an extremly beutiful speaker with even more beutiful sound! you just have to hear it. finish 5 star! sound 5 star!

The Dali Grands may look nice yes, but they`re awful loudspeakers!! Try knocking on the cabinet and you know how they will sound. They have lots of resonances and colouration in the cabinet, and in my opinion they are way too big compared to their price. The treble is nice and comfortable, but lacks detail and attack, making this speaker useless on modern music. It handles classical fairly well but instruments in the lower midrange sound way to big and "fat". And its not because of the room either, I auditioned them well set up in a well damped, dedicated listening room.In my opinion they sound like something in the 1000$ range, just a bit bigger and louder.

I only write to balance a bit for the previous review.This forum is quite subjective and there is no objective
scale for ranking. Anyway, in my opinion the Dali Grand
are not 1 star speakers.

Firstly, they need a room bigger than 25 square meters.
Secondly, they have drivers with special suspension and they
need much control from the amplifier.
Thirdly, they must be placed at least 1.5 m from rear wall
and 1 m from side walls.

I've been listening to these speakers many times using different
electronics, and is one of my references in the $5000 price
range. They feature modified ScanSpeak Revelator tweeter and
other drivers developed by ScanSpeak, Vifa and Danish Technical
University. Crossovers are very high quality also.
Cabinet is well damped, I think there is no box coloration there.

The only thing I could say against the sound is a somewhat veiled
presentation (not ultimately transparent) and a possible overblown
bass in small rooms.

Otherwise, they have spectacular stereo image, almost holographic,
one can easily locate instruments in space. They also have quite good
scale for classical music, beautiful voices, fine microdynamics,
detail and musicality. Go and listen to vynil records through fine
amplifiers and see how good these can sound. But of course, it's
up to everyone's taste to judge if they're worth their price.

For the price, I think they deserve 5 stars. In absolute terms a 3.5
rating where 5 is accorded to speakers like B&W Nautilus, JMLab Utopia,
Audio Physic Caldera, etc, then 3-4 for Dynaudio Contour 3.x, 3 for Sonus Faber Grand Piano, 2 to ProAc Response 1SC and 0.5-1 to the midfi speakers.

SOUND! finnish, wellbuilt! finnish again!

Needs a big room perhaps. lots of ampfilter power. it´s a referense so there must be components of equal quality in the rest of the system to.

I don´t own this loudspeakers BUT i have listen to them. I am planning to buy them soon, or maybe the dali grand coupe.

the most impressive with these speakers I THINK is the kabinett itself. It´s so stabil and well built, just knock on it and you will know how well it´s designed and so on...

The sound, i have listened to many speakers and i must say that this speaker is worth it´s money, it´s a cheap bargain for what you get, it can be compared by speakers that cost up to 4 times.

AND THAT WHAT I THINK!

It can play wery loud to, and thats not an minus.

I´m definitely thinking of buying one pair. They are SO beautifoul, a loudspeaker in this size is also an furniture, not only an speakerm thats for sure and this speaker sure live up to be an nice furniture. It´s BIG but beautifoul.

Damn, Dali is great stuff.
