Strength:

Sound quality
Robust construction
They do play excellent from classical to rock or any musical genre

Weakness:

None so far, but I would have liked to have the grilles magnetically attached to the cabinet like those found in higher Dynaudio´s series.

I have received from my lovely wife these fine speakers as a birthday present. I have owned them for over a month now. Even though the speakers have not been fully broken-in I found their sound very good just right out of the box. Dynaudio recommends to run them at least 200 hours before make any serious listening. To this date I’m about half the road.
Construction is impeccable. Real wood veneer is absolutely stunning even in the black ash finish of my pair. Side walls of the cabinet are slightly angled towards the rear to avoid any possible internal resonance. Knocking to the cabinet will reveal its stiffness. A solid thuck from this test speaks of robust construction. Pure high-end danish craftsmanship, yes they are made in Denmark. At the rear you will find the tuned port and two high quality binding posts only as Dynaudio don’t believe that whether bi-wiring nor bi-amping is beneficial to the sound.
My listening room is quite open measuring 21ft x 11ft x 9ft (L, W, H) with an adjacent kitchen on one side, however the speakers don’t hesitate to fulfill the whole space with rich sound. I positioned the speakers on Dynaudio’s own stand4 26 inches from the side walls and 38 inches from the front wall. I found that no toe-in was necessary; they provide an excellent image and soundstage aimed straight-forward to the room.
These speakers are rated at 4 ohms impedance and they are not very efficient (only 86dB sensitivity) so they deserve high quality electronics to sound their best. My local dealer had them connected with Accuphase amplification. The sound of that combination is just heaven. However, since Accuphase amplification is out of my reach I paired them with a Simaudio Moon I-3 SE integrated. The synergy with the Simaudio is excellent, but if you want to have the best these speakers could give you, definitely you should match them with Accuphase (of course you have to pay for that).
Sound quality is on par to that of B&W flagship bookshelf Nautilus 805S. To my ears Dynaudio’s new Esotec+ tweeter is as good as the nautilus tweeter found in the B&W’s, but the bass from the Focus140 is much better both in quantity and authority. The Esotec+ tweeter is capable of give you the subtle details of a solo violin or the hard notes from an electric guitar with equal finesse.

These are remarkable speakers that do not choose musical genre and give you truly high-end sound when paired with high quality electronics.

Strength:

Very balanced sound, hard to fault

Weakness:

for the price, none

They receive excellent reviews from magazines such as Stereophile.

I own Focus 220 and have listened to 140 Briefly, 140 are extremely good value. They are 60% of the price of 220 (not counting stands), but keep 95% of the sound quality. 220 go deeper in bass, but 220 also hard to secure on the floor.

On my fluppy and think carpent, the bass of 220 sound muddy, have to drill holes and glue the spikes to the floor to improve the sound.

At the dealer, they are driven by Accuphase integrated and CDP55. I think the sound is better than Dali MS-4 driven by more expensive gears at the same dealer.
