Strength:
Best speakers I have ever heard that I can afford. Tremendous sound stage and great detail
Weakness:
None really, but I think the Sub really tightened up the lower bass. Depending upon how low you want to go, you might get wawy without a sub. I have spent the last 5 hours setting up and listening to these speakers. They are part of a home theatre system but I've just concentrated on the Stereo aspect of the speakers. I have them hooked to a Klipsch 10 inch sub crossing over at 60hz. They are slightly toed in (Made a big difference) and are equidistant from the listening position and each other. In my room I had to raise the level of the right speaker two db above the left. Enough about the setup. The sound is incredible. These are the first speakers I ever had that I can play loud and not find fatiguing. I am a big Steely Dan fan and have played their CD's over and over, but with these speakers I heard stuff I never heard before. The room is filled with music. I have no need or desire to play five channel stereo. Thanks to all of you who have reviewed this speaker and this company so highly. It was because of you that I decided to give the speakers a try. Strength:
Price, imaging, accurate highs and mids, clean bass, 30-day return policy.
Weakness:
not so much a weakness as a caveat...placement is critical. You must experiment with the positioning of these speakers to obtain the best results. Also, they are big. I bought these speakers based on their excellent reviews on the Audioreview website, their high ratings from other sources, the enthusiastic recommendations from those on the Axiom message boards, and Axiom's 30 day return policy. I wanted to replace my surround system, which was cobbled together using speakers from different manufacturers, with speakers from the same manufacturer. In short, these are excellent speakers at any price, and extraordinary speakers for their price range. When placed properly, they have an amazing soundstage, awesome clarity, and tight bass. It requires some time to fully appreciate these speakers. Placement is critical, as they must not be too close to rear or side walls, and some toeing in is required if they are further apart than the listener is from them. Also, if you have been listening to speakers with artificial, boomy bass, you may be initially disappointed in their sound, until you listen enough to appreciate the clean, accurate bass of the M60's. Some have described the sound of the Axioms as "bright" I would say that they have very accurate treble, but can reveal the flaws in overly bright source material, and can also reveal the acoustic deficiencies of the listening room. I can listen to music on these speakers for hours on end without experiencing any listening fatigue, a sure sign that they are producing clean, undistorted sound. For music, the M60's are a joy. As I said earlier, the soundstage is rich and detailed. Cymbals sparkel, vocals sound like they are in the room with you, and the bass is surprisingly deep considering that the woofers are only 6". A subwoofer is not absolutely required, unless one is listening to organ music, techno, or other sources with unusually large abounts of signal below 35 hz. The Axioms are equally good in home theater applications. Movie sounds are accurate, and the speakers blend seamlessly with my VP100 center and QS4 surround speakers. For home theater applications, a subwoofer is highly recommended. In short, for music as well as home theater applications, it is hard to imagine a better speaker for the money. build realistic imaging customer service most perfect speaker I've own, woth the extra air freight to europe. bullet proof packaging, wow!
Weakness:
absolutely none, perfect soundstage. I purchased the m60ti’s after much research, review reading, considerations, and of course testing and purchasing the Axioms mt3i’s. So before I made my purchase, I spoke with Brent, an Axiom rep, and he assured me that all speakers do in-fact use the same quality drivers that are in my sweet m3ti’s. Brent was even kind enough to call me immediately, in Italy, with info concerning their shipping methods. Customer service this good? So I said what the heck, I’ll buy them have them shipped to New Jersey then reroute them to Europe via express air. I had those babies within 5 working days. They were much bigger than my Bose 601, in-fact they look like the monolith in 2001, no kidding! So I hooked them up to my Dennon, and I wasn’t much impressed, just like the others, but I already knew that they would need about forty hours of music before their true colors would shine. So I gave them a helping handful of Pop, Rock, Rap, and symphony. Day and night! After which, their true colors came out. but something was still off. I did a little research and learned more about proper placement. So I worked their placement and found that they prefer to be 18 inches from the wall, equal distant from each other and the listener, and most importantly each must face the listener. These beauties are not as forgiving as my 601’s, but they are most rewarding. Their sound stage is phenomenal. What a pleasure! Every detail is so clean, crisp and true. The vocals? Well, it’s as if you are there! Nothing in life is perfect mind you, and with this in mind I did note that the Axioms did extremely well with sound staging, but did not do as well as the 601 in reproducing operatic performances that were recorded in a closed theatre environment. Not a big problem for me since most of my music is not of this genre, and much of my symphonic collection is in fact recorded in a studio or a live open stage. With the arrival of my m60ti comes the completion of my home theatre system, and now I can change at will from realistic movie- time or play- station gaming to soundstage performance. Beautiful! 30 day return. Customer service. Excellent shipping protection for the product. FAST shipping. And of course, the sound is so much better than you can believe. For the price and the quality, I couldn't get any better. 6 stars would be a better indicator of price value rather than 5. $800, no tax, no shipping. You can't beat it.
Weakness:
None. I bought the M60 Tis. Everything written by everybody else panned out. The speakers sound fantastic! With live concert CDs it really sounds like the band is in your living room. Jazz, Rock, Classical, you name it, it all sounds amazing! The customer service is better than you can believe. I asked for advice on receivers and speaker wire and they were more than happy to talk as long as I needed. I was asking about the Yamaha RX-V1300 and was told it was a perfect match. Due to a huge sale at the local shop, I upgraded to the 2300 instead. I had some difficulty hooking it up and called Axiom. They talked me through it like champs and were happy to do so. Find that anywhere else. |

Crisp, airy highs Clear midrange like you've never heard TIGHT, clean bass HUGE 3 dimensional soundstage Not exactly sure, but I think the previous reviewer demo'd my pair of M60's in my home before buying his own. (He's the second person to do that!) Once you hear how amazing the M60's sound, you can't resist buying a pair of your own. I demo'd a TON of speakers before buying the M60's. In face, I had bought a pair of Veritas 2.2's first, and had fully intended on keeping them until I had the chance to bring a pair of M60's home to demo. I listened to both for about a week, and in the end I had to send the Veritas back and order my own pair of M60's. (btw...the Veritas are $1500 speakers!) Axiom really knows how to build a speaker. If you like detailed, crisp, clear, sound with TIGHT, full bass - then Axiom is your company - especially their M22, M60 and M80 models. Wow...my quest for Audio bliss is finally over. :) my gear: Rotel RSP-1066 Rotel RMB-1075 Rotel RB-1070 Denon DVD-2900 Axiom M60ti mains Axiom VP150 center Polk LS f/x surrounds Hsu VTF-2 subwoofer Similar Products Used: Boston 950's Veritas 2.2 Veritas 2.4 (nice, but $3600!) Strength:
Incredible tight bass Warm, sweet midrange Highs that float through the air
Weakness:
Only weakness is that they did a good job of pointing out what equipment I need to upgrade in my system. I'm already looking at getting a new CD and DVD player, as well as an entirely new pre and power amp setup. I had my eyes on the M-60's for quite some time, especially after I introduced my father to Axiom's M-22's, of which he couldn't be happier with. My thoughts about deciding between the M-60's and the larger M-80's were put to rest the minute I got them home. The bass on these speakers is outstanding, which is what my main concern was at first. Hearing is believing. It took me some time to adjust my ear to this new, outstanding sound I was hearing, as I was quite acustom to my 14 year-old Advent Legacys. The midrange sings and the highs just float through my room. It's hard to keep my mouth closed from shock with each new tune I put on. It took me some time to figure out proper placement in the room as I discovered that I was too close to them at first. This is also where I realized that I made the right decision between these over the M-80's. Unless you've got a HUGE room to play them in, the M-80's would be overkill. Once I rearranged my room and let the 60's breathe, they started imaging like crazy! I found new life in what I thought was a tired old CD collection. Female vocals are just sweet and warm, and acoustic guitars sound like they're being played right in front of you. You CAN NOT beat these speakers at this, or even twice the price. Axiom is an outstanding company with great customer service and represents the absolute best deal in audio that I have ever found. It almost seems foolish to invest two to three times the price on other brand speakers when there is a good chance that these would still sound better. Trust me when I tell you that you will not be disappointed with these speakers. Axiom's money back guarantee let's you try them in your home risk free. I highly doubt that you'd return them once you hook them up, however. Similar Products Used: NAD preamp AMC and ADCOM power amps Harman/Kardon DVD & CD players |

Strength:
Suonds as good as $4K-$5K pair of speakers.
Weakness:
The look could be nicer, but it is OK for the money. I bought these speakers about a year ago and was quite happy with them. Since then I completed my HT setup with VP150 and a pair of QS8s. I did not bother to write a review until I rediscovered my M60Ti this week. I have noticed that Denon AVR-3802 does not handle well two channel music, it is simply not build for that, so I started to look for the power amplifier to drive my fronts. I auditioned to few of them until I made my final choice of B&K 2220. What a difference! I never thought M60Ti has such a potential to reproduce everything you throw on them right at any volume. This upgrade is highly recommended to all surround receiver owners |

Strength:
Like the look of the speakers. Price.
Weakness:
my current Center & surrounds do not match my M60's Ordered these speakers on a Wednesday night, by 1:00 pm Friday, they were delivered. Noticed immediate improvement over JBL speakers they were replacing. I was looking for better midrange, and a clearer top end. I got it plus tighter bass. I noticed some brightness(Harshness) in the top end, but only after I pushed them to levels beyond what I, or any sane person, would ever listen to. Bought them at the outlet store, could not find any blemishes, but I did see a little dust on one side of the speaker cabinet, wiped right off. I listened to classic rock, Aerosmith, Steven Tylers voice was a more than a little piercing, played at ridiculously loud levels. went through practically my whole CD collection, Female vocals sounded better. Madonna, No Doubt, Roxette. Listened to Vivaldi Four Seasons, instruments sounded fuller. better soundstage. to me they sound great. I give them a 5, because to me, they live up to all my expectations Similar Products Used: JBL, auditioned Def Tech, great sounding,B&W-another good sounding speaker. Klipsch- good sound, but prefered the Axiom's |

Strength:
Simply outstanding sound for the dollar! Free shipping! Very nice looking! They have real people that answer the phones. Web site was also very helpful. Emailed technical questions and got fast intelligent responses.
Weakness:
Cons: Nowhere to audition them in the Dallas area. Speaker posts could be a little further apart so you don’t short out your amp, if you use banana plugs it’s not an issue. I like the tweeter volume on the back of the Snells that allow you to adjust the brightness. The grills are a little flimsy if you take them off. I can’t take them with me when I travel. If you don't like them it could cost you mucho dinero to ship them back. Have listened to these for only three weeks they are broken in so here it is. I have auditioned several speakers. After reading several reviews I purchased these with the agreement that I could return them if not 100% satisfied. My system : M60Ts, Creek 4350R Integrated Amp., AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000 CD. These speaker sound better than anything I have auditioned in the $1000 to 1500 price range. I also liked the Monitor Audio Silver6. Note my room is about 15’x13’ or I would have tried out the 80s. My goal was to put together a very good sound at an incredibly low price. To accomplish this I set up the M60s with a Creek 5350 integrated amp.(a StereoPhile budget product of the year) and the AH! NJOE Tjoeb 4000 (tube) CD player witch I love. Note that I have also run these speakers with a Myriad MI-120 and a Adcom GFA 5800 & Calsse CP35 Preamp and Classe CD player. The Myriad was a little to bright for me, my wife liked it (she is a musician). The 5800 Adcom was also a little bright for my taste. The Creek 5350 was just right! Sound stage WOW! very good sound stage. Bass is excellent. Note: Speaker positioning effects bass and sound stage. I have them about 8’ apart and 18” off the wall and still playing with the positioning. The detail is very good better than the Snell CIV ($3000). The Snells have more oomph in the low end and the middle. I did bi-wire them with 10 gauge copper speaker wire witch is probably overkill. These speakers sound very good without having to crank up the volume. My system downstairs cost about 10,000. This system rivals what I have down stairs for about $2100 (I purchased the Creek 5350 used). Summary: There are a few products out there that are simply outstanding for the dollar. The M60’s are one of them. They will only sound as good as the components you run them through. They will not make a bad recording sound good! They will make a very good recording sound VERY GOOD! Strength:
Very detailed, neutral, clean sounding, excellent imaging when set up properly, excellent price for the quality
Weakness:
Perhaps not as forward as some might like, the shape is odd (but suits a purpose), placement was fickle (but it could just be me!) Like the review before this, these speakers didn't "blow me away" when I first heard them. I also have the Denon 3802. Previously, I owned a pair or Infinity RS-4's which are basically a bookshelf on an integrated stand (IMO). The Infinity's seemed a bit more forward which I thought I liked. However, after actually "listening" rather than "hearing" the sound, I found the M60's to be much more detailed and separated sounds with much more "air" between then instead of a "mush" of sounds. This is probably why the sound didn't seem as forward as I expected them to be. In this respect, the volume can be turned up quite a bit without getting sloppy sounding and piercing to the ears. In fact, they sound better with a lot of volume. I also do not consider the highs too bright. Clean and detailed is a better desciption. Perhaps with different amplification, the highs may seem brighter. The Denon seems to provide pretty neutral amplification. I also consider these speakers to be fairly neutral and think they work well together. Similar Products Used: B&W 603's (too warm & blah sounding to me), Klipsh RF-3's (too forward in certain areas), Boston Acoustics VRM-60 bookshelf speaker (very nice sounding, but way too expensive). |
