After listening to many floor standing speakers,from paradigm to B&W,frommission to klipch and many others I was very impresed.Excellent highs,smooth
mids and a tight bass make for a very realistic sounding speaker.Nothing is
compramised,sound is true to form with little coloration.It's as if you are
listening to live music.Vocals are clear and the bass is honest,by
this I mean that the lows are not so low that it takes away from the
integrity of the music,nor are they to high to lack the richness.What really
struck me from the get go was the amazing top end.The alluminium domed tweet
presented me with uncomprimised crispness and clarity unriveled by ANY other
speaker in it's class.Overall a true sonic masterpiece!Bravo Energy,you make
Canada proud.I'll enjoy my C-8's for a long time.

GREAT SPEAKERS AT A GREAT PRICE!!!

The C-8's are outstanding speakers. The best word that I can use to descibe them is the american football term used to describe a person that can play every skilled position, Athlete. These speakers are strong in every octave. To get a speaker that sounds better you would have to double or triple the cost. They can convey the soundstage of a large symphony hall and shake the room with explosions from your favorite action movie. This speaker is hall of fame material.

Superb balance - smooth, sweet, open & extended. Extraordinary clarity without excessive brightness or edge. No listener fatigue after almost a year of listening. Overall, better than almost anything I've listened to (B&W, Magnepan, Paradigm, Avalon, PSB, KEF, Sonus Faber, Martin Logan...) at 10x the price & beyond. Extraordinary value.
Downsides? Not enough very deep extension (not much below 35 Hz in my room - I runthe C8's wide open and cross in a sub at 40 Hz in order to hear things like the acoustic bass clearly). And fit'n'finish is not up to the quality of the sound (the black "gloss" finish is really a transparent plastic sheet adhered to the cabinet, and it has separated in spots on both my C8's). I would pay extra for a real wood veneer.

But for the price? Nothing - NOTHING - comes anywhere close.

I'm not too impressed by this speaker, its mostly for music, not for home theater, with that, i mean, its just not loud enough, but for music, its excellent.

I take my words back. They are not really terrific like I thought. They don't deserve 5 star. They are not awful but bright and boomy. Go and buy the Maggies if you pay the list price for the C-8s. I am telling to all C-8s owners. If you pay the full retail price, I feel sorry for you. If not, you are okay. This time I don't give them 5 star because they don't deserve 5. Maybe 3.5 but I will round it since I had them before. However, like I said if you pay full retail they deserve a strong 3. Sorry guys!

Iam sure not going to take any of my words back, the Con-series are nice sounding speakers. No one should pay full retail for any electronic product, and this goes for the con-series. These speakers deserve the best a/v, and they will bring out the best sound. I still think they are much better than the exl-series, performing in Music and Hometheater with authority, but the exl-series is stll a leap ahead of "home theater in a box" speakers. Email me if you would like to purchase any energy speakers, below retail, of course.

I've had these now for about 5 months and running them with a modest home theater setup (Sony GA8/EP9, Boston surrounds, AC300 center, Velodyne psw12), music (Sony XA3). Without repeating too much of what is here, I would echo that for the price, nothing comes close -- I paid about $900/pr in So Cal. Overall sound is very clean, if a bit warm and laid-back. Still, for balance in music & HT is excellent (even before the addition of the sub). Four stars for a solid performance & value.

I bought these speakers two weeks ago, and they are great!!!..listened to them in the store, and they sounded really good, but when I got them home, they sounded even better.
These speakers sound awesome, and look awesome!
Compared to other speakers I have listened to, it sounds like there is no one putting a blanket over them like other speakers I have listened to.
I bought these speakers at Audioshop, good selection there, but very poor customer service..they also had a very poor setup, and didn't have most of their merchandise setup properly so you could compare other speakers quickly...if you live in Ottawa, and want these speakers, I would go elsewhere to buy them due to the lack of customer service, and they are very rude!..but this review is about the speakers, and they are awesome!!!

Bought these speakers @ Audioshop on Bank Street about a month ago, and dealt with a gentleman by the name of Bob, who provided excellent customer service, and provided an excellent price for my C-8 speakers...the review by Don in my opinion must have been done by a competitor, as Bob provided excellent knowledge of the product, and let me listen to the speakers many times without once asking if I wanted to buy them today as traditional salespeople do...now, on to the speakers, they are AWESOME, I purchased the whole package, the C-8's, RVSS's, and the AC300 Center speaker...Next purchase I make from Audioshop will be the Energy exls12 subwoofer...
AWESOME SPEAKERS, NO REGRETS!!!!!!!!!
