Strength:
I live in a house that is not too close to anyone who would be bothered, Haven't exploded them yet.
Weakness:
Not designed for low level background music. Saw them on the floor with some other speakers piled on top. I knew the owner was just clearing out his overstock and didn't know or care what the jewels really are capable of. Hooked them up to my Hafler TransNova,Onkyo P304 pre-amp and gemini CD-4000. Stunning sound! Everything you could ask for in a good small speaker. |

Strength:
These speakers have an unbelievable headroom as well as a very high sensetivity rate so they'll play clean and clear at low volumes. The sound is very precise and would rival any high end speaker out there today....Not to mention that these speakers age like a classic street rod.
Weakness:
there aren't any These speakers blew me away when i first hooked them up. I picked them up used at the corner pawn shop :) I know a good speaker when i see one and my god i was floored when i saw a pair of re's sitting in the corner under a blanket of dust. I took them on over to a receiver and played them to find that they sounded like they had never been abused. Then I popped off the woofer on each speaker and metered them to find they read a clean reading. A few minutes later I took them to the counter and offered them 50 bucks for them hoping they had no idea what they were. They took my offer !! When I got them home I opened the grills up. These things are mint. Not a single scratch on the wood finish and surprisingly i found the nameplates from the grills hidden inside the grills. I popped those back on the front of the grills; hooked them up to my technics 1040 and sat back in sonic bliss. Strength:
Durability, construction, price, !QUALITY!
Weakness:
Highs a little muddy These have very nice sound. The highs do not compare to Klipschs, but then again neither does the price. Otherwise, they bump the room and shake the house. Great for loud listening and modern music. They will not disappoint you. Also using a pre-amp with an equalizer can help enormously. They can handle my 9090DB to a certain limit, but it is hard to reach it without having the police called. Similar Products Used: Klipsch, Sansui, Wharfedale, etc. |

Strength:
SOUND QUALITY, looks, they can be VERY loud
Weakness:
not great response at low volumes (very low) MAN can these things rock. They have incredible response all around there range. I listen to a lot of old Jazz which pushes every part of a speaker and these things Laugh at the challenge when I blow tweeters on JBL's. The only thing that they are not great at is when I listen to them at night at very low levels their imaging is poor, but then again they are big speakers doing no work, just not enough power to move the cones. Strength:
Very strong, responsive bass, crisp highs (at high and low volume) as well as perfect sound imaging and balance.
Weakness:
I have honestly not found a single one, and I strongly doubt that I will. I bought these speakers in January of 1997 to replace some 3-way JBL's with 8'' woofers that I bought at Circuit City. The JBL's were an open box deal, and I will try not to ever make that mistake again. One of the speakers was blown out, probably from being cranked up on the demo amp. These speakers really rock!! Since they use a 6 ohm design you dont need a real expensive amp to make them pump. They punch hard, the 12's punch harder though. I kinda wish they come cheaper in Canada but, thats ok. They handle the max with no distortion. They are very effeciant so they can run on low wattage amps. They make any "low powered" amp sound real loud. Only one complaint, they could sound abit clearer though but thats not a big issue for me.Specs |

Strength:
Great sound and even better value
Weakness:
6 Ohm Love the speakers, bought them over 5 years ago and they still sound great. I have heard many other more expensive speaker and would not even think about trading. These also survived my college years, if they can handle that they should be able to handle anything. Great bass and clarity. I have them with a yamaha receiver and i couldn't be happier. The RE-25 Series speaker from Cerwin Vega is a very good speaker in regards to power-handling and clarity. The low end is very powerful and demanding. The mid-range is nice and so is the tweeter. If you are not afraid to "TURN IT UP" then the RE-25's will not back down not one little bit. Well designed and ready to ROCK!!! |

I owned these speakers for 5 yrs now and they still rock. They went through so many all night parties jammin the walls down. They have a high signal to noise ratio which you dont need a monster amp to get them to play loud. They put out suprising bass with good crisp midrange and high freqeuncy clarity. I have never been let down with Cerwin Vega speakers, they deliver good bang for the buck and that great concert like output I grown to love. Turn it up, more you hear, more you feel. Peace!
