These little babies are well worth the $299 I paid for them. They let you experience entry-level home theater without spending thousands of dollars. My only complaint is the slightly underpowered "subwoofer." |

Strength:
Excellent value, complete DD5.1 kit, very small
Weakness:
low power, weak sound in 4-point mode, no remote This is a great starter system for someone who doesn't want to run out and spend two grand just to hear Dolby Digital soundtracks. For just over $200 you get everything you need to get great audio from your DVDs in a very compact package. Decoder, amp, speakers, cables, and mounting hardware are all included. I figured this would just hold me over until I finished moving and had time to get a "real" sound system but I just haven't felt the need to upgrade. |

Strength:
Built in Dolby Digital Recievers, Back Speakr stands, Sticky Velcro,
Weakness:
Speaker wire input in the decoder is a single RCA input rather then std pos/neg wire inputs The cambridge Desktop Theater 5.1 is surprisingly loud considering the 5 satelites are only uotputing 7 watts each. Sound is crisp and clear. The subwoofer sounds "cheap" as it probably is. Its a bit hollow sounding and getting the right volume for it compared to the sats is a bit hard. The speaker wires come in 3 and 5 meter sets for the front center and back, wish they were a little longer, but I'll live. Fortunately you can buy a powered subwoofer to enhance this system. But for $200 dollars and shopper.com you get a very competent Computer speakers and a decent Dolby Digital setup considering a decoder will cost you $200 buy itself. The spdif input is an added plus. |

Strength:
Clean sound , Cheap, Dolby Digital
Weakness:
Sub Is weak I love these speakers. Sound is incredible. I bought these speakers after hearing Klipsch promedia .Klipsch speakers are very loud and sound very good. Their bass is incredible. I wanted speakers for my computer and Pioneer Dv-525 dvdplayer. I thought how bad could these speakers be. I got them for $190 shipped with good return policy. When I opened the package I was really disappointed. The speakers were very light and small (Bose Like). I did not even want to hear them I wanted to return them immediately. Before testing these speakers, I made sure that I would be able to return an open package. This package came with all the cables and stands. It took me about 1/2 hour to assemble everything. I attached Dolby Digital output from my dvd player to Dolby Digital input of the receiver. Then I attached rear and front cables from the receiver into my sblive value sound card. First I started with Mp3. The sound was very good and loud but it lacked the bass Klipsch speakers had. Then I tested Matrix and Saving private Ryan and few other dvd's. The sound was incredible but again I felt sub was little weak. I was playing with the receiver when I saw Sub out. I thought what will happen if I attach Microsoft Dss80 sub to Receiver's sub Out. I quickly went to Local Radio shack and bought 3.5 Stereo plug to Rca Converter. I attached the sub and I was amazed how much difference adding another sub makes and how good this combination sounded. I thought this combination sounded better than Klipsch Speakers. I cannot believe I now have an excellent Dolby Digital Setup for $190. Similar Products Used: Klipsch promedia , Microsoft Dss80 |

Strength:
great sound, plenty loud for small room, cheap, DD
Weakness:
sub (just get a powered one), no remote I have the dtt2500 and i have to say I have really enjoyed this system. It has great sound plenty loud for my small room and connections for my dvd player sound card and vcr. the sub it came with only managed a constant irritating hum so i replaced it with a klh 10'120 which is a little boomy for music but great for movies and for games the bass for gunfire sounds just awesome. only issue after replacing the sub is no remote but they do have a remote with the dtt3500. I've never had the klipsch speakers in my room but from what i've heard in stores i think the dtt2500 sounds better. |

Weakness:
cheap materials, squeeky distored highs, non-existent bass, cheesy ass everything....overall this is soooo overpriced This is not even worth a review in my humble opinion. So its 5.1 Digital (who cares..there isnt enough power output to enjoy the digital aspects). Creative and Cambridge took a dump and out came this system. Similar Products Used: ADA-500 |

Strength:
Clear Sound, Decoder included, Great Price, Stands, Easy to Mount, Versatile
Weakness:
No volume control for front two speakers, no remote control (have to get off my ass to turn this one up!), may want to upgrade sub! Amazing the value for this set. The are extremely easy to set up and are a nice little set for small rooms. I love them and will never regret getting them, however that isnt to say that I'm not ready for an upgrade now! (JBL s38's baby!) The are best for either 5.1 computer systems or beginning home theaters. I highly recommend them, you can't go wrong. Similar Products Used: Altec Lansing |
