Strength:

Outstanding concert like bass with crystal clear reproduction.

Weakness:

Midrange sound level a little louder than my liking, but that is what equalizers are for.

Went to purchase some Cerwin Vega's and when I heard the base from these speakers I was hooked. Listening to a drum solo, it sounded like being on the front row at a concert. I never heard such crisp and clear bass from a $200 speaker. I have had them for about 8 years now. Absolutely great speakers for the money.

Strength:

Very solid hard hitting bass response. Crisp highs. High power handling.

Weakness:

room placement is hard to find for best all around response. Rated @ 8 ohms when actually is 6. Enclosure is not well damped.

The KX12's that I have are the 1st ones that DCM came out with and I am very pleased with them. Even though they are 6 ohms. I would like to run into a deal for another pair of same. Because the Series II "are actually" 8 ohms. This pair is optimized with an "AudioSource 10 band EQ". Best sound is accuired when speakers have a non-stop play of 100hrs.

Strength:

good for a paper weight

Weakness:

sound

These speakers are a total pile of crap. The bass is so loose and boomy, the midrange is muffled and sounds like the speaker is behind a wall. The highs are muffled too. These speakers are not even worthy of being used as firewood. Bose even makes better speakers than these. If you want up front, tight sound, with the greatest accuracy and detail, look no further than B&W 600 series. I have yet to hear a speaker with such sweet mids and crisp clean highs as the DM601s2. Do yourself a favor, don't buy crappy speakers like these. Look elsewhere for a real speaker.

Strength:

Bass, Bass, Bass, and did I mention Bass?

Weakness:

Just about everything else

The Chevy Camaro SS of speakers. If you want room shaking bass, look no further. These are great speakers for college kids who like Rap and Rock. When I bought these speakers 2 years ago I was totally pleased. But now I realize that the music is simply fired at you, there is no imaging, the sound is just there in your face. They are also a very tiring speaker, the sound is so rough it makes your ears ache after a while even at moderate volume. Don't get me wrong, I still like to crank them up, and there is no better value out there for a ground-pounding speaker (great for home theater if you don't have a sub). I am simply warning you not to expect them to do anything that they were not designed to do.

Strength:

Strong bass. Require little power to play loudly.

Weakness:

Poor imaging.

A lot of people are giving these speakers a poor review. I feel that these are very good speakers for the price. They produce a lot of bass which is good for the budjet music lover who can not shell out the extra money for a good subwoofer. If you like rock music or rap, and like it loud, then these speakers might be the ticket. The KX12s don't require a lot of power to produce room filling sound.
If you like Cerwin Vega, and want to upgrade to a larger speaker it would be worth your time to check these out.
But, in all honesty, after a while these tended to sound harsh to my ears and I found myself turning them down. If you want to listen critically to your music, then you should be spending a little more money for a finer product.
I recently upgraded to Paradigm monitor 7's. What a difference! Now I am hearing nuances in the music that the DCM's could not bring to my ears. Still, the KX12's are a decent speaker for not a lot of cash.

Strength:

The bass is there for sure
Get REALLY loud with just 130 watts pushing them

Weakness:

The imaging is not superb
Big enough that I had to make one into the phone table to save space!

If you want terrific bass, look no further. Since they are 4ohm, my Yamaha can push 130watts into them. I can't get the system cranked up halfway without things falling off the wall, and my ears pounding! Imaging wise, you will NOT mistake these for a pair of Paradigms. If you are not in their fairly small sweet spot, they just "throw" out the signal. If you are going to use them as mains in a DD setup, get a good center. The imaging problem is almost nill while I am running my Paradigm CC300. The highs aren't breathtaking, but they are adequate. All in all, I am very happy with these speakers. They have served me well.

Strength:

Got me kicked out of my apartment complex!

Weakness:

Accuracy isn't there, 4ohm design.

For speakers in this price range, you can't go wrong with these. If you're a tighta$$ who needs more clarity, etc...look elsewhere.

I've used mine for 5 years with a Pioneer 100W/channel receiver with no complaints other than from my previous neighbors!!

Bass is STRONG, yet not very precise. I have had to sweep up more than one glass that was "moved" off the table because of them!!

I've blown the crossover in one of them twice. Each time it was replaced free and I had my speaker back within 7 days. To me, this speaks quite well of both Circuit City and DCM's customer service. Why they blew to begin with however.....

I listen to heavy metal and classical. To date, the speakers have not let me down for either. I do have an equalizer which makes a huge difference. Without the eq enabled, they sound like crap. With the eq enabled they sound as good or better than what I paid.

While I won't be using them for my "next" system, they did a great job for my "starter" system.

Strength:

great for movies and music

Weakness:

KX12's are big

I have went though 5 stereo systems in the last 2 years trying to find something I could use for both music and movies.I bought cheap ones and expensive ones with no luck until now.I had bose then polk audio 6200's then went to polk audio 35's with bass cannon. It was great for movies but no match for the DCM's.I have 2 KX12's 2 6's for surround and a DCM6c center channel.I have a sony 845 receiver hooked to a 60'' big screen and it sounds GREAT!!! If you want to waste a bunch of money on a BIG NAME BRAND be my guest, but if you want a stereo that will kick some ass when cranked up and still enjoy a movie with killer surround DCM speakers are the ones to buy..Im going tomarrow and getting the DCM 10 SUB just for 5.1 on the movies cant wait to see how it sounds.

Strength:

huge sound, good revenge speakers(for jerky neighbors)you can out a whole medium pizza on one

Weakness:

sound like they are filled with styrofoam, bad on detail

I got these in an exchange for a pair of infinitys. I hooked them up to my new set-up:NAD 270 amp with a NAD 160 pre and CAL Transit and DAC tubed set-up with audio quest cables. That was my first mistake. It is like getting your Porsche painted at Earl Scheib's. I auditioned the system with a pair of Monitor Gold 20's. Night and day. These sound so blury on the detail that I am bringing them back this week. I will spend the 3K on the Monitors, no system, even my mix of entry level/high end stuff will save these sorry mutants.God bless anyone who thinks they sound even half-way good,it takes all kinds.
