They made such an impression when I first heard them, I bought them. But after listening to them for awhile, I found my ears ringing. And after owning these, i got frequent headaches. I cannot prove or disprove that these speakers gave me headaches. All I know is that when I got rid of them I didn't get them anymore. I bought Vandersteen 1C to replace these(very easy and relaxing sound). If you appreciate huge soundstage with strong bass, check out Von Schweikert VR3 instead. |

Sound great with my Bryston equipment. Very bright, but like it that way. |

Spent many months auditioning other speakers; these were by far the best for the money, and sound great hooked up to my Parasound rig--Pre and Power, plus CDP 1000 digital source. Check them out in YOUR living room though, to make sure that you like them yourself. Very well-spent $1700.00. |

Can speakers really sound this good? I have for months auditioned speakers in the $1.5k to $2.5k range, and these sounded the best to my ears. I liked some of the B+W products, as well as some Epos, but I thought the Definitives had an edge over Totems and the Thiels that I have heard. I am just getting into hifi, right now I run my 2002's with Harman/Kardon receiver, but am in the market for Preamp and Amp. BTW, all my friends think I have the best sounding speakers in the world. Five rocking speakers. |

Let's all keep in mind that music reproduction and speaker preference are subjective items--we all have an opinion, whether good or bad. The key is to successfully research and audition a product that satisfactorily and capably reproduces the music style that one listens to most often. I have had Definitive Technology products in my home for years, 2002's for about four months, and have been well rewarded with rich, vibrant sound. I have not had any problems, and certainly have never heard ringing or gotten a headache from listening to these wonderful speakers. But, some others might have, and their opinion is as much a part of conscientiously objective research about a product to warrant taking them into consideration. As always, there is nothing that will replace the ultimate test of whether or not one enjoys these particular speakers--to hear them, repeatedly. I love mine, you should check them out, but keep in mind that others may have had problems, and perhaps address these problems with a knowledgeable salesperson. I would recommend Def. Tech. products to anybody who asked. |

To correct a number of posts, these speakers are Bipolar, not dipolar. I think that mine sound fine, with just HK stuff and no real fancy speaker cable or anything. I only use a JVC CD player...a real no frills system. Mine get no "echo" or whatever, and I don't get headaches listening to them, but I don't listen to music at very loud levels: mostly Holly Cole, Geri Allen, and other "lounge jazz" kept at a level where you can still talk comfortably. I think this is an awesome product for a bargain price compared to the tripe that Best Buy and Circuit City offer. |

To all of you who panned these speakers, especially that dumb @*#@!** who listened to a "$50,000 system with a 'Krell amp',ooh Krell it is too awesome for my own ears,I wish I knew the name of another high end company to drop so I look like I know what I'm talking about" get a different life!!! Go listen to your precious Bose Lifestyle systems!!! Please don't try to enlighten us with your winsome words of wisdom! Room placement is critical!!! Setup is critical!!! For any HiFi speaker!!! These speakers, when properly, yes , properly set up will rock; or they will be sublime, or delicate, or sound like anything you play through them. I would not call them a good value for the money as they are in a a tough price point. However, they do a lot of things right and very few things wrong, and they are versatile in that you can listen to them for both home theater and two-channel stereo and not feel like you're missing anything.Crisp, detailed, smooth and powerful, they are a great buy for anyone who needs to combine stereo listening with home theater. |

I have to agree with Ken and Clayton. I purchased a set of BP2002C2002 and BPX rears by Definitive Tech and the sound is absolutely stunning. |
