Strength:

Easy to hide, firm woofer. Perfect for smooth listeners. does not require a big amplifier to shake the neibours

Weakness:

Not ideal for prodigy or chemichal brothers fans. Doesn't earn it's money. Satelites are considered broken if they fell of the table.(it happend). Very weak middle range, does not like operas, but loves jazz and massive attack. And it really hates guitars.

Nice choise for a 40 year old fellow who likes smooth music but not the speaker system you want to listen rock to. It get's some extra points for movie experience, since it creates an intresting surrounding effect, but wouldn't consider it as a full range audio system. Works perfect with a pair of stiff monitors helping around the middle range. It can cover a relativly large room delivering optimum sound effects, but it's never easy to find the perfect spot for a woofer in a living room, since you can get really bad sound if you fail to do it right..

Strength:

small size.

Weakness:

need to be driven at high volumes to achieve good sound.

great speakers. small, but can produce loud sound. people say that the bass is weak and muddy in these speakers but infact thats the best part. deep and low frequency with no distortion. i run these speakers on the 11 o'clock position of my yamaha amp(80watts rms per channel), they sound loud and clear. great for home theater also. protection circuit installed in them protects these speakers from blowing at high volumes.

I wish I had know what was out there before I wasted my money on these speakers. Now that I'm able to afford some new speakers, the Bose are going in the trash.

Low bass is not there

I have to admit that I like these speakers for how I am using them. They are in my living room and you do not see them. I like to think of them as nice speakers that are misunderstood. I use them as background speaker, because our living room is not our primary listening area. The do what I need them to, produce big sound from a small package. I do not require them to be completely accurate, (consumer reports seems to think that they are) just easy to listen to. I will conceed that they are over-priced, so I will not be buying another set, bit they will be in the living room until the decor changes. 2 stars for value, 3 overall for ease of use and basic sound reproduction.

I love the sound of these speakers, especially with music. With movies, I found the bass response wanting. I've since purchased a sub-woofer and the whole system sounds great. The dispertion of the sound track is so good during a movie my dogs have looked for people walking behind the couch. If your space is limited or you want speakers that are unobtrusive, these are a great buy.

Strength:

very high on the wife acceptance scale

Weakness:

very low on the sound reproduction scale

Originally I was AMAZED that all that sound was coming from those tiny speakers. I bought them, set them up at home, and realized they only sound good when they are played loud. Plus they must have set them up really well in the store, because I just couldn't get them to sound the same at home. And I can't listen to them loud for very long. I would like to sell my AM-5s and get better speakers. My problem is my wife doesn't want speakers in our living room. I give them 2 stars because of what they do for their remarkably small size.

Sound and Design

Weakness:

Easy to set up incorrectly

I like these speakers, I owned Pinnacles prior and the sound compares favorably. One thing I have noticed with Bose (AM models in particular) Placement is everything. If the bass module is placed incorrectly they will sound like sh#t. I think this happens more with AM's than other systems. If care is place them correctly, they will sing for most types of music.

On a different note.
There are many who have reviewed these speakers that should not have, mainly people who do not own them (from their own admission). I hope that people who are interested in these speakers will try to read all of the reviews of people who actually own them, and go listen to them in person for a clear picture of them. If you like them, buy them.

Build Quality; Sound Quality; Value

What can I say...? I owned these duds about 3 1/2 to 4 years ago, and was completely dissatisfied with them.

I tried just about everything to get them to sound right in my room, but the highs just did not seem to be there. The midrange sounded like it was being veiled and the lows were unimpressive.

Needless to say, I changed speakers to the Definitive Technology 100.6 sub sat system (that still resides in my home as my bedroom system) and all was fixed! I eventually traded in the rotton Bose speakers towards my Legacy Studios (thank you Legacy for paying me $425 in trade in for those pieces of junk)... and *now* I am a very happy man!

I admit to being another victim of the Bose marketing hype... Don't make my mistake... Buy just about *anything* other than Bose. Definitive, Energy and Galo all offer speakers at the Bose price point that kill them!

Strength:

???

Weakness:

some(bass module, low frequency response, placement, power and presence)

I'm updating my review since i now had the chance to test these speakers for along period of time.
Bass is "dirty" and poor with a cut off for the bass module to high(im even wondering if it reaches 45Hz). just try the scorpion's Moment of Glory in music n 9(Big city nights). After the first peak of bass in the start there is a sound that goes pretty low and i just can't hear that on the speakers but i can so on my Sony LBT 455(2 speaker stereo with a sub per speaker- 40W each) and that sound makes my windows shake like hell. Also the mids and highs are overpowered but there is a region in the mids that these speakers cannot fill (i'm thinking 1500 - 3000). These end up by being good for music that doesnt pull so hard on low bass and low mids. They are good for "fiestas" since i never heard them distort and i have them hocked up at a 120 W/C. For the price some people here paid i would buy a sub at around 250W/C(yamaha) and sony ssm-f600h.
