I thought these B&W 302s would be good as rear monitors for my home theater system. But having read all the great reviews from Audiophile and HiFi Choice decided to use them in front. I was very impressed by the superb midrange clarity and balance of these two little guys. Granted the bass extension is not that great but for the money they are a great. Using them in conjunction with a subwoofer gives a more complete sound.I got these speakers from Sound Advice on sale at $200 p/pr. High marks !!!

I searched painstakingly for a great, sweet sounding, quality speakers at a students bucget. I tested out the Mission 701 and 702, and although they were tight and acurate...they just hurt to listen to. High ends were painful and the bass had alot to be desired. I then moved to a couple of Pardadigm's bookshelfer's but their midrange was lost and drowned out inside the tinny high ends. PSB failed to show me a nice sound although they can perform if given a good system. But all was night and day compared to the 302's i continue to gloat over. They're lively, punchy, graceful and accurate. At 25 x 2 NAD power they offer a sound quality that i can easily compare to my father's $12000 Bryston, Rotel, Adcom, Theil system. Bass is very deep for a bookshelf and when put on my brother's 65x2 JVC sytem they still performed superbly, delivering loudness with acuracy beyond any larger floor speaker at about a 11:00 o'clock volume. B&W have rarely failed to produce greatness in my mind. This is the best speaker for its price range and beyond.

I originally bought these as rear speakers. Just for the heck of it, I tried them in the front. Wow, was I surprised. These little guys have an incredibly crisp and bright sound! You get a great bang for your buck with these. Definitely compliment these guys with a medium- to small-size subwoofer. For a bedroom setup, this is exactly what the doctor ordered.

I purchased a Video1 and ref 2000.1 speakers from infinity and i thought it was good... my brother-in-law had a B&W 302 in his room and we would exchange movies... i noticed some difference in sound... the B&W 302 and CC3 was more crisp and clear... while the infinity was more bass... I would definitely recommend the 302's

I was really not satisfied with my system, when my main speakers were the mediocre Bose Acoustimass 5, so I bought a pair of B&W DM 302s. It soundes like if I had traded the whole system! Now I can listen to music! The B&Ws are dynamic, well balanced, detailed. They are a thrilling piece of speakers for a very decent sticker price. Their only drawback is the lack of real deep bass, though I would never expect such a thing from such a dismal speaker. Nothing a decent subwoofer can`t fix. Perfect for the size and for the price!

I was looking at 302s for rears in a B&W home theater system. (I like Paradigm and especially NHT, but wanted to give B&W another chance.) I listened to 305s at first and was not impressed, especially for $450 pr. I listened to 302s next. They were okay with jazz and light classical music at moderate volumes, but could not handle any heavy classical at even marginally loud volumes. They were moving quite a bit when I turned the volume up even a little. The 302s were typical B&W: a little warm, laid back, uninvolving, and not very accurate. However, for their meager $250 price, I say they're a pretty good value.
Even their bass was impressive for their size. Of course, you can get the superb NHT Super Zero for the same price and get sound twice as good, but with
absolutely no bass. I'd take the Super Zeros, but if you didn't want to get a sub, the B&W would be a better choice. The Paradigm Titan is also a nice speaker for $250, but I'd probably take the B&W just because it had better bass.
If you have to have a $250 speaker and won't add a sub, the B&W is the one to get. However, if you want absolute accuracy (and great sound with a sub), get the Super Zero. But I'd save up another $100 for the NHT Super One. Then you'd have a speaker that has good bass and great accuracy. The Paradigm Minimonitor would also be much better than the 302. If you have to go B&W, save up another $300 and get their cheapest decent speaker: the 602. The 602 is more than twice the price, but its more than twice the speaker of the 302. (However, I'd take the NHT Super One and the Paradigm Minimonitor over the 602 for $200 less!)
By the way, the 302 would make a suitable rear speaker for a modest home theater setup.

I recently did a quick demo of the B&W 302, NHT Super One, and NHT Super Zero.
I found the 302 to have a nice full sound for a bookshelf, but the lower treble was too harsh and the upper midrange a bit too far forward. Imaging was good, not great. Still, a nice speaker for the money; not one I would buy, but I think it would appeal to quite a few people. 3 stars to this one.

The NHT Super Zero is a nice little speaker, but forget it unless you're going to add a subwoofer. Detailed, smooth on top, and great imaging but no bass. 2 stars as a standalone speaker. Would give it 3.5 stars with a subwoofer.

The NHT Super One was my favorite of the three. Enough bass to be used without a subwoofer although a subwoofer would help them considerably. Detailed, smooth, fine imaging, tight though not deep bass, natural human voice reproduction. I still want to demo the PSB speaker in this price range and also the KEF Q-15, but as of now, the NHT Super One is at the top of my purchase list. 4 stars.

These low-end B&Ws are definitely worth a listen to. I purchased these great minis a little over a month ago and instantaneously loved them. They are very clean and efficient. Midrange in just right - actually inredible considering price-level. Highs are detailed and crisp. The bass is, ofcourse, lacking due to its small dimensions all around - still, the notes of an upright still come through with enough clarity and separation to enjoy any be-bop bass solo.Perfect for a relatively small room. I listen to Jazz, mostly. Warmth of sound, depth, and distinct separation of instruments = musicality to me. The B&W DM302s provide all of these with much style and little effort.

Don't pass these speakers up. They truly are small wonders. If you let price dictate the "value" your system, then these are obviously too "cheap" for you. But if you have a discriminating ear and are wary of spending too much on ...well, anything - this one of life's remaining true values.
5 stars to contestant 302.

I also just bought a pair 302 5 days ago, and have been breakingthem in ever since. They are indeed wonderful!
The only thing really lacking is the bass of course. Everything else
is really, really nice: midrange clarity, crisp trebles, fairly
solid soundstage (broad, nice depth relative to the back wall), and
quite palpable imaging with the better electronics (hence, quite revealing
overall for the job of the speakers!).
I also own the killer B&W CDM-1, and though the CDM-1s do outperform
the 302 in symphonic music (no surprise because of slightly deeper
bass), the 302s really shine in the smaller scale of music (chamber,
jazz, some rock/pop). Make sure you get nice solid stands.
Regardless of price, I'd rate the 302s 3.5 stars. For the price,
I cannot recommend them highly enough! They are worthly with
much more expensive electronics since they are so revealing.
