Absolutely fantastic speaker package! I have the oddest shaped room for my home theater, with varying 9 to 17 ft ceiling, and my left wall happens to be my kitchen (not exactly ideal acoustics). These speakers fill the whole space with great, accurate, ass-whooping sound!

Price a little high?

I have to let everyone know again how much I love this speaker package. The sound is amazing, the better the sorce, the better the sound. I have lots of inquires, which is good, I love passing around good deals I get, to everyone.Just email me at babar@uniserve.com, I will send you to the suppler!I know a few people who added this system to there bed room, because of its size, works great in small rooms. My room is 15'by20', and still sounds good. The retail price may seem high, but you get what you pay for, below retail, they are a steal.

Strength:

Very Crisp Clean, and accurate.

Weakness:

This is really not a weakness but it does take a few days to really break teh woofers in on the speakers to get the best performance. I left mine running at night with pink noise on them to really break in the driver.

I really enjoy these speakers. I just purchased them for http://www.4electronicwarehouse.com/ 217-224-6171 if you want to call them. I have dealt with this company over the years and they really know their stuff. On to the speakers... The speakers sound great. They are very crisp, accurate and musical. Since I bought them and have taken my Take 5's off the wall and am moving them to another room that I do not use as much. The Encore speakers are yet another great energy product. They are very crisp, accurate and musical to boot. They are a little pricer than the Take 5's but http://www.4electronicwarehouse.com has some great deals and they have them in stock to boot. If you want a good deal on them look them up. I don't think Energy can go wrong right now with their new products. They keep turning out award winning products at great prices. I am truely satisfied. I even like the free bracket that you do not have to buy extra. I found that it worked really good to as well.

Enjoying the speakers.

size, looks, bass, quality.

Great package I decided on after reading loads of reviews here and elsewhere. Went to GoodGuys and compared them to several other speakers. These sounded fantastic with music and movies. Wait till you watch `Saving private Ryan'...you `feel' the tanks roll in as well as the high notes of the bullets hitting metal. Great setup, I am more than pleased with this system. I found them on-line for $1100....and that is delivered to my door.

Strength:

Great looking and sounding speakers

Weakness:

heavy surround speakers, manuals

I just got these speakers a few days ago. I bought them for $1100.00 delivered.
I've been running the Bose AM10 II's w/my Sony 333ES and Pioneer DV414 and they sounded decent, but upon setting up the Encore and playing the same movies. It sounds incredible!
The bass module that comes with the set up rattles my house!
The only thing that is a miss with this system is the heavy surround speakers. You need to either get an extra set of stands for the back or make sure that you attach them to a wall which has solid wood or directly into a stud. Otherwise. You can kiss your sheetrock goodbye!
Oh one more thing! The manual sucks and lacks alot of critical information on the subwoofer and it's settings.
Other than those two annoyances. For the price. This system cant be beat!

Strength:

Build quality, looks, size is perfect

Weakness:

Mounting brackets tough to adjust in tight places

I bought these at a home theater store which will no longer be selling retail. The price ($900.00) was too good to pass up. They were new in the box and I got them without even hearing them because I have a pair of Energy C-6's and like the sound Energy puts out. They replaced my Advent BR series mains, center, and surrounds and my Celestion Sub. I drive them with a Sony 333ES. As soon as I turned them on I was amazed at the sound. Every nuance is evident and the sub is one of the best I have ever heard, smooth, tight and musical. You could spend tons of $$$ more and not get the effect these speakers deliver. Try Saving private Ryan, unbelievable. Super speaker system at any price

Strength:

Size, movie playback

Weakness:

WAY too much midrange on music playback

This is more of a question for those that have owned these speakers for several months - while most have mentioned these speakers need to be "broken in", was a result of this breaking in a more balanced sound? I feel there is far too much midrange in the playback, giving a "AM radio" sound to many vocals and harder rock (The Cult, Tool, etc) music. They are so forward sounding to me that I purchased an equalizer in an attempt to tone them down. For movie playback they are great - no problems here.

The rest of my system is:
Outlaw Audio 1050 6.1 receiver
Sony DVP-C660 DVD / CD Changer using both optical and RCA outs
Technics SH-GE70 Graphic Equalizer
Monster Cable interconnects and speaker cable

Any comments concerning this issue are greatly appreciated either here or via email - Thanks!

Strength:

Size, HT performance, powerful sub, bang for the buck

Weakness:

brackets & manual

This was my first HT speaker purchase. I have a small apartment an needed to mount the speakers on the walls for space concerns. I, like many others, followed the Bose path at first. I was drawn to there small size and HT performance. I checked them out in the store and they played Titanic. It sounded great, but they all sound great. Musically, they sounded like hell. I soon learned that there is no sub, just a bass module. After reading so many speaker reviews I decided to research this a bit more. The only Bose to even consider would be the AM16 for $1500 or so. Some people like Bose, and that's fine. But if you enjoy listening to music, it's awful. You around the same amount, you can much better speakers for the money and have a quality set up.

I checked out the Jamo Apollo ($775) system first. It was small in size, but lacked the bass for music. The low end sounded washed. I then ran into the Boston Acoustics System 6 ($1000). They were excellent. About a billion times better than Bose. The highs were crisp and defined. The only downside was the sub, but still a very nice system.

Then I heard the Encore system.($1300) Whereas the highs and mids were not as defined as the BA's, the overall sound was better. And the sub... The sub is great! For my situation, it is way more bass than I will need. It was a real toss-up between the BA's and the Encore. Both excellent speakers, I found the BA's to be a bit harsh with the mid-range. The Encore's are a bit bigger that the BA's but they carry more bass. It is really a killer system. I have it hooked up to a SONY V444ES. It was a long and tedious process trying to find the right speakers, but for anyone in my type of situation looking to save space and still get a killer system for HT and audio, this is the one.

The brackets were a bit of a pain in the ass, and the manual is basically non-existent. Otherwise, it's incredible. I bought from sounddistributors.com for $1000.

And for you first-timers, bring some music before when you want to test out speakers. Everything sounds good for Home Theater. Don't let the salesperson wow you with The Matrix expecting you to buy. Bring music your familiar with, but try to bring music with strings and female vocals in it. Deftones & Tool aren't going to bring out the subtleties in the speaker. The bottom line is Bose isn't the only small speaker on the market. They market their product extremely well. There are some excellent speakers for less money that crush the performance of Bose. I would strongly recommend the Energy Encore's. The Boston Acoustics were a very close second. Both infitely better.

Strength:

Awesome HT sound, looks, build quality, integrated mounts. Great sub for its size.

Weakness:

Very poor manual.

These speakers sound better every day. I've had them hooked up to a Sony STR-DA777ES receiver for ~3-4 mos. now and the HT rocks! U-571 in DTS almost made me nervous! Sound detail is excellent. I have also played quite a bit of music on these babies and I've got to say I haven't been dissapointed. Eagles Hell Freezes Over - DTS, just close your eyes and your there! They may not sound like Martin Logans, but remember, this is a $1500.00 sub/sat sytem. Highly reccomended!
