Everything about it

Very Heavy, need space to sound their best Thank you MARK SKINNER for your review below. I got mine only a few days ago and I'm still being constantly amazed at the details that I can now pick up in my favorite songs. The bass is very accurate and fast but it can't quite match a decent Sub for low down grunt. The mid-range is simply fantastic, voices sound as if they're in the same room. The tweeter is the most outstanding thing about these speakers for me, the detail I can now pick up from the Hi-Hat/Symbols etc is....awesome to be honest. Similar Products Used: Mission 753F |

Everything! Built-in active subwoofer, Clarity, Soundstage, Very fast.
Weakness:
My ears for not finding any.... I am rediscovering some of my favorite CDs. The soundstage is amazing. You can almost see the location of each musician. As for movies these are something beyond my dreams. Not only it saves the subwoofer space but you get 4 bass active speakers which IMHO is stunning. Just listen to Jurassic Park I in DTS and Saving Private Ryan in DTS with a good HT amp (I use Denon 2802) and you'll see what I mean. I don't have enough words to describe how these speakers are moving me when I watch movies. They really put you in the middle of it. BASS - very fast, very, very deep and tuneful.. Clarity across the whole range superb.
Weakness:
More finishes would of been nicer - apart from that absolutely nothing Unpacked these straight from the box and they instantly sounded amazing (cant think of no other word). After a couple of days running-in they constanly amaze me, the bass hits low and I mean low and how controlled they are is phenominal. I heard sounds in some of my CDs that I have never heard before with previous speakers. The definition these speakers produce are out of this world, voices actually sound like there in the room - I would say these have a 3D sound which would take some beating, they actually send shivers down my spine. I just post this message because I thought that it might intrest you. I sent some feedback from their site(www.bwspeakers.com) to b&w about the lack of a cherry finish option on the dm-605s2. I got this as an answer: |

All in one package
Weakness:
price may be steep for some I think these speakers are a great addition to my home theater. They are a great all in one package since I dont have the room for a seperate powered sub. The sound quality is exceptional and these speakers seem to beg to be played even louder than I can play them currently in my apt. I feel they are a great buy if you can afford them. |

Strength:
Sound quality - especially the bass.
Weakness:
Its only available in black. Ever wanted HiFi speakers that could not only wield real bass muscle, but wallop it out with effortless control, whilst the other drive units simultaneously integrate nicely with the rest of the frequency spectrum. Of course you have - we all have. The trouble is, you never seem to come across the box that does it all, at a price mere mortals can afford. Enter the DM605's. Placing powered subs inside the speaker boxes seems to work so well with these B&W's - its hard to understand why everyone isn't at it. OK, in a HiFi system context, separate subwoofers have been around for ages, and many can theoretically outperform the 605's, but to my ears at least, they never quite 'disappear' sonically (or visually for that matter) in the room. So I've gone for many years without ever really finding the tight, shuddering bass I crave. Now, I'm in 7th heaven rediscovering the newly discovered bass in my CD collection. Don't let my bass 'focus' lead you to conclude that the 605's are one trick ponies - they are not. They sing beautifully with all types of music, and take high volumes in their stride. If it has a weakness, I would say that its got an identity crisis, as B&W seem to be marketing it as a AV product, and hence only available in black. This is at odds with the rest of the 600 series, all of which offer Cherry as an alternative finish. I've emailed B&W re this, indicating also that black is an 80's style finish and its now 2000. They said they decided against it initially, but it does get reviewd periodically. Well if this is important to you too (and these are big speakers...), then email them too. They have an excellent website with even the manuals available for download. Despite this I am very satisfied. Tremendous stuff. Similar Products Used: B&W DM603 |
