Strength:
warm sound
Weakness:
no weaknesses [NOT GOOD IN ENGLSH]I am a classical music lover in China. I bought these speakers for my new house together with the CD player (Marantz SA8400) and the amp (ONIX A120MK2). i used to listen to headphones, i prefer Sennheiser's warm and comfortable sound. Since i got these speakers, i threw away my Sennheriser HD650, the sound of 604S3 is absolutely wonderful, espicially the warm string sound. With two bass speakers, the bass is made a little---fat, and hard to control. if the amp is incapable of controlling the bass (the Marantz PM7200), the bass is fat and not good to listen. it's a good choice for hifi and home theatre users. Yes, the sensitive of the speakers are made high, so a tube machine can handle that easily. that's all i wanna say. in a word: a good buy! Similar Products Used: DM603S3

Strength:
sparkling highs , great mid range and bass that is very tight and present
Weakness:
finish is O.K. (Black Ash) Bought these speakers as a demo off the floor - had a pair of dm601's and really liked the sound - very balanced - this led me to check out reviews and have a listen to these speakers - the DM604 series3. After going thru dozens of speakers the last couple years (carver alIII,Klipsch Cornwall2,Thiel cs3.5,Kef 105 s2, paradigm 20v3, dahlquist dq-10, jbl 4311b,etc.) I have found these to be the best I have heard - sparkling highs , great mid range and bass that is very tight and present - I have yet to listen to a CD that hasent sounded fantastic thru this speaker - the balance of the sound from top to bottom is what really shines thru on this speaker - other speakers I went thru had their good traits, but none were as good all around as these speakers - I'm using a B&K amp (225wpc) and preamp and a Sony dvp-7000 for CD - highly recommended Similar Products Used: carver alIII,Klipsch Cornwall2,Thiel cs3.5,Kef 105 s2, paradigm 20v3 &monitor 5, dahlquist dq-10, jbl 4311b, Soundwave point source, boston vr-m50 |

4 year & still sound wonderful
Weakness:
NONE Wow! It has been 4 years since I bought my pair of DM 604S3....They still sound wonderful. When I have parties I get great comments about the speakers...I will have to say that these are still the best speaker that I have heard and they are will worth the money spent. If anyone can find a speaker that sounds better and that has an excellent history in home audio speakers please let me know so that I can compare them to mine. Since the day I purchased these I have not went out to really list to home audio speakers, I really have no need to becasue I am completely satisfied with my B&Ws.

Strength:
Built quality. Bass.
Weakness:
Vocals are not good enough for B&W. Equipped with spikes only. The speakers are very good looking and also well built. I see also no problem with grilles that has been mentioned below. Bass is powerful and clean. Even in very high volumes, speakers don’t have any problems whatsoever to cope. Unless you are a real bass-head, subwoofer is one too many.

None really - although bigger spike holes could have been made for larger/better spikes I bought these speakers as a replacement for a surround sound system i had stolen. Being a student i had to save a good time to be able to afford to buy them, as well as an amp, a cd player, and cable etc. I was originally attracted to there looks, and was reccomended B and W by my uncle, who works at Abbey Road recording studios. I love my bass, and wasn't expecting great things considering i couldn't afford a seperate sub, but the DM604's really knock my socks off - the bass is deep, powerfull, and if you want it - floor shaking. They really do belt it out. Midrange is clear, revealling sounds in music you never thought existed, and the treble is seriously clear and detailed. I never really rated treble untill i heard these speakers. I use a Marantz PM7001KI amp, and a Marantz 5001 CD player. Not the most high end of equipment, but i still get a fantastic sound, with zero distortion, even at room shaking volumes. Luckily I have fantastic speaker cable - moving earth reference series, at £250/m, and 12m of it, thanks to my uncle, so I can't comment on the difference hi end wire will make - as this is all i've ever used. My dad uses a Bose HiFi system, and the 604's knock it dead, his face when he first heard/saw it was priceless - as will your friends be. I defy anyone not to be impressed with these speakers - even if they work at Abbey Road. |

Strength:
Looks, sounded natural and warmth.
Weakness:
Heavy, but it's not a problem for me, 'cos it's not designed to mobile isn't it? Sorry for bad english. Just bought this speaker about 2 weeks, but it sounded nice even not yet "break in". Driven by Prologue Two tube amplifier, it heard natural, very warm, clear and detail from top to the bottom. But I have to be patient to hear "the real sound" after at least 200 hours isn't it? I thinks it's good for jazz or vocal listener, coz it's amazing soundstage and naturaly sound. |

Strength:
Good speaker
Weakness:
The Low ...mellow.... DOMINANT Base Sorry People, I know it is a verry good speaker. But for a classisal audiophile like me, the bass is to big. To dominant. It anoys me. Maybe for modern music it must be exellent. I am a 90-10% listener classical-modern. |

Looks, sound quality and price
Weakness:
cheap spikes, grills, veneer can chip off easily at the corners near the back end. This is a follow up review from my last one dated September 09, 2003. To keep tabs this set of speakers never seems to amaze my fasination. It is a truly marvelous pair of speakers I have ever owned or listen to. Versatile, able to perform under any conditions provided you pair it with a competent equipment. I use an Odyssey Mono Extreme amps to power up these speakers, mind you these sets are power hunger you need at least 200W to birng out the qualities it will not disappoint you. As you can read from my review on Odyssey Mono's it gave me great pleasure in listening and watching DVD's with deep well balanced bass no distortion at any level, clean well defined vocals and top of them all....LOOKS black veneer, yellow Kevlar cones with aluminum bass cones. Sounds comming out is amazing and the speakers would totally disappears, my 10 year old son would sit down with me and literally would come up to the speakers and make sure that the sound he hears in comming from the speakers. If I would upgrade my speakers right now it would be either B&W 804D, Martin Logan, German Physiks or MBL 101D I would greatly recommned this to my friends.
