They convinced its wife that was too great and needed ugh compact sytem of Bose…. They are constructed as the tanks in 120 pounds by each…. . I can literally balance currencies of ten cents in these loudspeakers when they are in the complete force. The overflows, mids, under are all wonderful. This one is a loudspeaker that demands a certain energy nevertheless…. even in 91db… as soon as they sound better with my amperes of solid state of high power that do with 35 a based ampere of the tube of watt EL34. This one is a loudspeaker that I will keep ..... and as they age, I will replace the ring…. they' re that good. Forces: solid like hell, great glances, overflows, mids, low points…. and they' re Deftech…. they are so very modest…. not produced more…. and the new matter of Deftecn is excrement. its the best speaker i have ever heard ,Some says its boomy at music but its not which speaker can give the bass like that,Definitive is the best bp 2000tl better than 10000 usd speakers

will play lound and clear with a good amp.overall great sound for the money.great build quality.

i am new to this as it is my first post.i know these are older speakers now.had them 3 or 4 years.def tech does tend to over rate things at times.yes they are efficient since the powered sub,but if you want to get the most out of them you do need to give them a good amount of power.200 wtts each is good.ifed them 500 each and was blown away.they took it and really came to life with out sounding harsh or stressed.i like the midrange.the top end could be a tad livelier.if you are an ultra bass freak that needs 20 hertz and under at big spls these imo still could use a stand alone sub.i use one.they are easy to listen to for long periods and overall sound pretty darn good for the price.yes,big soundstage,imaging and accurate.they are nice looking and for the price i really have no complaints.

I only have one of these. I bought it at a swap meet cheap and decided to give it a twirl. I found out later you have to plug it in for the big one to go, so i octapussed a jumper from my neighbor's power wire and hooked her through to this hitachi all-in-one i tricked out (the model with the clock radio built in--the nice one). I have six other speakers hooked to it so I know the hitachi probably does not have the muscle to blow the 2000tl, but the sparks freaked me out at first. I quad wired it with heavy-guage bailing wire so that it fires on all cylinders and stoked the tape deck. I think this speaker made the deck eat the tape at first, but i sorted it out and played .38 special at top crank.

The big one was thumping and stuff, but it was producing real low sounds only so i punched a couple of pencil holes through the speaker part and it sounded way more sonorous after that. If you pop the real little one like a zit it will squeek weird but is more sing-songy in the long run. I decked the little ones with Optimus revamps i salvaged from this dude that was tossing them, and, though they do not fit too good, i find they open the sound a lot!

Even though I only have one and the back part is missing some stuff, I say you should get this one! It bangs way harder than some other guy's and with a few mods will even take out a big boy's supersystem!

I had my wife macrame a speaker sling for this unit and have it suspended about 6 feet above the floor right now but look out if you hit your head on it! This ape is solid. It bent a couple of bike hooks I was using to suspend it, and yet the holes from the celing tearing loose in a trio of false taps made easy access to lash it to a joist.

I say "get one."

NONE AT ALL

This is my second review on these "Amazing" speakers.I purchased these speakers last year and all I can say is that I will not replace them with any other speaker regardless how well or better they may "claim" to be or sound. I have auditioned so many well known main speakers from Legacy Audio(Focus 2020),Martin Logan,Revel,Thiel,Paradigm,Coincident,Canton,Aerial Acoustics and B&W, some of them costing twice or triple what the BP2000tl cost in so called "high end " systems and thruthfully none of them has sound with the transparency,realism,detail as the BP2000TL. These speakers are opened giving you such a soundstage with the highs being clear and the bass tigh not boomy as some other speakers.I will like to remind some people that in order to achieve these kind of sound you must have these speakers connected in full range the way they are meant to be so you can experience what these speakers were meant to do.They are so good that even though they are discontinued or better said "replaced" with the new Definitive BP7001SC I will not replace them with them because the new Definitive(although very good) they tend to sound more "DIGITAL" than the BP2000TL which has a real true "ANALOG" sound to them specially with music.I have to say that with the BP2000TL's as main,the CLR3000 as center and 4 BPVX as rears I have put together the best 7.1 Channel System money can buy not only for movies but extremely outstanding for music.I have been using my Pioneer Elite VSX49TX(135 watts per channel) to drive these speakers but soon I will be feeding these beasts what they want "'POWER" by purchasing a new Parasound Halo A21 (250 watts per channel X 2 class A A/B amp)just for them and for the rest of my surround Parasound Halo A51(250 watts per channel X 5).Its a shame that they have been discontinued but if you can get a hold at a pair do yourselves a favor and get them, you will not be disappointed.

Sound quality, imaging, small floor space used, gorgeous look (not quite as good as some fine wood speakers but still good), and great bass.

These speakers are absolutely awesome. Great at both HT and 2 ch stereo. I just can't believe how awesome the imaging and soundstage are on them, and I'm only running them with a Denon avr-3300. I've listened to many high end speakers (sonus faber, mcintosh, kef, vienna acoustics, paradigm, magnepan, martin logan, and even wilson audio watt puppys). For the money the Defs blow the others away. Maybe it's my ears but I think that's cuz I only listen to rock and roll, and I'm very much into highs and lows in music. Nothing bugs me more than having the midrange too high, and it really hurts my ears. I really think too many high end speakers are too geared toward jazz and orchestral music, and that is why I dislike them so much. These def techs were a step up from Klipsh so they are a bit more laid back than them, but they still give such a great soundstage and enough bass and boom to shake the house. I'd buy them again in a heartbeat. I'm currently auditioning amplifiers and have tried a mcintosh and rotel, and will also be considering some other brands such as Krell, Bryston, Anthem, and Bel Canto. Any amp recommendations would be appreciated. As a matter of fact i liked my 2000s so much that I bought 2006's for my bedroom and it is still just phenomenal sound from my old Yamaha receiver. For the price you just can't go wrong. BTW, my absolute favorite tune to play on them is Where the Streets Have No Name from the Rattle and Hum DVD. WOW, it blows me and everyone I've ever had listen to it away. Can't wait to add a little more power in the future, but am also worried about doing hearing damage if I do. It's that loud. I really don't think I could do much better than these speakers no matter what I spend. I've been auditioning amps for 6 months and i just haven't heard a speaker that perks me up the way these do. If I wanted to, I could go out and buy a $15,000 system tomorrow and not look back. The bottom line is I just know it's not gonna sound that much better than what I have and the law of diminishing returns will make that system not worth it.

Placement critical, takes time!!! These have been discontinued...Why?

First off, my "audiophile" choice vs. enthusiast is based solely upon my finickyness of music and movie media. Secondly,this is my opinion... Purchased these as demos from Audio warehouse. Had some trouble with busted speakers, and a fried amp; but Chet at Def Tech was super helpful in getting replacement parts, and before it was all said and done, I ended up with new speakers in "demo" cabinets. Excellent customer service at Def Tech. Yes, these are heavy, and placement is by all means critical. I have mine spiked with the subs firing outward, bi-wired, and with separate lfe in as reccommended in the manual. Toed in about 40 degrees. They are my main speakers of an entire Def Tech home theater setup(8 channel). I feel there are no better speakers for creating the dynamic impact and crisp realism of any movie soundtrack, period. Maybe some Nautilus Reference series, but I would not hear 122,000.00 dollars worth of difference. The highs are crisp, and NEVER harsh, the mids are right where they should be, and the bass can be adjusted to be perfectly blended, foundation rattling, and/or all points in between. Even in two channel stereo mode listening to cds, or 2-channel sacd, these speakers create a very enveloping, detailed, and most importantly realistic soundstage. To sum up Def Tech speakers... I would rather watch a movie, or listen to music at home, than go to a movie theater....these are that awesome! P.S. They sound better and better as they "break in."

Full range sound

I shoped around for speakers for along time before going with the BP2000TL. People who say they don't like them for music must have never gone to a good live concert. These speakers sound great for home theater and music.

Dynamic, huge, full range sound. Clear highs and mids, with tight, powerful bass.

Can't find any yet

I can't stop listening to these speakers. Music, home theater, everything sounds amazing! I guess maybe I'm not a true audiophile. I read countless reviews, auditioned tons of speakers (Magnepan, Monitor, B&W, Martin Logan, M&K, Klipsh, JBL, Vandersteen, KEF, Infinity among others) and I couldn't find any speakers that really moved me like these Def Tech 2000TLs. I think my experience demonstrates why speakers are so subjective and people have such different opinions. Speakers that are praised as superb in imaging and detail, like the Maggies, just didn't do it for me. They were very detailed, but the definitives just sound so big (I think that's what people mean by soundstage, but I'm not an audiophile) and so dynamic, yet so clear and accurate with all different kinds of music. I really don't think that you can judge a speaker by reviews alone. These speakers excel at home theater, and I love them for 2 channel music as well. I've never heard my music sound so good. I have a full Def Tech surround system (CLR2002, BPX rears) built around the 2000TL and couldn't be happier with the purchase. If you like music to sound rich, big, and dynamic, with enough detail to blow me away (maybe hardcore audiophiles think it doesn't have enough, but it sure sounds like great detail to me), then you should definitely listen to these speakers. Also, at least bi-wiring these speakers (with a line from the pre-amp into either the LFE or Full Range bass input on the speaker) is a must. Bass is tight and not boomy at all, but definitely powerful. They are discontinuing this model with the new flagships coming in, so now is a great time to get a great deal on these if stores have any left. Mine were just over half price. That's an absolute steal for an amazing HT setup that sounds fantastic with music as well.
