These are some of the great old school speakers I've had and never thought of replacing. These have the great looks and great soothing sound quality in them, they sure have a very broad and well balanced huge sound-stage to them. I think you'll need little help in the bottom end, other than that theses are phenomenal speakers. If your to get this kind of well balanced sound you would be looking about 2K - 3K range. It pumps up enough low end for me and I adore these guys from the late 80's, if you see them in the used market around $200-$400 in decent condition jump on them and you'll never regret them.

I absolutely agree with everything positive that has ever been said about these. I have a set of 600's as my main listening speakers and a smaller set of 350's in my dining room. I am writing this still seething about the E@*#&@)@ing sniper that just outbid me by $2 on ebay for a set of 700's. I was surfing the net to see if I could find another pair (they went for $182) when this page pulled up.

I initially bought them on reccommendation from a friend in the stereo dept. of circuit city and never looked back. I have had them about 15-20 years and just as good today as the day I took them out of the cartons. I originally bought them because I was listening to a lot of folk, jazz similar music at the time and I couldn't believe the reproduction of sound and especially the imaging. I could sit in front of these speakers and virtually visualize where every instrument was placed just by listening. It was like going to the concert. When I heard (don't laugh) Roy Orbison's Mystery Girl album on them I swore to never buy anything else again. I have a big bucks 70 in hd tv and bigger bucks NHT surround system that freaks me out when I watch movies but when I really want to LISTEN to music, I flip the selector switch to my Time Frames.

Here is the thing I just don't get. Nothing DCM has put out since has come close in my opinion Why the F*** have they just not reproduced these. Not the crap they are selling as new style deconstructed time frames but the real deal? I know there would have to be a market for them. Maybe just upgrade them to black lacquer for those of us who have sort of grown up (but that might alter the sound and it wouldn't be worth it.)

DCM Time Frame TF-600 have been excellent speakers for the last 15 years I paid $600.00 for the pair back then and always wanted another pair for my b channel on my stereo. About 5 years ago I happen to be in a good will store and I couldn't believe it they had a pair the same color as my other pair and in excellent condition for $50.00 plus they came with a center channel and 2 rear channel DCM speakers. I had a pair of DCM KX 2-12 SERIES loud speakers paid $700.00 for the pair new about 12 years ago. had them for about a year then sold them wanting another pair of the DCM TIME FRAME TF-600 because the sound is crisp and clear. They also have a stylish design. highly recommended.

Strength:

Detail - Clarity - Balance
Music comes thru as it was intended to.

Weakness:

None

Just wanted to add my sentiments on these speakers. No other way to say it than WOW!!!
Never heard of these before reading the reviews here and took the chance on getting them.
As one reviewer put it, pure ear candy. I demoed some psb and paradigm's and they were very nice but these just kill them. By far the best investment I've ever made in stereo eqp. and if you can find a pair in good shape, get them.
They are big and could be tipped over so as someone else said, bad if you have small children. Don't have a cat so not dealing with the scratching post issue. If you have the space and want speakers that compare to others that cost 3 or 4 times as much these are it. I mainly listen to jazz with some rock and classical throw in. Playing the new Wallace Roney jazz cd as I write this and I felle like I'm in a jazz club sipping on a Hennessy while Wallace and the band are playing.

Strength:

Well made in USA, extreme quality at a minuscule price. Easier to carry upstairs than a bookshelf speaker. You can just carry them like a surfboard, close to the body, under the arm, and avoid that strained lower back. THEY SOUND AWESOME.

Weakness:

They are large, tall and wobbly. Would not advise around infants and toddlers as they could tip over and injury. Vulnerable in an earth quake. Cats think they are a large scratching post and tend to use them to "mark their territory". Disciplining the cat with a 12 gauge is not going to help ones marriage.

Excellent match up to my TF-700 pair. The 700s have moret two times the bass of the 15" woofer Sansui's they replaced. They out perform my 901's with better highs. Both the 600's and 700's out perform ALL the Speakers I listened to in the Bose store. Think about this, I have a $2000 1988 price speaker system that would cost you in todays audiophile outlet many thousands more. I paid a total of $225 for all four speakers. This was the best purchase I have ever made.
The listening experience. EVERTHING I have listened to has sounded so much better with greater detail and clarity. With a real high quality amp,and well placed they sound like a speaker thats more like 8 feet square. I can adjust the volume up and down without readjusting the bass and treble. I do have a self powered 10" sub woofer that helps below 100Hz but isn't really necessary.
The "ick factor" Someone's cat had sprayed the 600's and was why they were being sold cheap. Took less than an hour using the wifes carpet/ upholstery cleaning hoover to clean both socks and they now look almost new. The 700's had a broken speaker connect and were left off at the computer recycling store and were purchased for $10 by my son. They sat in my garage for 4 months unused until I hooked them up one day.and they just blew my new Bose and Sansui system away. I gladly gave him a hundred for them . LOVE THESE SPEAKERS!!! Can't imagine what the TF 1000 and 2000 sound like, but I am looking.

Strength:

great style (they still look veryy modern)
awsome impressive sound
powerful clear sound

Weakness:

It would have been nice if they were biamp capable

the imaging on these speakers is one of the best, I have had these speakers since they were new in 1990 or so. I listen to all kinds of music especially rock the bass is tight and unexaggerated I have cranked them up like theres no tomarrow and am glad for the overload protection. I have also used them as the mains in my home theater system they sounded awsome at times I would run just the front 2 and it would still sound like the sourround was on. They are really good at impressing family and friends when they come over to watch a movie. I also like the sleek styling they have they compliment my flat panel TV very nice some people think they are brand new and they have never seen anything like them before.

Customer Service

I never needed to use their customer service the speakers have performed flawlessly since I bought them

Strength:

Clean, clear mids and highs with enough bass to make things right.

Weakness:

Hard to keep clean.

I got these as an upgrade 14 years ago. I've never looked back. In searching for speakers to create a 7.1 system, all the experts have told me to keep these as the front mains and just buy a 5.1 set to finish the system. Beautiful sound, particularly good at emphasizing vocals (I listen to a lot of YES, etc.).

if you can find a pair, get them.

Strength:

Shallow profile, unequaled sonic capabilities for their size and price, long term reliability.

Weakness:

Needs regular vacuum cleaning allover, cloth vulnarable for damage.

According to my ears and taste this model was the winner after extensive search and listening tests. Surprisingly because I expected the much more expensive models to sound better. Throughout the years they performed superbly in the most wide musical diversity at both high and low volume levels. Unequalized they are astonishingly capable of a wide and flat frequency range. Now I'm using two pairs in a 23' x 20' x 10' room, the musical spot has become even larger than it already was with one set of the DCMs only. When compared to their shallow profile low frequency capabilities are amazing, because of the wooden floor with 2' space of air beneath it (not uncommon in ancient homes) I even had to empirically putting them at the optimal location to prevent a pronouncing bass. The introduction of HT made me assume that I would have to upgrade, however the DCMs three dimensional staging is so spectacular that until now I did not encounter anything truly convincing except when moving up to an audiophile price level, so far this is the best purchase I've ever made.

Strength:

clarity, nuanced sound

Weakness:

fabric cover that the cats use for scratching purposes...

I like these speakers very much. They are clear and crisp and deliver more than adequate bass for me, at any rate. Now that I've found a brochure for them that told me to place them so the 'dcm' labels are TOWARDS each other, they will sound even better. I'm about to try them with HT, so we'll see how they sound. Here's the url for the brochure if you want it: http://www.dcmspeakers.com/archive/TF600.pdf Enjoy!
