Strength:
mids and highs are superb...a touch on the upfront side...Lacks deep, deep base
Weakness:
the control unit....it did not work with my Proceed AVP In short, very good speakers for the price. Great build and worksmanships. Wondefully rich and musical in the mids. Female voices are almost alive, a feeling of "you ar there" transperency. Male voices are great too. Well balanced across the wavelenght spectrum, but lacks in the very Deep base section. fantastic for chamber music, jazz, vocals and orchestral pieces...The idea of giving this speaker a rating of 1 is an utter JOKE!!! dynamic
Weakness:
about 200 hours of using berfore they sound as intended This is a very good speaker if you look at price vs performace. Sure there are better speakers around so you have to look at the price and what you get, and try to avoid having eyes blinfolded and just compare all speakers with the same reference(not like Per rew no 33). Strength:
Plays all kinds of music well. It goes really deep in the bass. Usable bass down to 20 Hz
Weakness:
At the price I wouldn't say that it has to many I have owned quiet a number of speakers, and must say that these are the most complete speakers I have ever owned. The special thing with the Cantons is that they come with an external active box, and it is used to send out a mirror image of what the speaker is doing wrong - (Said really simple). The point to this being that no speaker is perfect, and this box makes the speaker sound more even and makes the frequency-spectrum of the speaker more flat. Another thing it's doing is making the speaker go deeper in the bass. The cut-off frequency of this speaker is 18 Hz. Musically the Cantons are easy to listen to, even over long periods of time. The midrange is detailed and warm and the treble is convinsing and goes up to 20KHz without weekening. The tweeter is a metall dome and that means it can handle high volumes over long periods off time without burning up. NOT like soft domes, or at least some of them :) The bass is very deep and stable, but if you are mainly after punch in the bass region and having your ears burned by dance & tecno, this speaker may be a little too much in controll of its low end. But some of the things I listen to are quiet hard & heavy music and the bass depth of this speaker suits that kind of music really well, although some still may say that it is just to controlled - a matter of taste. This speaker is perfect for home cinema by the way. And Canton have a really good matching center channel. My matching components are Electrocompaniet ECI-1, Pioneer PDS-06 & Harmonic Tech cables.
