I was in the process of building my HT so I decided to look for speakers. The BP2000's set up with the C/L/R 200o and the Bpx Surrounds running on the Yamaha DSP A-1 gave me a thrill. I listened to the Begining scene of Armeggedonand was amazed at the bass response. I then checked to see how they sounded with music. while playing "The Neville Bros. live on planet Earth" I listened as the concert motion shifted and the 2000's gladly went along. These speakers really did the trick for me. I had a chance to listen to the 3000's in the same way and I couldn't justify teh extra money cause the 2000's are plenty good enough for HT and Music. Needless to say they were the speakers I chose.

WOW, now this is a speaker! I just went and heard a pair at a local HiFi shop and I was amazed. They handle everything you could send them in the bass end without a problem. The bass is very musical and seem to respond well down to <20 Hz. But it's easy to be impressed by lots of bass, so I had them turn off the powered subs and just listened to the midranges and tweeters. I was still impressed. It's a little laid back, not forward or harsh, which I like. Very clear sounding. The only thing I noticed was it has limited vertical dispersion. The sound changed when I stood up, less treble, more midrange. Highly recommended, especially if you like BiPoles. No Mirage Bi-Pole came close.

I just purchased the entire Def-Tech set including the BP2000, CLR and BPX after being in the market for a great sounding speaker system for a while. My needs were about 60/40 Movies/Music and these were the speakers which best fit my need. I know there are a lot of speakers out there which could probably outperform the BP's in music or HT, however these Def-techs do a great job, but I mean a really great job in both arenas and at a more down to earth price. They even sound great with a low power, old receiver I have. I truly recommend them!!!!!!

It was a privledge to sample these speakers at the local audio shop here last month. I would own these myself if it were not for certain material realities...:-(

They are great speakers for home theater, mainly because HT ain't no hifi and the loud and less refined bass, bipolar sound of the BP2000 shines. They are below average in music compared to other magnificent 3k speakers like the Von Schweikert VR4, Martin Logan SL3, Infinity Composition Preludes etc. Image like crap, unrefined bass etc.

I have auditioned the BP2000 set with the matching center and BPX surrounds extensively. I've done side-by-side comparisons with several similar speakers. In my opinion, they are the best home theater speakers for the price on the market. Also, even for music, they had more dynamic range than any other home theater package I auditioned.

I went from 20 yr old Magnapans to these. I didn't research or compare much. At first, I was disappointed with the sound that seemed overly bright and the harshness of the sound. I liked the bass because it reminded me of my old corner horns from my youth.

The sound improved when I rearranged them in the room by spreading them apart more. The sound improved again when I got a Rega CD player (I researched that one!). Last month my Carver integrated amp died. I bought a 6 year old Carey tube pre-amp and brought out of the closet(temporarily) my old Nikko amp from my corner horn days. Wow! That tube pre-amp really helped smooth out the sound and improve the midrange.

Now the sound of a symphony still isn't as smooth as those old directional and bassless Magnapans, but overall I'm pretty happy with the sound for my budget. The imaging is great. Vocals sound and jazz sound great. And, hey! Now I've got that old bass that I've missed ever since I sold the corner horns. Its a little boomy but fine for me at this point.

I usually work more with Pro-Audio but I am in no way an audiophile or any sort of expert. I'm probably stretching calling myself an enthusiast, BUT, I have heard of some of the different companies and thier products. I went to Ovation yesterday in Indy and listend to a lot of different speakers. I can't say which one has better frequencies or any of that crap. What I can say is I know what I like, and after listening to the BP2000's compared to everything else. I fell in love. I played some resounding bassy songs like rap. Then moved on with some midrange guitar and higher female voices. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Ofcourse aas everyone else put on here, the home theater was unbelievable. With the CLR 2000 and the BPX's I watched the opening scene of Zorro and could have sworn I heard someone yelling right next to me one second and 20 feet away the next. Over all, in my price range, these were the best speakers I heard.

The BP2000's are an addition to my system that I do not regret. Moving from a more musical setup (B&W Matrix 805's and a Velodyne 12" Servo) to these badboys for a more balanced setup between music and home theater, I wanted to preserve some musical integrity while increasing the slam of HT. I have been enamoured with the BP2000's ability to integrate the powered subwoofer with the tweeters and woofers. Creating synergy between the 805's and velodyne sub was very difficult in my apartment. Not a problem with the BP2000's. Musically they are absolutely stunning with a breathtaking soundstage and excellent midrange quality. Imaging is obviously impaired by the bi-polar design (not even close to the 805's) but to me the overall presentation is better now than I achieved ever before with B&W's. HT is absolutely awesome. The subs shake the frames on the walls and move my couch around on the floor. Dialogue is crystal clear with my CLR2000 which also integrates well with the BP2000's. I am very happy with my purchase although at times I still miss the monitor quality of the 805's in imaging. Overall, still a five in my opinion.

I have auditioned both, Paradigm and BP 2000. Paradigm is far better for music than BP. Home theater the BP has an advantage with it's subs as pointed out. For music, the Pardigm is far superior. For music, the BP 2000 is comparable to BOSE, (ie a piece of crap). Take your $3000 and buy a pair of Martin Logan SL-3's.
