B&W Nautilus 801 Floorstanding Speakers

B&W Nautilus 801 Floorstanding Speakers

DESCRIPTION

Visually stunning, the new Nautilus 801's form is governed by its function: the faithful reproduction of music, as intended by the artist, with the clarity, accuracy and dynamic scale required by discerning audiophiles and recording engineers.

Strength:

Soundstage,Imaging,dynamics and of course looks.

Weakness:

None

I sell Audio equipment for a living and B&W is our best
selling speaker line because they sound the best. I had
Nautilus 802s and upgraded to the 801s. The 802s were
fantastic, but the 801s are even better in my to small
room.
The imaging and soundstage are the biggest differance between the 802s and 801s.
I love the 801s, as a lot of people, and by reading the reviews I can see that there are people who do not love
them. We all have differant listening rooms, differant
equipment, differant likes and dislikes. Thank god we dont
all like to listen to the same thing or this would be a
boring site.
Again I think for the price 801s are great and I would
recommend an audition.
I do have a room a little to small but Im building
a house soon and not only did I build my equipment around
these speakers, I shall build my house around them.Happy listening!

Strength:

Incredible Realism, Full range bass response, about everything imaginable.

Weakness:

None that I have ever heard, exept that you need really good equipment to get the full potetial out of these speakers.

Please disregard that Idiots review, he obviously has no clue about what he is talking about. I have listend to these wonderfull and exemplitory speakers for so many wonderfull hours. But unfortunatly I can not afford a speaker in this price class, since you also need the right equipment, like the McIntosh AMPs or Krell High-End equipment. But, to the people who are fortunate enough to be able to buy these speakers, please also consider these speakers, Hales TRANSCENDENCE EIGHT, (halesdesigngroup.com), Magnepan ( MG 20) www.magnepan.com

PS: This speaker get my highest recommendation (If anyone cars).............

These speakers were too expensive. I came to my senses, and took them back, and bought a new car.

Poo Poo's review immediately below is utterly invalid and should be deleted at once: He obviously loved these speakers, but that love turned into tyrannous hate when he could not afford them ... People like that with their "reviews" ruin an otherwise invaluable consumer site. If you are a jester, express yourself at the appropriate place, like under the Grand Enigma speakers.

Strength:

Price goes OK for this

Weakness:

Low involvement

Heard them in a marathon of the best speakers available. The 801 did nothing particular wrong but I missed the involvement into the music. Compared to the rest of those above I mostly felt like "ok, but which movie runs tonight?" . Do you ever had the experience, wanting something else while listen to a system ? This will never happen in a state of the art chain. That chain was build up with Accuphase gear at a value of maybe 5-7 times the price of the 801. But even a $5000 Spectral DMA 100 on the Evidence was UNEQUALY better at a similar system-price. For the latter: a jaw-dropping experience even in my 15 years as audiophile! Have a chance to hear the Evidence ? Run for it! If you have components much more expensive than the speakers -thats likely not a good match. Is the 801 bad or the Accuphase gear ? I can´t say but I guess for the first. Within these speakers I have heard above, the 801 was the cheapest but the worst. Did you expect something else ? But for this price you cant go wrong either. A good value-rating for sure, in absolute terms there is much better out there.
