Strength:
superior midrange, great soundstage, disappears
Weakness:
treble can be very bright and harsh with poor amplification, bass is light and leaves you looking for more i had these monsters for over a year way back in 90. I like reading the overly hyped critiques by owners who really arent fessing up to this speakers shortcomings. I spent ages setting these up in every configuration and room size and damping possible. I also tried these with every cable and equipment type imaginable. the strenghts are in a seamless midrange and amazing soundstage. weaknesses are thin(but ranged) bass that nothing can really cure. Highs can be very bright except with the finest and darker yin of yang amps. dont get me wrong i had lots of enjoyment from these but in the end they are flawed in the areas mentioned and i would prefer less superior midrange in exchange for unflawed bass and treble. would i pay 1500 for these now- no would i play around with high pass crossovers and subs with the carver midrange drivers for under 500$- sure. |
