The AT-12 is a remarkable loudspeaker especially for the price. The new RE and VS series Vega's don't compare. I love the clarity, sensitivity and low frequency responce on the AT-12. They are awesome with a powerful amp. I use a 500w/ch Carver amp. 5 stars |

I have owned a pair of Cerwin-Vega AT-12's for almost 3 years, and find them to be very capable of producing pleasant sound at any volume. The tweeter supplied with this speaker is a strong player. The bass is somewhat mushy, but expectedly so with Cerwin-Vega. |

Ever since hearing my brother's C-V DX-1's, I vowed to become a Cerwin-Vega owner myself. The DX-1's produced crisp highs, superb midrange and an abundance of tight Bass. I was taken aback by the performance of such small speakers (2-way - 8" woofer, 1" horn tweeter). Along with these speakers my brother had also purchased a System 7 Cerwin-Vega HT-CTR Top-of-the-line Center Channel. The Midrange and Vocals of this speaker simply Cannot be beat by anything near it's price range. The 2 6.5" midranges with the 1" tweeter can outperform any centre speaker below $400; crisp, clean, powerful and accurate at any volume.About a year and a half ago I outdid my brother by purchasing a pair of Cerwin-Vega AT-12's - needless to say (trading up from a pair of 100 W Yamaha speakers) I was stunned by the bass produced by the 12" woofer. However, the 4" Midrange was sometimes overpowered (with _some_ types of music) by both the woofer and the magnificient 1" tweeter. With the recent application of an equalizer, that problem has been virtually eliminated. Compared with the DX series (and the new VS series) the Bass response from the AT's can go lower, but it's not quite as tight and punchy as the other series'. |

Strength:
Tough, dependable speakers. Will hold up to almost anything. Contrary to what some of these so called "audiophiles" say, they don't sound too bad either.
Weakness:
Since the speaker housing is ported and not sealed, sound is colored a bit. When I was 15, I saved up enough money to buy these speakers. Now I'm 24 and I still like these speakers. I know they are not reference quality by any means, however, they don't sound like crap either. They are efficient, reliable speakers that sound decent. They serve has decent home theatre speakers as well. Bottom line, the AT-12s will take whatever you throw at em. Similar Products Used: Cerwin Vega center channel speaker, Polk Audio Rears. |

I don't care what any of you think. These Cerwin Vegas are excellent speakers. The best set I have ever bought. Good bass, and very clear sound. |

Weakness:
can't think of any I bought mine mail-order because I allready knew how Cerwin Vega speakers sound, having owned a piar of S-1s since the late 70,s.The S-1,s wouldn't keep up with my new high-currant amp,so I needed something tougher.Boy,do these fit the bill! They sound excelent with any music and will take anything you throw at them.I can't figure out why people think they're not good for classical or jazz.I listen to a wide variety of music (incuding rock, classical, jazz, folk, soundtracks, etc.)and these speakers do a good job with all of it.There may be better speakers out there, but not at this price. Strength:
Deep-clean bottom end.Solid-well rounded mids.Excellent efficiency for low powered HT receivers.
Weakness:
May not be suited for classical/jazz listeners I purchased my AT-12's at a great home electronics discounter at a blowout in 97',right before they discontinued the series.I first heard them through my brother's pair and I was overwhelmed to say the least.Athough he was running them through a high powered commercial amp (the Carver PM-1400),I found that my humble 100 HT receiver does well enough. Some reviewers here are right. They are "indestructable".My brother claimed to have put 700 watts peak (at 0db) into them and they took it in stride. Not bad for loudspeakers rated at 250 w/ch! Other pos floor standing models by other major manufacturers would of blew up at that point! The voice coil would've fried! I read an article in a pro-sound trade mag in which some bunch of nutty DJ's from CA hooked up an AC cord to them and PLUGGED THEM IN A 120V OUTLET AND THEY JUST STOOD THERE!! CV's are exactly what they advertise, loud "scare your neighbors" brawn..Excellent for any style of analog or digital music sources.Even sufficient for home theatre (of course, with the right center channel). Some reviewers disagree on the HT application.I would have to say that the action genre works best here.I played the opening title sequence of "The Rock" (1996-Hollywood Pictures) on DVD and the dramatic Hans Zimmer score rumbled the room with moderate volume without being overbearing, although classical listeners would have to look elsewhere if they are seeking accuracy and rounded tonality.Shame they discontinued them..Real solid cabinet and looks best in the black walnut finish.. |

I'd like thank everyone who gave praise to this speaker, because today I was lucky enough to find a pair in great condition, for $150.00, FOR THE PAIR! The lady didn't even know how to disconnect them from her system. This is the best thing I found, since I found The Beatles'Abbey Road album for .75 cents. Life is good, no it really is. |

I HAVE HAD MY AT-12s SINCE 92 AND FOR THE PRICE RANGE I HAVENT FOUND ANYTHING THAT BEATS THEM. SOME SAY YOU HAVE TO RUN THEM ON HIGH POWER EQUIPMENT, BUT MINE SOUND GREAT ON THE CRAPPY, LOW POWERED DENON I HAVE.THE BASS IS TIGHT AND RESPONSIVE, FOR ANYBODY THAT SAYS IT SOUNDS MUSHY,MUDDY,OR BOOMY, THEY SHOULD PROBABLY CLEAN THE SLUDGE FROM THEIR EARS |

Ive had my AT12's for quite some time now. I still love them. People have different opinions about CV's. But if you just want loud, efficient speakers CV is the way to go |
