For my part, I disagree 100% with the reviewer below. While I do not meen to put down the excellent Energy speakers, I feel that the BP-2002's are very good for both home theatre and music (although admitedly they are better for HT IMO). Placement and break-in are especially important to getting the most out of the DTs -- but if you spend the effort, and don't boost the bass level on the powered sub section too much, these speakers can really kick butt! As far as I am concerned, the BP-2002's are a superb value, and anyone auditioning speakers in their price range should DEFINATELY place them at the top of their audition list. Easily a five star pair of speakers for both performance and value!

When I first heard these pseaker, I was blown away... I had never heard something so awesome... until I heard the Engery Audissy Series Bipolar speaker...
In compairson the BP2002 are muddy and unclear, the Audissy's produce a much nicer, clearer musical sound. Definitive Tech bipolar speakers are horrible for music, extremely unclean sound with no precision! I will say due to the size they are pretty good for shootem' up movies... but they lack the refinment and detail of a "high-end" speaker.

Well the Definitive BP2002 are a Great deal!It seems as if people are not understanding what these speakers where made for,
"Home Theater".
In my years of being in the same room with best speakers ever made, I have found that the BP2002 where right in the ball park for Home Theater, as a matter of fact after we did some tweeking of the sub, and the right placement, they did the job of reproducing Home Theater to the BEST that I have ever been able to enjoy. when matched with the DC-1 Lexicon, then their was the true stereo hiding.
I could name many others that do sound better than the BP2002 in stereo, but only with a good sub will the others even come close to true stereo.

But that is getting from what the BP2002 where made for in the start.
Remember Home Theater?
Definitive Technology, . . . Thank you

Returning to this review page, after putting my own two cents in months ago, to see what has been said, I have noticed a trend. People with positive things to say about these speakers tend to stick to the subject at hand, which is reviewing the speakers. On the flip side, people with negative comments on the BP2002's also include put downs and personal attacks on people who might favor or even own a pair of 2002's. Do they feel threatened? Insecure?, perhaps both! that they should lash out at anyone disagreeing with there negative comments on this product. How sad and I think pathetic.
As a follow up, I have owned these for over a year now and still think they are a great value and have very good overall sound quality.

The twin 125W stereo base (from the left/right channel) on these units produce crisp fast pounding base response, but it it gets to intense then you can tone it down. They get really bright and INTENSE if played LOUD. But if you want LOUD to play your rap music then goto electronic outlet to buy your speakers. I have a pair for BP2004 for the rear channels and they are awesome. 5 STARS for Definitive Tech. BP2002

I must say that I have owned many speakers in the past -- Polk, Klipsch, even(it hurts to admit this) Bose, but the 2002's caught my ears and have held
them now for two months. I think that they sound as good as anything that I have heard, regardless of price. They sound great and they don't take up a lot of space. Recommended for high audio aspirations without the gargantuan pricetag -- and they don't need a huge amp to sound good -- they are really sensitive. If you are considering Polk, or the lower level Infinity products, then give these a shot -- you won't be disappointed.

I'd like to give my opinion on both the BP2002s and BP2004s. But first, I must admit I am shocked at the immaturity of some of the reviewers. We all must remember that speaker preference is subjective. Hearing is not the same for everyone. In fact, studies have been done which reveal that all of us hear different frequencies at different levels and even though our ears have the same "mechanical design" several factors determine what each of us considers pleasing to hear. With that said, it is incredibly unfair and rude to put another person down for hearing differently than you do! It's like yelling at someone because they are short or tall or have black hair...you get the point. I don't mind at all if someone disagrees with my opinion on sound or any other issue for that matter. If you have an opinion about a product please let us know. But take it a step further and tell us why you think so and what you think we should listen for when going out to audio stores. Leave the back stabbing attitude at home and give us useful information. Thank you for letting me get that off my chest! Whew! Now for my OPINION (that's all it is, just MY OPINION), I love the sound of the BP2002s and the BP2004s. The BP2004s have a 10" sub, but are nearly identical to the BP2002s and retail for $750 ea. I enjoyed the spaciousness, detail and imaging of these speakers and find them ergonomically pleasing as well. I haven't purchased them yet and will go back and take another listen after reading some of the reviews, but after hearing several speakers my bet at this time is still on the BP2004s.

Dear Lord!! I was blown away by Def's 2002's. I have been shopping around for speakers for a few weeks and have listened to Polk, Klipsch, DCM, Infinity...etc. The 2002's beat them all hands down. The voice's sound like they are in the same room with you and the little towers seem to disappear. And the bass!!! WOW, this christmas is going to be great when I bring home a pair of 2002's and pop in some smooth jazz.
Good Listening,
WJ

Joe, you are right about Bob. These are remarkable speakers, I have owned them for about a year now and I am still amazed at the sound they put out. I wont be too hard on Bob though because the first rule of the audiophile society is to never like any product that advertises in Stereo Review. But it seems that Bob has magical powers, he can tell how a speaker sounds simply by looking at an ad. I am not that gifted, I had to go to a dealer and listen to them. By the way Bob, could you give me 6 numbers for Saturdays Lotto drawing?
