Strength:
I have installed and enjoyed eight pairs of these speakers—six pairs in my current home and two pairs in my last house. As one might suppose, I would not have invested in six pairs for my current home unless I had been very favorably impressed by my earlier experiences with this speaker model.
Weakness:
While these speakers will not leave you in a state of bass deprivation, a subwoofer complements them beautifully. In two rooms of the whole-house audio installation, I have run speaker-level outputs from the wall-mounted volume controls to 50-watt Polk Audio powered subwoofers. This enables the subwoofer to attenuate its volume along with the speakers in response to the wall-mounted volume control. The subwoofer’s speaker-level outputs then go out to the speakers. The beauty of this installation is that the VI-38s do so well on bass down to about 80 Hz, so the subwoofer’s crossover can be set very low, thereby allowing the subwoofer to do what it does best, while also getting a pleasant full-range sound field from the Bic VI-38s.
Spectacular performer for the price! Customer Service Never needed Similar Products Used: I have not used other brands of in-wall speakers after discovering BIC America, but I have certainly listened to Klipsch, JBL, and Polk in-walls elsewhere, and I would never have perceived any superior sound quality from the more epxensive brands. |

Strength:
Incredibly open, natural, balanced sound. Tweeter and midrange attuanator, swivel tweeter inside woofer Clear instructions, easy install
Weakness:
none noted Over the years I have accumulated numerous pairs of quality loudspeakers. Big boxes, no kids, everybody happy. Now they are in the way of kids and wife. Tried several satellite/subwoofer systems, till I installed the BIC VI38. The soundstage in very clear and open. Unable to pinpoint the speaker due to the infinite baffle design of the wall. Best sub$500 transducer on the market: all you pay for is the actual driver, not the MDF box. |

Strength:
Excellent sound, extraordinary price
Weakness:
None I needed a pair of in-wall speakers and I didn't want to pay a lot for them. I read several good things about B.I.C. speakers and found the VI-38 in-wall speakers at 1Cache.com for $149 for the pair plus shipping. Figuring that they couldn't be that bad for the price, I bought a pair. I have to say that I have been stunned at how good they sound. If I hadn't paid so little, I might be a little less impressed, but I can find no real flaws with these speakers. Sure, there are better (and more expensive) in-wall speakers out there, but you absolutely will not beat these speakers for the sound/price ratio. Similar Products Used: None |
