Strength:
They are small and would blend into most interiors
Weakness:
Sound I had the misfortune of helping a friend from work set up this speaker system in his basement. They are pitiful. How BAD? |

Strength:
Great highs and sound with audio CD's, good surround sound, very unobtrusive appearance
Weakness:
Bass and midrange vary greatly depending on placement and A/V receiver used I have had this set for three years as my primary front right, left and center channel speakers with some modest rear channel speakers. While the prior Harmon Kardon receiver was adequate for basic music and surround sound, it never seemed to really meet the bill. Recently, I read a number of highly conflicting reviews in this segment with some rating this system poorly and others very high. The difference it seemed was with placement of the speakers and the center module. The one prevailing point was that contrary to other speaker systems, it was best to have the speakers as high and apart as possible with the bass module facing toward the wall. Prior to changes, I had my speakers concealed within a custom made 8'x14' entertainment cabinet I had built for my Hitachi big screen. |

I have been into home theatre for a while. I run my AM7's off a Yamaha DSP A1 with Jamo graphics for front effects & AM5's for rear. I added a Velodyne 15" Sub recently as the Bose cannot handle LFE, which is only fair. The passive sub is not designed to do that. I have been quite happy considering the size of these speakers. True the Klipsch & other LARGE speakers sound heaps better, but then you pay for what you get. Also, what I like best about this system is the size, and the sound that comes out of these little cubes. If you balance your sound properly & set it up well with a good active Sub, you cant go wrong. I have played around with the system for so long, that even the Bose sales reps don't believe the sound I get out of them. Finally, the center speaker is the weakest link. Make sure your setup says "small" for center, and keep the level low. If you have a graphic EQ for center, cut the Mids down a bit. Made a big difference in mine. |

Strength:
-Small frontprint
Weakness:
-Too many speaker wires I bought my Bose AM-7 system back in 1993 and have nothing but good things to say about it. I've listened to Klipsch, Infinity, and most other major brands in the stores and these speakers are just fine for my home theater. I have them hooked up to a Yamaha RX-V995. The bass module is addequate for handling music and movies. I added a Yamaha subwoofer so my couch would shake when a Death Star Destroyer flew by in Star Wars. I recommend this speaker system to anyone who wants to build a home theater. |

Strength:
Clear solid rich sound. Good imaging
Weakness:
Has no cube speakers for rear speakers. I noticed that there was a mixture of 1 star and 5 star ratings for these speakers. I feel the reason for this is that good sounding speakers will only sound good if you connect good quality gear to the speakers. Similar Products Used: Kef C25 pair of speakers |
