazz music immediately sound sweet and lush. However i am not preparing to pay 1500 GBP for an amp at the same time as my speaker upgrade. The dealer recommended the DNM Reson II speaker cables and there was no difference whatsoever. So I was left with the dilemma where I will have to upgrade my amp at the same time as the speakers if I were to go for the AVIs (and I do enjoy jazz music).

Luckily, one day I come across www.russandrews.com and found his description on the Kimber 4TC speaker cables, I also reviewed the comments on this cable in audiorewiew.com. As he offers 30 days home trial I ordered these cables & tried them on the AVIs at the dealers.
Wow!! It immediately solved the problem. With these 150 GBP speaker cables the difference is compatible to swapping my Arcam for the Primare amp in listening to jazz music with the AVIs (which would have cost me 10 times more).

I must clarify that the Primare option has undeniably a much better overall result. But I am perfectly happy with my own amp on the AVIs except with jazz, and this is solved by the Kimber cables.

Even with DVDs & Playstation the AVIs sound realistic, dynamic, and with a deep soundstage and presence.
