High quality and very crispy. Easily handled the Denon at full volume with absolute clarity. My ht is ProCinema 100 Front Procenter C2 (no compromise) Procinema 80 rear Pro 100 sub on a denon 1802. If any one is setting up a ht, I advise you to check out the 200s before the buy. If you have the money just go for the 200s. The shop i bought from didnt have that in stock. I am making this comment just by experiencing the killer c2 and by comparing the difference between procenter 100 and c2. I am sure 200s can squeeze more out of the amp than the 100s.

Great speakers. They are a SOLID step above the 80''s (which I use as my rear speakers now). They sound great. Smooth highs, rich mids and decent lows. I have them running with an AR 12 sub and together they sound wonderful. Unlike others I think the mounting bracket is designed well for wall mounting with the only drawback being they are a little big.

Very nice speaker, I am using them as a rear speaker in my Dobly Digital/DTS systme. The produce a very good sound and an awsome surround speaker. I have had a pair of pro cinima 200''s for about 3 yrs. I have owned these speakers for about two years and have been very happy. I have it matched with the Denon AVR 3200. The sound is very good considering the price, I also got another pro sub 100 to add bass and it definitely helps.I would recoomend this system to anyone who wants 5.1 for under $2k.

As everyone else agrees, these are simply incredible speakers. I have a ProCinema speaker setup with ProMonitor 100s in the front and 80s in the rear (plus 100TL sub and ProCenter 100), powered by Pioneer VSX-26TX receiver. Incredibly realistic and generally unbelievably good sound. After testing the ProMon 100 and 80 side-by-side with no subwoofer support, my clear impression is that there is a very slight added warmth and fullness to the ProMon 100s, particularly in the range of male vocals (I conducted a fairly informal test with Costello's "Painted From Memory" CD and James Taylor's Beacon Theatre DVD. However, once the sub is added and is adjusted to kick in around 95Hz or so, I no longer detected any difference between the sound of the two ProMons. Great, great speakers, even at near list (can't get much lower than that in Dallas).

I feel like I've just ditched my old 1974 Ford Maverick (first car I owned back in 1985) for a brand new Porsche 911 (will probably never have one now that I have kids). The great part is that I didn't have to shell out the money you'd expect to pay for such high quality.

I am far from an audiophile. In fact, I knew virtually nothing about speakers, subs, amps, dvds, cables, etc until about 8 weeks ago when I decided to make some serious upgrades to our main system. I knew I wanted a nice system but I didn't want to empty the entire vault to get it. I started the journey about 8 weeks ago by visiting several different Home Theater specialty stores and getting their thoughts on speakers, subs, dvds, amps, cds, cables, etc. I was looking for commonality in what they were saying so I could start to form some opinions of my own.

The hard thing was that each place seemed to really target one or two brands as their 'anchor' brands and everything else was secondary. I took what they said then went to this website to embark on several weeknights of reading. I found this to be a much better source for REAL ADVICE from people who really seemed to be unbiased and knew what they were talking about.

I ended up with the following A/V system:
TV: Hitachi 43" 43FDX01B ($1999)
Amp: Denon AVR2801 ($599)
DVD: Harmon Kardon DVD-5 ($499)
CD: Sony CDP CX-400 ($259)
Fronts: Def Tech Pro Monitor 100s (Package for $1250)
Rears: Def Tech Pro Monitor 100s
Sub: Def Tech Pro Sub 100 TL
Center: Def Tech Pro Center 100
Audio Cables: Monster Digital Optical from DVD and CD
Video Cables: Monster S-Video (haven't decided if Component is worth the extra money yet)

The only piece that I'm not 100% happy with is the DVD player as it has errored out a couple times (ie it will say it's trying to read a DVD but it keeps reading and eventually says is was unable to play). The 90% of the time that it works it works awesome. Picture and Sound are unbelievably crisp. Thinking about trading in for an Onkyo Integra DPC-6 due to the better warranty and supposedly equivalent quality.

Back to the rest of the system. My big problem was that I wanted to put this system in our main living area. We have a new house and like most new houses our ceilings are freakin' 18 feet tall. Not ideal for acoustics to say the least. To keep my wife happy, I agreed that the speakers would be white, wall mounted satellites so they'd be out of the way from kids and disappear into the wall to some degree. A fair compromise, but satellite speakers don't typically have the umph that I was thinking we needed to fill this entire area effectively for both music and surround sound.

I didn't do tons of personal tests like some of the guys on this site did. I basically benefitted from all the comparison tests that others have done before me and made my decisions according to their opinions and a few sound tests at the store.

The final verdict on the speakers...... The Def Techs are AWESOME!!! The only other set that I seriously considered were the Bose Acoustimas, but after listening to both at The Home Theater Store in Arlington, TX.... I came to the conclusion that the Def Techs all the way around created a quality depth for lows, mids and highs that no other set of satellites could touch. If I didn't know, I'd swear the sound was coming out of tower speakers. Now, granted these are not small satellite speakers. They're more the size of bookshelf speakers but the white boxes make them disappear into the wall, so the wife is still OK with them. I think the Direct Radiating sound out of the speakers helps 'aim' the sound down to avoid any major echoing or reverberating.


Add on to the Fronts and Rears with the Pro Sub 100 which blew any other$400 - $700 sub out of the water that I could find through research or listening tests. The combination is amazing. Bottom line... I could not be happier with the Def Tech Pro 100 series. I was trying to stay around $1000 for all 6 speakers. Ended up stretching it to $1250 but think it was well worth it.

Probably doesn't hurt that I'm powering everything with a new Denon AVR 2801. I guess it's tough to pinpoint which pieces are playing the biggest role in the final result, but I have to believe the speakers are probably playing the biggest and most critical role in the entire system.

Like I said before, I am more of a research fanatic who wanted to get the best possible system I could find without spending completely crazy money. I didn't want to just pop into the first store and let someone sell me a bag of goodies without making sure I was getting the best for the money. All the way around, that's exactly what I think I got. If you disagree, don't tell me.

What can I say? These are amazing speakers for there size. I have listened to many full range speakers that cost two to three times as much as these little beauties and they didn't sound as good.

I have had these little speakers for a couple of years now and they still amaze me. Earlier this year I upgraded my speakers to a couple of pairs of the NHT 2.5i's. I was going to sell the Pro 100's, but when a friend of mine came to look, I wasn't able to part with them. I ran a demo for him, which I admit I hadn't thought of myself, and suddenly they took on a whole new level of performace I hadn't expected. I set them up as 'B' speakers with the 2.5i's so he could here the difference and, lo and behold to my total surprise, they blended absolutely seamlessly with the 2.5i's.

I then set them up on their own (speaker setting LARGE) with just the sub (M&K MX700 set at 50Hz) and my friend was absolutely blown away. He'd just finished listening to another friends system (Paradigm 15in sub and Reference Series 100's) and he reckoned it sounded cleaner and clearer and there wasn't that annoying muddy boomy sound either.

I can't recommend these little speakers more highly, I know I keep harping on this, but they are absolutely amazing for there size. When they are hooked up to the right gear, they'll make you think twice before going out and buying something else to replace them.

As I always say, do yourself a favour and go and have a listen to them, you won't be disappointed.

Got the pro-100's for L-C-R with the Pro-100sub using the Pro-80's for the rear .Had to save some money some where being retired firefighter. Driving them with a Sony StrDa333ES receiver .No problem with power! Sound is unreal. Using a Sony DVD player with a Sony 32 Tv next going for a larger tv. The stands could be better .

Had the Definitive Technology Pro Cinema 100 System for a month now, and I have no regrets at all. I spent several months listening to many different home theater speaker set ups in stores in the DC area, LA, Dallas, etc, as I travel trying to listen to all the different types of small sat set-up with a variety of different receivers (was also looking for a A/V receiver also). The requirements were to be small enough to please the wife, around $1000, and work well for both movies and music. I only visited large chains a couple of times and it was obvious the best systems were at real audio shops. The different systems we listened to were Mirage AVS, Energy Take 5, Boston Acoustics Micro 90s, NHT take zero/one, Jamo, Polk, and a few others a forget.
Even thought the Pro Cinema 100 was a little larger than the rest and a little more in cost, the sound was just too good. It is a full range sound which is much better for music, and the packaging looks really good... not just a box. None of the 3.5" midranges in any of the other systems could match the range and sound of the 5.25" midrange in the Pro Cinema 100 system. For movies any of the other systems were very good, but if you use the system for music also, I would highly recommend the Pro Cinema 100. The Pro Sub 100 is outstanding with good range and ability to make you really feel the low end especially in movies.

So far, I've only bought the Pro Monitor 100 with the Sub (waiting for the satellite surrounds when I add a Surround Receiver). Still have an old Nakamichi receiver at the front. I had to replace a pair of Mirage 890is, due to a 9 month old little girl who insisted on pushing those towers over. I loved the Mirages, but the Definitives are a satisfactory replacement. The bass is awesome, very crisp, but one large complaint- at low listening levels, the subwoofer sometimes won't power on- it's supposed to sense the signal and power on automatically. It needs a manual override, or a more sensitive sensor. The imaging does not quite match my old Mirages, but I do think the bass is cleaner and more powerful. I am quite happy with them.
