Strength:

Easy to hide. Good for home theater applications.

Weakness:

No mids. Muddy bass. imaging and soundstage S**k.

I think these are good for rears in home theater sound.Other than that they are missing too much in the mids for music of any style. There are many other speakers out there in the same price range that will absolutely blow them away.

Strength:

Sound, Size, And SOund

Weakness:

limited on music genres

I bought these speakers in 1987, they sound like brand new. The bass module is wearing out a little but it can be fixed. For the cubes, what can i say. They Rock. They are not the best all around speakers. They don't work that good for rap and hip-hip, for that you might wanna try bigger speakers. For movies they are awesome. These were worth every pennie.

Strength:

Size Bass

Weakness:

None at this price

I have sold all my good gear, MF a300/ Reference 3a decpo, and wadia 830 cd. I needed something though to fill the void, I just cant believe how good these sound on my rusty little denon 3600 and toshiba 5200, I now listen to all my music as opposed to just great recordings.if you want reasonable sound, have limited space (my room is 6x5)then these are the best value for money, I know they get a bad wrap, but they have just amazed me, and taken the snobbery out of listening to music....

Strength:

Great Bass response and wonderful highs.

Weakness:

None that I can think of

These speakers are great. I love the thunderous BASS these produce when I play loud rock or rap! Others have said these suck but I love them. It is as if they are "invisible". For the price they are awesome and they are definitely worth every penny I paid for them.

Strength:

Size, sound quality

Weakness:

Terrible, if set up wrong.

Great speakers, when set up correctly. If not put in properly, they suck. These things are amazing for their size. I was using them for my home theater, but now are used for my music room. The bass is not that great from the sub, I would recomend getting another sub if you want bigger bass.

Strength:

None. Very average sound

Weakness:

Way too expensive

The worst thing about the Bose line is the pricing. If their products sold for 1/2 of the MSRPs, they''d be competitive in the mid-fi market. Case-in-point: I used to sell audio equipment in a retail store and we took in a set of the Bose AM5s on trade. We set them up in a demo room next to a sat/sub set from Boston Acoustics that had an MSRP of $399.00. (The AM5''s MSRP was $799.00) The Bostons were every bit as good as the Bose at 1/2 the price!! In fact the Bostons had better highs, maybe due to the fact that the BA satellites had tweeters in them!? Also, the BAs deep bass was better defined and less muddled.

Strength:

Very good sound at reasonable volumes, compact size.

Weakness:

Price is ridiculous nowadays, sound quality varies greatly depending on music.

I bought these way back in 1995 at a store I worked for at a good discount. I must admit I was young and drawn in by the name as much as anything else. These speakers can sound fantastic given the right volume level and music, but they are very picky. They don''t like straight rock n roll much and you can forget about hip hop,the sub won''t take it. If you like jazz or pink floyd on vinyl, these things are heaven, but still overpriced. They might have been a step ahead when introduced, but the competition has caught up and then some. I still use and enjoy mine, but at full retail you are getting robbed.

Strength:

Size.

Weakness:

Still pricey compare to other sub/sat speaker systems.

Wow, there are sure alot of Anti-Bose reviewers here. But whatever, he is my review. I have the passive AM5 version which sounds great in a relatively small area of listening and the floor is carpeted. I find that the sound to be focused and crisp for stereo mode. I mainly use my speakers for my front surround sound for movies. When I first got these, it was used with a Yamaha receiver and sounded great, then came 5.1 receivers, so I opted for a high-end Sony receiver and my speakers sounded horrible. With the Sony, bass was too boomy, highs were too scratchy at higher volumes. I just replaced the receiver with a Yamaha RX-V1200 and the speakers sound fine once again. Just an end note. To those that say that there are better speakers out there than these AM5s, YES I agree, but at the time these came out there were no equal. Since then, all these others have copied the ''Bose'' idea of speakers

Strength:

Small Size, Good 3D Sound

Weakness:

Can't use thick cable, not for Audiophile

I bought Bose AM5 Mark 3 because it size so I can install 2 pairs of speaker, one pair for AV & one pair for Hi-Fi. Connect AM5 to AV System have good 3D Sound. The mid-range poor, bass strong & can't use the thickness speaker cable If you are audiophile is not for you.
