Strength:

Sound, contruction, attention to detail, value

Weakness:

None that I can hear or see.

I have spent the last six months auditioning many speakers in the $500-$$750 range, some sounded excellent, other not. Then I saw numerous positive reviews of the Axiom M3ti. Being a Canadian company, there were no stores here in Southern California that carried them, so I called the company. Of course they said their product was good, but I still wasn't convinced. I then called an independant dealer (The Audioshop) and spoke with Marc Hallam. He honestly told me all the positive aspects of the speakers with virtually no negatives, so I mulled it over for a day and took the plunge and ordered a set, without hearing them first.

I recently received the M3ti's and cannot be more happy. My fears were completely unfounded I am not an audiophile, but have used a number of different speakers in the last twenty years, some low end (my poor college days) and others a bit more sophisticated.

The M3's have such a clarity and range to them that I am amazed that sound this rich can come from such a small speaker and not to mention, at such a small price point. I'd expect sound this good to come from speakers costing triple. I am truely amazed at what Axiom has produced.

Along with the M3's, I also purchased a pair of Axiom QS2 rears, a Axiom VP100 CC and the Axiom EP-175 sub. All match wonderfully. I will post reviews in their respective sections.

Finally, all this would not have been possible without the help and advice of Marc Hallam of The Audioshop in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He answered all my questions, no pressure, a very pleasent and professional person. He is located at: http://www.audioshop.on.ca He shipped all speakers securly packaged via two day FedEx.

You will be very happy with Axiom and The Audioshop. I will not hesitate to purchase from either of them again.

Strength:

small, affordable

Weakness:

no clarity

After reading all the reviews about these supposedly amazing speakers I ordered a pair direct from Axiom sight unseen. I was excited to here how wonderful they sounded. I was truely dissapointed. No calarity at all! The sound is so muffled, as if they are under water. They also costantly hiss reguardless of the volume-high or low. I get better sound from my $50.00 boom box in the basement. Perhaps they have internal damage. Who Knows? Worst purchase I ever made though. I will never buy another pair of speakers without listening to them for myself first. Emailed Axiom with my complaint. Have not heard back from them yet.

Strength:

Excellent price, very well built, great sound!!!

Weakness:

None considering it's a bookshelf speaker and the price.

I have had these speakers for a little over a month now, and let me tell you I think they are a great buy. Not only is the level of construction top notched they also sound great. The highs are suburb without being ear piercing and the mid range is fantastic. For a bookshelf, the bass is respectable. Great for the majority of music out there, but for home theater and rap, you want to get a sub (I use them mostly for home theater, with a sub, and they sound great). The imaging and balance of these speakers are incredible! These speakers are also very easy to listen to; you can listen to them for hours without your ears becoming fatigued. While these speakers cost less than $300 (including shipping) they do not belong to the sub $300 class of speakers. These speakers will out perform anything you can buy at Bestbuy or Circuit City. These speakers truly belong in $500 to $1000 range. There are better speakers out there, but they sure as heck cost a lot more than $275. The M3ti do have some limitations. Due to their small size they won’t fill a large room with sound. They are better suited for small to medium size rooms. Additionally, the bass is what you expect from a bookshelf, so if you want deep bass you better get a sub. Finally, they have a sound port in the rear, which makes wall mounting difficult. Despite all this, I would buy them again. These speakers are great for the money; they would be great for twice what I paid for them.

I don’t know what went wrong with the last poster’s pair of speakers, but I can assure you that my experience has been nothing like hers. Customer service has always responded to my question fairly fast. Axiom has one of the better customer service departments that I have dealt with in audio industry.

I actually bought the M22ti, but I wanted to respond to the last reviewer who said he wished he lived in Canada to get the $200 USA price. Good news, you don't have to. I bought mine at the audioshop, audioshop.on.ca, talk to Marc Hallam great guy, got my M22ti for $350 a pair shipped FedEx arrived in 2 days. I could have gotten a pair of M30ti for $200 or $175 for factory 2nds (just cosmetic). Visit their website. Great Speakers

Great soundstage and clarity.

Weakness:

I've had the m3ti for 4 mos. I drive them with an nad c350 integrated amp, Dh labs interconnects and t-14 cables. The sound just keeps getting better. The clarity is really hard to believe, it honestly sounds like a live band. I hear things in my cd;s I've never heard before. Soundstage is excellent. These bookshelf speakers do not lack anything. I bought mine from Axiom, filled out the comments form, mailed it back in with my 5 year warranty and the company sent me a $25.00 gift certificate, which i applied to a set of stands Axiom makes for the M3tis.

Strength:

An excellently clear, detailed, balanced speaker
Excellent price

Weakness:

none for the price

I found these speakers thanks to Srajan Ebaen and Goodsound.com. They have an excellent, professional review at http://www.goodsound.com/equipment/axiom_m3ti.htm.

also one at http://www.soundstage.com/revequip/axiom_millennia3ti.htm
where it got a reviewer's choice award.

I have listened to several speakers for a few months now including the above models by NHT, Paradigm, PSB, etc. These Axioms, in my opinion, have a slight edge over all of them. They seem less harsh than PSBs or Paradigms, and have about the same detail as NHTs. If I had to pick a different speaker for this price range, it would be the SuperOnes. The Axioms seem to have slightly better bass. They seem do everything perfectly for the price.

One of my friends thought I had paid $275 each for these, but when I told him it was for the pair, he was amazed.. he had spent $300 on Bose bookshelves a couple years ago. (sounds like a cliche Bose story, but true).

I have it mated with another incredible deal, the Cambridge Audio A300 Integrated Amplifier. They sound great together. My source is an Onkyo 6 Disc DVD player and I have Home Depot 12 gauge speaker wire ( a real bargain at 55 cents a foot ).

I'm just jealous of the people who got them for $200!! I wish I lived in Canada when it comes to speakers..

as for their comparison with nOrh 4.0s.. I'll have to wait because I might be able to do a head-to-head comparison. It's not really fair comparing a $275 speaker to a $400 speaker though. I've heard the nOrhs too and they are awesome as well.

keep in mind I am NOT an audiophile and probably am not the best source for a review, but these are my impressions so far anyway.

Weakness:

None for a budget bookshelf

I wish Axiom made recievers because they wouldn't spend my money on DSP Modes,Advertising and also Royalties like THX Certification and they would put the money where it belongs and rely on word of mouth advertising.

I like all of Axioms speakers and especially the Millenia line and I think my favorite part about them is they are so controlled and I usually get tired of listening to music very fast but they don't have that affect and it is surprising because they do have Titanium Tweeters.
Axiom has obviously mastered their crossovers performance to stop the ear bleading that normally comes with Titanium Tweeter designs from other companies.I really like the clarity, dispertion and the ALL AROUND performance of the M3Ti's and actually for that matter all of Axioms speakers do an excellent job at that and every other aspect.I have never heard such controlled speakers for such a low price and they never get boomy or many other characteristics like many and almost all other lower price speakers and their asking price simply astounds me everytime I look at it.

Their asking price is simply honest because we should be paying for their value rather than their performance.Axiom is the only speaker company that I know of that doesn't have a mark up of 300%-600% on their speakers. For example the Bose 501's cost $140 to make including everything and then they are sold to the dealers for $574 and then people pay over $1000 and in that case you aren't paying for the value or the performance considering the M3Ti's for $300 are a better ALL AROUND speaker. Then you have companies like Denon that don't have a Canadian distributor and it get's even worse for Canadians and I mean look at cables like monster for example and compare them to Acoustic Research and the AR for a quarter of the price is better.

I run a H/K AVR 310 for HT and a Yamaha AX-596 for music and I use the Axiom M80's,VP150 and also the M3Ti's and this set-up works very well in HT because I use the Yamaha in the H/K's pre-outs because it doesn't support 4ohm loads. The Yamaha works awesome in 2 channel music because I use the Yamaha on it's own.It is head over heals above recievers in music and it has the same specs as the RXV1 but sounds better because of the Variable loudness control and 0.008 distortion with a damping factor of 320 and with High quality capacitators like Nichicons muse series and a 20A bridge rectifier for $500-600 is a bargain considering I would have paid $300-400 just for a power amp to run my M80's.I bought the H/K just because I only paid $650 for it brand new but I would have preffered the Yamaha RXV800 but the cheapest I could find it for was $850 and it was normally $1000 and the MSRP was $1200 but the dealers cost was $674 so I couldn't justify spending the extra $$$ because I needed a monoblock for my centre (VP150) to do it justice.

I do like some other low cost speakers like the Klipsch KSB 3.1 and the Def Tech Pro Monitor 200 and I believe it is because they are also very fast speakers, affordable and they have the same characteristics of the M3Ti's.I find the M3Ti's even respond quicker than both of these speakers and they actually seem to respond even before the signal is their but the Def Tech's seem to have more Bass but I don't like rap so I would still pick the M3Ti's even if they were the same price. Both speakers I mentioned are more expensive by $200-$300 in Canada anyway.I do like some bookshelfs more than the M3Ti's but I would have to pay twice the price and I would buy the M80's again if I had to pay that much.

These fairly small bookshelfs can outperform speakers costing 2-3 times the price and I believe it is because of the resources that Axiom has because they make speakers for many other companies like PSB,Onkyo,CV and also because of the time and dedication Ian and his crew put into their designs and Technology and the list of awards in the company history shows it.I have done many comparisons with these speakers like the Paridigm Studio 20's and I used high quality equipment like Jolidas and budget equipment like the Yamaha AX-596 and these little $300 speakers really outperformed those $900.00 speakers and also my freinds felt the same and quite awhile ago I was in a local Hi-Fi shop and they carry the whole Paridigm line so it wasn't a case of bash what you don't carry and the guy I dealt with also felt that the M3's outperform the Studio 20's.People get offensive when they are told that the system that they have put their time and money into could be built for half of the price so I won't continue but I strongly suggest listening to these speakers before purchasing anything unless you like rap and then I would get a sub woofer and then the M3Ti's.ANY bookshelf has week points if put it with the best quality equipment but the M3Ti's won't have any more than the bookshelf sitting beside it that cost 2-3 times the price and it might just have less and in many cases of my demoing experiences it did.It doesn't seem logical that a $300 speaker should compare to speakers costing $600-$900 but if they are relatively the same size you better bet your last dollar the M3Ti will come out in the lead with High and Low quality equipment.

It really amazes me that people pay over $1000 for bookshelf speakers when they cost $100-150 to make when the M80 cost 5 times the price to make and sell for $950 brand new with the new configuration.VALUE SHOULD BE SOMEWHERE ON THE PRICETAG.

I recommend MANY people to Axiom and I lead them to a good buddy of mine at Audiotronics and also answer TONS of emails and they are always amazed at the value of these speakers and I do it because I believe in their products and they provide great service and I would recommend any of Axioms speakers and it is quite obvious that Ian Colquin and his employees have spent many years putting time into his speakers quality and performance and he has offered people like me that don't have a big bank even though I started working when I was ten at a Grocery store and have worked since to have audiophile quality sound. Thanks Miller

P.S. I USE ACOUSTIC RESEARCH CABLES AND THEY CAN'T BE BEAT FOR THE MONEY AND I DON'T PREFFER ANYTHING ELSE UNTIL NORDOST BUT SAVE YOUR MONEY FOR THE NEW VP150 THAT IS COMING OUT.

P.S.S.IF YOU LIVE IN THE US AND ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH AXIOM LOOK TO THE RIGHT AND THE BOOTHS ARE THEIR AND ALSO SOUNDSTAGE.COM HAS A PROFESSIONAL REVIEW ALTHOUGH THIS SPEAKER HAS TO BE A LITTLE BETTER BECAUSE THE ONE THEY REVIEWED DIDN'T HAVE A CROSSOVER.

These little Beuties sound great.Everything you are hearing about these speakers is true. They are great speakers.I am using these for rears on my surround system. You could use these for mains on your system but you would probably need a sub as you would for any bookshelf speaker. These speakers got great highs and nice mids for a two way bookshelf.
