ENERGY I've had these speakers for about 1 year now, and for the price I paid they are fabulous. The build quality is excellent, bi-ampable 5-way binding posts, carpet spikes, solid wood construction. Seeing that they have 2-5" drivers means that the low bass extension is not there, i'd say they tail off drastically around 45-50hz. For the ultimate affortable sound system i have invested in the Pro 4.5, Energy EXL1.5(rear), e:XLC(centre), and plan to purchase a 10" sub to fill out the bass. For all you western canada people out there A&B sound is the best place for ENERGY, they are very affordable. For amplification use YAMAHA. Support local companies buy ENERGY!!!

I have owned these speakers for almost 4 years, and they continue to impress me. Very natural sound across a wide range of music (jazz, vocal, electronic pop, etc) and movies. At the time, I compared them (2 at a time, of course) with Paradigm, Mirage, Wharfedale, Tannoy, PSB, Polk, and a few others I can't remember - the Energy's came out on top. I just upgraded to the Pioneer Elite VSX-09TX receiver and fell in love with their sound all over again. To top it off, I also replaced my EC-100 center channel (passable for surround but too weak for AC-3) with the EC-200 which has the same drivers as the Pro 4.5's. I wish I'd done this years ago, but the EC-200 has been very hard to find - like the 4.5, it is discontinued.

If you live in the Vancouver BC area and are looking for an Energy dealer with better prices and service than A&B, I highly recommend CGM Electronics in West Van... I still buy from them even though I live in Alberta!
