Strength:
good bass, mid and high
Weakness:
not really looking great without the grille lots of reviewers say the speakers lack off bass... we'll i think that for a set of speakers with >55hz in the specs they have a great, deep but just not to loud bass. most popular music forms have a 'puch' at 60-70 hz so that's shouldn't be a problem. the high tones are really great! Must say that these speakers make me enjoy music that i never liked before :-) this is my first set of 'decent' speakers, so i can't really compare them. i tried the mission m74 as well, thay are a bit more expensive but i found them a little 'unnatural' the mid was to strong for my opinion. Strength:
bi-wireable
Weakness:
none at this price... Quality speaker at this price point...nice imaging for a small floorstanding speaker. Good for HT, outstanding with a sub (I'm currently using a Boston PV600 for HT). For a two-channel set-up, I'd probably opt for 601's or 602's with good pair of stands. For HT, they're tough to beat. As for the bass complaints...I think you're all expecting too much from a fairly small full range speaker. It "is what it is" ...good all around speaker for the $$$. Strength:
size, sound, look
Weakness:
none yet I use 305s as front speakers and 302s as surround and a CC3 center channel with no sub yet but still get plenty of bass for my small living room and am very happy with the performance for both music and movies. Similar Products Used: poineer |

I have tested quite a few spekaers in the $1,200 - 400 range and have found nothing better for my system. I would have to give it a 5. Equipment list is as follows: Rotel 950 Receiver, Rotel 935 CD, Musicial Fidelity X-Act (DAC), Cambrige Audio Interconect, Kimber Dightial Cable, DH Lab Silver Sonic T14 Biwire Speaker Cable. This is a very musical speaker, open and dynamic. |

I bought my DM305s about a year ago as my first set of "real" speakers. Being straight out of college, I didn't have that much to spend (<$500), but wanted something that would last me a few years and sound good on a variety of music. I have a pretty diverse taste in music, though tending towards the acoustic/natural i.e. pop with an emphasis on vocals, classical, jazz, a cappella and the like. Unfortunately, I didn't realize until I started listening to different speakers that this type of music is not easy to reproduce faithfully and musically, especially on a budget. |

I have owned these speakers for about two weeks. So far the sound from these speakers are quite good. They replaced a pair of Cambridge Soundworks Model Sixes that I had for two years. The B&W speakers have a much more spacious soundstage with a much more accurate midrange especially for female vocals. I noticed that biwiring these speakers increased the sonic accuracy. Watching my DVD movies with these speakers, the soundtracks are much more alive! Because I have a friend that owns a stereo store, I only paid $250.00 for these speakers. What a bargain!!! The only tips that I can offer to anyone who is interested in these speakers are that biwiring them increases the accuracy and clarity of the sound that they reproduce and the addition of a subwoofer is necessary because these speakers can't reproduce very deep bass. |

Don't know about the B& 305's, but I'm about to decide on the 301's, which I've been comparing to Castle and Definitive Pro Cinema. I'm looking for a Sub/Satellite system, and the 301's @ $320 have excellent highs and midrange. Base seems lite, but that's not thier job. Thinking about a Paradigm PDR-10, or M&K V-75, for about $650 on the sub. Add a B&W center for $250-$300, and for $1300 I've got a great sounding speaker system to go with my Denon AVR 3200. |

The 305s are the best for under $500. I liked them better than the Paradigm's studio 20s. Their ability to diassapear is uncanny at this price in a room and their soundstange is great. I like thier dry, clean sound, but was bothered by an area of recession in the midrange (which caused me to upgrade to the 603s).There is no bass to really speak of, and they don't play really loud, but the cost is the same as mass-fi speakers which don't come mear the 305s performance. |

Strength:
Sound, value, bi-wireable, no stands needed.
Weakness:
None at price point These speakers are hard to find! I finally ended up ordering them in Cherry from my local dealer ($450pr). These things sound better to me than the 602s2 and are the same price as the 601s2. That may be why they are not always stocked. Interestingly, these cost much more than the 601's in England. Strength:
Bass. Range. Appearance. Bi-Wireable
Weakness:
None I bought these based on the reputation of B&W and on the reviews. The DM302, which is the monitor version of this speaker to some extent, received a recommended component recommendation from Stereophile. This speaker extends on the 302 in that it has a much wider bass range. I've played DVD's and CD's through these speakers and can say the sound has not disapointed. I haven't bi-wired it yet but that is in the works. The speakers are mated to a Creek 4330 amp which seems to be integrating well. For the money, I couldn't find speakers that sounded as good as these. Highly recommended. Similar Products Used: None. |
