Strength:

Look nice... but a 1965 Mustang Fastback looks nice without and engine. Nice finish.. Mine were in Boston Cherry.

Weakness:

Very poor quality. Very poor sound. Without a doubt.. not worth anywhere near $1100.00

I've read every review on this site. That was a "HUGE" basis for buying these towers. I owned the Axiom VP-150 center channel for about a year and was very happy with it. I ordered the M80ti's in January of 2005. Very prompt delivery. The best packaged speakers I've ever seen. Great customer service. Actualy the best customer service I've ever had the pleasure to deal with. Now to the speakers... I went from a 10 year old pair of Cerwin Vega VS-150's to an $1100.00 pair of "audiophile" Axiom M80ti's. Is everyone else who has a pair of these speaker tone deaf or did I get the only bad pair Axiom has ever produced? I ran these speakers with plenty of power and plenty of break in time and I wanted to put my Cerwin Vegas back in their place. The low end was extremly muddy sounding, the highs were severly lacking in crisp, clear definition. The drivers had an "EXTRA" magnet attached to them to give you a false sence of weight. They are not video shieled as they say they are. You would be better off buying a pair of Fischer speakers from your corner drug store. I replaced these speakers with a set of B&W 604 S3's and replaced my VP-150 with the B&W LCR600 S3. The B&W 604 S3's cost about 2-3 hundred more than the Axioms but if your planing on keeping the Axioms you might as well light you cigar with a couple of $100.00 bills. Like I said... they had the best customer service that I've ever had the pleasure to deal with... it's just a shame I can't say the same about the speakers

Everything

Weakness:

Can't find any.

I Purchased the M80ti based on all the reviews on this site and you didn't let me down. I upgraded from my 1995 Polk Audio LS50 and I could tell the difference right away. The clearity is wonderful and the bass coming from these speakers have me thinking in not getting a subwoofer at all. I now feel as though I'm using the Denon 4802 to it's full potential that they were being held back with the Polk's. The customer service is top notch. Quick email response and great on the phone. I know I'm repeating what others have said but they truly are great speakers. Thanks everyone for the great advice.

4 ohm means its not for everyone

These speakers are an amazing value for the price. My purchase was driven by listening to a friend's B&K Natilus speakers. Realizing I had "fallen behind", I started looking for a pair of front speakers that could be both great stereo speakers and be the cornerstones of a solid home theater system. After talking to a lot of friends, reading a lot of reviews, and searching the net, two speakers came up as options, the Axioms and Polk LSi 15's. Truthfully, I thought I would get the Axioms, give them a listen, and if I didn't like them, send them back and give the Polk's a try. To say the least, they never went back. They were amazing and just keep getting more so as they break in. On the music front, the speakers have great soundstage in the horizontal plane. Positioning of individual singers/instruments is very percise, at least on well mastered disks. One of my current benchmark disks is Norah Jones' "Come Away With Me" CD. Nora is sitting right there. Bass is center left and drums center right. This is the type of recording where the Axioms are superb. Do they rock? Reasonably well. Rush's "Moving Pictures" sounds great. If you want a great test of the speaker, try Stairway to Heaven for "How the West was Won". It is a classic concert that has been remastered for old, just found, tapes. The sounds quality is great. The Axioms hand it well. Haven't tested is out that much with classical but what I have heard is decent. Are they as good as my friend's Nautilus'? No. The one noticable difference was depth of soundstage. But then we're talking $1,100 versus $5,000+. On the Home Theater front I have them paired with the Axiom VP100 in front and M3Ti's as surrounds. I'm also running a Hsu Research VTF 2 Sub. They do a great job in this application as well. We also have Norah's DVD and it sounds almost a good as the CD. For regular movies they provide a great range and soundfield with solid bass response down to where the sub takes over. There are a couple things to be aware of. Good news is that these are very efficient speakers. Expect noticeable greater volume. On the other hand, these are 4 ohm speakers so you really need to make sure you have an amp/receiver that can drive them. When I ordered them, they guys at Axiom quizzed me about this. Which brings up the next point - Axiom's custoemr service is fantastic. E-mial them with a set up question and you'll get a specific answer back the same day. All in all, these are great speakers from a great company. There might be better speakers out there for the price but you cannot go wrong with these.

Strength:

tight bass, accurate midrange, open and airy treble...efficiency, power handling, build quality, warranty, customer support

Weakness:

The vinyl cabinet is very well done, and looks superb, but, for those who like real wood...it is still vinyl! (I do think it looks very good)

First of all, the price. I bought these from the online Axiom outlet store. By doing this I received a 10% discount. I was given another 5% discount because I bought a 5 speaker set including the VP 150 center and a pair of QS-8 surrounds. These speakers are incredible! I have had several quality speakers in the last 20 years, but when I married my wife, she didn't like the big floorstanders, so I compromised and bought small bookshelves, and then tiny micro speakers and a sub. As good as many speakers have sounded to me over the years, these sound better! They are articulate and accurate. they are not shrill, yet not dull and lifeless either. Others have characterized Axiom speakers as "bright". They ARE brighter than Paradigms and Rockets, but they are cleaner and clearer also. Side by side they seem to be higher tonally. When you sit and listen for a bit, however, theybecome amazingly clear. Music that is nondescript or blurred by other speakers are very clearly heard with the Axioms. After only a few minutes, I realized that these speakers are not "bright", they are instead "open" and realistic. Buying on the net sight unseen (and unheard) is a bit of a gamble. Axiom's return policy makes it acceptable, and their sound makes it a treat!

Strength:

Crisp, clean sound. As loud as you want. Excellent soundstage

Weakness:

You need amplification that can handle the 4ohm impedence. (not really a weakness)

I replaced my Bose 901s with the M80TIs. What a difference. The 901s aren't even in the same ballbark. My audio system sounds like a totally different set. If you are going to buy new speakers plan on spending a $1000 anyway if you want something that really sounds good. These definitely give you the most bang for the buck.

After looking for about 6 months to replace some def tech's. I decided to give Axiom a try.Well these M80's simply blew the doors off the def tech's. The highs are nice and crisp(not bright)mid's sound as good as i've ever heard and the lows are very good. AS a matter of fact the lows are better than those so called sub woofers on the def tech's. Simply putYou could spend two or three times as much and not get any better sound.

Strength:

Clean, clear highs. Comfortable, full-spectrum sound at all volume levels. Never harsh or shrill at high volume.

Weakness:

Purists would pair with a nice subwoofer, but I'm going to forgo it for this system. Good enough for me as it is.

I am an electrical engineer and could use all types of esoteric language to describe these speakers. Not necessary. Simply plug them in and listen. Fabulous! Much bassier than expected. Try them out, you won't be disappointed.

Great sound !. Clear and precise imaging. Good bass. Value for money.

Weakness:

None found so far.

It was time for me to upgrade my loudspeakers. Having been a long time owner of B&W speakers, I was very skeptical at first of considering another brand. The positive reviews of the Axiom M80's piqued my curiosity at about the same same time I was auditioning some B&W Nautilus speakers. But at less than a quarter of the cost of the B&W's I decided to give the Axioms a try. Straight out of the box, the Axiom M80's sounded good. They looked good too, with quality cabinetwork. After a few days of breaking in, they really opened up. The bass is surprisingly good and tight. The midrange is a delight on the ears, with clean separation of instruments. The tweeters do a good job of reproducing the upper frequencies without sounding harsh at high volumes. The soundstage and imaging of these speakers is very good indeed. Although not quite as neutral as the B&W's, they come close. I am happy with these speakers and would suggest the Axiom M80's to anyone looking for the B&W soundstage at a fraction of the cost.

Weakness:

that i cant give them a six star rating

i took a chance on theese after reading the reviews and it paid off.i replaced a pair of klipsch epic 3s with the axioms.i like to listen to my music or movies very loud at times and theese speakers can really do it.listening at low or high volumes the m 80s play deep solid tight clean bass that i never would have thought could come from 6.5" woofers....the mids and highs are extremely clear and detailed.when there is nothing to do i like to go looking at audio gear from chain stores right on up to high end audio shops, and i can say that, hands down thees are by far the best speakers i have heard up to around the 2500-3000 range

Powerful Bass, Crystal Clear MIds and Highs!

Weakness:

You gotta get them shipped to you from Canada to audition them...also the cabs could be beefier but then again AXIOM may raise the price to give you this; never mind.

Wow! I have to echo all the praise that has been given to this speaker. I compared these to the following: POLK LSI9, Cambridge Soundworks Newton T500, and my exisitng Mirage OM8s. These M80s blew them all away. The highs and midrange are very clear and the base is powerful. Its hard to believe that the bass is not coming from a powered sub. My taste in music is varied and these speakers sounded great with everything that I listen to. In my opinion you can't do better today for the money. Of course if you are interested in spending two to three times more money, you may find some speakers with a slight improvement over these.
