Strength:

These speakers are invisible! At any level the highs, midrange and low end are awlays excellently balanced.

Weakness:

Not really a weakness, the program quality (CD's) is displayed with great accuracy. These speakers will show off the faults of less than modern recording techniques. I've got friends that swear that what they are hearing is a speaker that's distorting when in fact it's the program quality they are hearing.

I've read the two postings about the Boston shipping method.
I'm sorry to hear that and somewhat relieved that the review was still objective about the sound quality. I do agree that the these units rate a high five star for sound quality. I didn't experience the shipping damage but would suggest to Boston that they do take a good look at their packing procedures. The shippng boxes,it would seem, should use some refinement. Not enough packing to protect the cabinets. A careless UPS guy could do some damage. I guess I lucked out. Mine were in fine condidtion when I unpacked them.

I have never heard a speaker that totally disappears and lets the source material dictate. The VR's do this! Be it CD's,DVD or just regular television sound.

Every Friday night my wife and I host a loud music party. We invite friends to bring music that they would like to hear at concert levels. Consequently the these speakers play some very diverse music. There hasn't been a single moment of protest from these speakers. Everything has sounded great. Although some types of music sounds better loud than others. To give you an idea about the accuracy of these speakers one friend brought over a Zappa disk. While listening it dawned on my friend that two of the tracks were recorded live. He had listened to this disk quite a few times and had never hear the subtle crowd noises in the background. He was amazed.

I posted shortly after I got them and was initially dissapointed because of the lengthy break in period. Lengthy for me anyway. That's all in the past now after about five months. I would recommend these guys to anyone looking for a spearker that plays more expensive than it is.

Strength:

Phenominal sound; what more could you ask for?

Weakness:

None that I have found.

Awesome speaker for Music AND Home Theater. Sounds much better than any speakers I have heard and for the price I can't think of anything better. Bass is superb. Yes, the lobby shooting scene in Matrix is absolutely amazing with these to say the least. Highs and mids are crystal clear. Ok, I definitely don't have the best system. (Or even close for that matter). But these speakers are most certainly a step in the right direction. My current system:

Receiver: Sony STR-DA777ES
Mains: Boston Acoustics VR975
Ok, everything else is pretty much bargain basement but I'll mention it anyways.
Center: KLH Premium Series 525
Surrounds: Technics SB-SL101
CD: Technics PD8 5 disc changer
DVD: RCA 5220P

Strength:

These speakers are LOUD and CLEAR. They'll provide music you can feel.

Weakness:

Subs tend to lose sound quality at high volumes.

The Boston VR975's in my setup, make up for the weaker speakers I have in the rest of my set up. These speakers make everything soung so good, because it fills the room with unbeleivable sound.
