Strength:

Very naturally if the rest of your components have the same quality.
Voice reproduction has World Class!
One of the best basses in Dynaudio history.

German:

Die 3.3 hat ein sehr natürliches Klangbild. Sie klingt nie scharf, aber nur, wenn auch die restlichen Komponenten der Anlage nicht dagegen abfallen.
Die Stimmenwidergabe hat Weltklasse!
Der Bass ist für einen Dynaudio Lautsprecher schon herausragend.

Weakness:

Just only the bass could have a litte more pressure, but that's Dynaudio-Philosophie. Compare it with JM Lab Utopia Series and you will know what I mean.

German:

Der Bass könnte etwas mehr Druck haben, aber für einen Dynaudio Lautprecher leistet die 3.3 hier schon ordentliches. Nur wenn man es mit der JM Lab Utopia Serie vergleicht, wird man sehen, daß hier noch etwas mehr möglich wäre.

Simply one of the best for this price!
If you want more listen to JM Lab Mezzo Utopia but it cost two times more.

German:

Einer der besten Lautsprecher in dieser Preisklasse. Wenn man mehr will muß man schon doppelt soviel ausgeben und da wäre man z.B. bei der Mezzo Utopia von JM Lab.
Übrigens kann auch preiswerte Elektronik die 3.3 schon gut betreiben.

Strength:

High level of coherence, taut well defined bass, articulate open mid, exceptional clear clean hight.

Weakness:

Low efficiency, needs powerful amp and a carful room placement, can't be-wire, price (very high tax in my country)...

Hi,

I recently made the change to the Contour 3.3's from a pair of Totem mani-2's. The totem's had a certain magic, however given that I use my hi-fi as an A/V system(two speakers only...), I wanted a bigger soundstage, So it had become clear that a change was necessary. Enter the C3.3, they have a neutral tonal balance and the ability to reproduce the human voice clear and articulate with no chestiness or other nasties. Piano sound articulate and accurate with the right amount of weight from left hand keys.. The C3.3 has excellent pace, and is agile and adept in conveying the timing in the music. The midrange is open, informative and shows emotion. Upper midrange lack glare, I cannot listen to a speaker that has that quality.. The tweeter is one of the finest I have ever heard, the highs are airy sweet and detailed.

Strength:

Very dynamic. Clean sweet highs, excellent mid-range, voices come alive, very tight and deep bass.

Weakness:

Jack from NYC. Why do New Yorker's feel they have to rip everything apart that they know nothing about?

I've owned these speakers for almost two years. I still love them and have not thought about upgrading to another speaker, because I haven't heard any that are better for under $10,000
Classical music, jazz, world beat, rock all come alive. From the quietest passages of Vivaldi to the climax of the Overture of 1812. The Contour 3.3's handle it with ease. You owe it to yourself to hear these speakers before considering any other in it's price range.

As for Jack from NYC... you don't know Jack!

Strength:

It produces music as an almost lifelike entity

Weakness:

Needs very careful in room placement, and able partnering equipment.

The Contour makes the reproduction of music a worthwile experience.

I do not like dissecting the sound in various sections, like bass, mid and high frequencies, as I feel that when one is aware of a specific section at the expense of others, it normally means that there is an imbalance in the reproduction.

My room measures 6.4 meters by 4.8 meters, and with careful placement, room treatments, and with the OCOS speaker cable, I do not experience excessive bass.
The speaker is capable of exemplary bass reproduction when called for, e.g. especially on various Reference Recordings, Chesky or Sheffiel Lab. When there is bass the speaker will reproduce it very faitfully.

I must share an ongoing experience during which I am taken aback, as I feel the sound so very lifelike that it momentarily shocks me (the goosebump factor!). I wonder whether any of the contributers had experienced the same when listening to their system. The examples are varied and include Frank Sinatra-L.A. is my lady-not an audiophile pressing. Clarke Terry-Live-Chesky and many others.

Overall the speaker gives pleasure- and for me that is the most important factor.

Strength:

Incredible imaging, realism and holographic mid range.

Weakness:

Could be a jazzier cabinet finish.

These speakers have a characteristic that is unique. They sound lean at first, but then you realise that they disappear and the music is carved into the soundstage. The punch they deliver in the midbass is so clean and taught, I have yet to hear any speaker come close on this. As for low end, this goes low and heavy. True bone crunching, house shaking if feed the right signal.
So to sum it up, I have yet to hear a better speaker at any price. The Wilsons sound bigger, but not necessarily better. One caveat: get a monster amp. Krell or Mark Levinson, with a very, very clean source. I use a Mark Levinson 39, balanced directly into a Mark Levinson 336 using all Nordost Reference SPM silver cables. The CD controls the volume. Absolute audiophile Nirvana for me. Does not get any better. Having said that, I was just over at Singer audio. Listened to Krell REFERENCE Monoblocks( $ 150,000.00), with $ 20K CD player and $ 75,000.00 JM lab Grande Utopias. Needless to say, it sounded very clean and assured you there was almost no limit to the power. But, asside from the price tag WOW factor, I preferred my sound considering the set-up.

Strength:

Awesome Imaging, very dynamic and tight, best midrange I've ever heard, beautiful craftsmanship, simple classic styling

Weakness:

Wish the bass went a little lower, but very few do, and they are much larger speakers.

In a word, Awesome. These speakers are nearly everything I was looking for. I like very tight and quick speakers and they Dynaudios fit the bill. The imaging is spot on, and for their size they go very low, (they are rated 29HZ to 21KHz +/-3db). They are only 8.7" wide and 46.7" tall. I purchased mine in Rosewood and the cabinets are very well crafted and beautifully finished.

After I purchased them, Stereophile rated them class A and while I don't always agree with them, in this case I do.

My first choice was the Revel Salon, but my wife wouldn't accept them due to their size and their very modern styling. The Salon had a little better imaging and a little better bottom end, but they were double the price.

The best testimony is that afer 18 months I'm still thrilled with them.

Strength:

FANTASTIC!! Detail, imaging, warmth, craftmanship!

Weakness:

Their not cheap, but then its high end. Low efficiency.

These speakers are truly amazzing. In listening to music I've heard many many times over, I'm hearing things I've never heard before, anything from background singers to a musical instrument.
The soundstage is wide and the sound is warm and rich.
Brings music & movies to a whole new level!!

Strength:

Soundstage, clean highs, great midrange and tight bass.

Weakness:

Can't bi-wire

I took my time in selecting my next pair of speakers. I listened to many more speakers than mentioned above. I had three cd's with me to compare the sound. When I heard the Dynaudio Contour 3.3 I knew my search was over. I did listen to a few more, but knew the 3.3's brought a big smile to my face. The sound was very detail and clear in all ranges. Voices sounded alive, highs were very detailed and not bright, the mid-range really shines and the bass was just the way I like it; not boomy and not wimpy, just tight and detailed. A magnificent full range speaker that anyone considering spending in this price range should listen to.
