Strength:

Real sound with full effect. Very reasonable price.

Weakness:

None, I hope.

I've always looked for great deals. Thanks to the guys at Barretts store, Brian and Scott, for giving me a great deal on this speaker set. I've got a ProCenter C2 and 4 ProMonitor 200's, all brand new from the factory for less than $1000. At first, they accidentally shipped a set of used ones. I disappointingly returned and waited another week for the new speakers. They fixed the problem with the new offer, which made me happy.

I use the system without a subwoofer because my apartment is not so big. That's also why I go for the 200's, to keep the low range. Bass from these speakers is pretty impressive. Overall sound is full and clean. I wish I could turn it all the way up, but my neighbors would be mad.

If you're looking for a greatly reliable product at this price, look no further.

Strength:

Sound Stage, Detail, Natural smoothness, The choice between Black and White colors, Gold binding post, adjustable base.

Weakness:

Absolutely None!

First off I own Def Techs Power Tower 400s,Pro center C-2, and Energy exl-S8 sub, and of course the Pro Monitor 200s. Well I went back to were I bought them to Audition to a new receiver and I used a pair of their Power tower 400s to do the listening. I did'nt like thier Yamaha reciever so I went to another store the next day to listen to the Denon AVR-3300. Well I did'nt feel like packing up my 400s for the audition and I wanted to listen with the same model of speakers I owned, so I brought my more compact Pro Monitor 200s and my stand alone Energy sub. Man was I amazed at how good and clean they sounded. I have always had these hooked up just for rear surround duty. Until now I have never heard their true performance. I set the receiver up as small fronts with my Energy sub and no center or rear speakers since I thought I could decide if I liked the receiver with just the 200s and sub hooked up. I played Fith element on DVD, played a bunch of CDs. Man they sounded very close to as good as my Tower 400s. They had a huge sound stage even though they were about 12 feet apart. I guess I could have bought the Pro Monitor 100s and been fine but the 200s use the same divers as the 400s. I thought they would be a better match for my 400s. I know alot of people think that rear speakers should be Bipolor/Dipolor but I think Dolby Digital and DTS movies are penpointed separate information in the rears so I want it to stay like that, razore sharp and not defuse! I do how ever have mine on three foot stands six feet behind my listening sweet spot and toed in at me. So to make a long story short these are the best speakers for my needs and tastes. And oh buy the way I only paid $400 for mine wich I chose in white. My system is comprised of the following.

Def Tech Power Tower 400s
Def Tech Pro Center C-2
Def Tech Pro Monitor 200s
Energy exl-S8 sub
Toshiba 36" TV
Sony DVP-S530 (DVD)
Sony CP-345 (5 disk CD)
Sony SL-940 (VHS)
Sony DE-925 (Receiver, but will replace with the Denon AVR-3300)
Terk Pi AM/FM antenna
And all Monster Cable interconnects

Happy Listening!

I have a pair of these for my surround speakers in a setup that includes Def Tech ProTower 400s for the front and a Def Tech CLR2000 for the center. The ProMonitor 200s so far have a done a great job as the surrounds with my Dolby Digital DVDs. They could easily be your main speakers if you wanted but I'd suggest getting a sub if you plan to do that. The 200s do pump out a decent amount of bass (when you consider size/price) though on their own. I got these for a great price ($495 Cdn) and am happy I went with these for my surround speakers. A recommended buy.

Strength:

Excellent detail and clarity. Natural "lifelike" sound. Solid build quality and connectors. Full, rich resonant sound.

Weakness:

None

Well, I've had my system for about a month now (see previous review) and the speakers never cease to amaze me.
Outstanding lifelike sound with amazing clarity. I've yet to experience any distortion and I have pushed them very hard and long. The PM 200's add a new dimension to my CD collection, and with home theatre they are unbelievable. As you watch Gladiator, listen to the arrows whistle through the air in the opening battle scene, the clarity of the chains in the tiger scene fight. Listen to the "bank" scene in the Matrix and you'll swear that there are machine guns in your living room. Saving Private Ryan and U-571 are also must haves. As a professional musician, I have a very critical ear and I know what good sound is. Gentlemen, you will not be disappointed, that I can assure you. These are the best speakers I've heard, regardless of price. Whether listening to music or movies, the sound quality is absolutely first rate.
I use them for my mains and surrounds. Current system:

Def Tech Pro Monitor 200's (front and surround)
Def Tech Pro Center 100 center channel
Def Tech PF15TL 500 watt subwoofer
Yamaha RXV 800 Dolby Digital/DTS Receiver
Sony Playstation 2
Philips DVD Player (soon to be uprgraded to Sony 7700 DVD)

I picked them up yesterday. They haven't been properly broke in yet, however they sound great. These speakers along with the ProCenter C2 provides a wonderful soundstage. Imaging is superb. Also, they are very dynamic. I gave them my version of the torture test; Dolby reference volume playing Mission: Impossible, The Shadow (DTS), and Armageddon. I truly recommend these speakers, especially since they are only $450/pair. I got them at a discount at Pecar's in Troy, Michigan. One question; should I get another pair for the rears, or should I get a pair of BPX2 surrounds? Please share your opinions. By the way, I'm using some very expensive speaker cables, Radio Shack $9 per 50 foot roll.

Strength:

Great vocal range...excellant imaging. Very Happy

Weakness:

They is always better but nothing I could find for the price

Purchased DefTech ProCinema 80. Sounded great but wanted something a little better for music. So I upgraded the promonitor 80 I had in front to the promonitor 200. The 80 aren't bad but the difference is night and day. Much better range of sound. The music seems to come alive. I know they is much better out there but on my budget nothing beats these speakers.
