Strength:

Great highs and mids, good lows. Blends very well.

Weakness:

If for some reason you didn't have a sub, the lows would be a little flat.

I lucked out on eBay. I have a full set from two different people. I have the 4" set with 6.5" midbass. I have the mids highed to 800Hz via a seperate Xover and the midbass 100 to the supplied Xover. Awesome system. One word of advice: give it close to full RMS.

Strength:

Decent midrange, seemingly uncolored highs

Weakness:

Somewhat weak in the lower frequencies for a 6.5", I guess that's why they created their new midbass

Overall a decent set of components. I am unsure how they get all of the praise in the only other review posted here. Must have been the manufacturer, damn schill.

Anyway, they do more right than they do wrong. Therefore, they don't sound offensive, and remain relatively neutral throughout their operating frequency (I have them high passed at 80Hz). Anyway, for $200.00, there was really nothing better. If you have more $$$, get yourself some Dynaudios.

Strength:

I love the soft, not too shrill highs! They carry throughout my vehicle very well.I am running a Soundstream 404(100x4)on these and on Boston 4x6 plates...sounds very nice.I love the shallow mounting depth also.

Weakness:

These speakers have only weakness...it is not clarity, nor volume,it is lack of low-end-umphh!I am still impressed though...afterall that is what the sub is for...right!?!

If you have a mid bass or sub that can cover 200hz and deeper, then you will be allright. These ar some sweet pieces!

better than Infinity Kappa's(they tend to color the highs/DEI's sound sweeter)

The cutting edge of speaker technology has now been made affordable by DEI
Audio. DEI's current model High Fidelity
component speakers were called "The
Best Budget Speaker System Money Can
Buy" and "Amazing Value: The World's
Best $275 Speakers" by Autosound 2000
at the 1997 International Consumer
Electronics Show.

Now, in 1998, DEI has taken that performance to another level by redesigning the midbass drivers,
with fiberglass reinforced injection-molded baskets, and stacked neodymium magnets inside the
voice coil.
The new design of the Studio components is shallower, and the small magnet diameter makes the
driver much easier to fit into today's compact car doors or kick panel installations. The much more
powerful neodymium magnet design, using a stack of three neodymium magnets, reduces distortion
significantly, and power handling is increased as well. The third magnet in the stack is deliberately
reversed in polarity, to focus the magnetic field like a laser beam in the voice coil gap.

The result? Even flatter frequency response curves than DEI's very successful current steel basket
High Fidelity models. The 4 and 5¼ inch models feature the same 25mm silk dome tweeter used in
the popular HF 2065 6½ inch component speaker system, and also ship with adapter plates for
drop-in installation in 4" x 6" and 5" x 7" / "6" x 8" applications.

All three Studio component systems have low-profile integrated flanges that eliminate the need for
grille mounting rings, and break away for Euro-compatibility if needed.
they sound btter than any 200 or 300 dollars speakers
