The most disappointing speaker I heard at the Stereophile 97. Of course it could have been the Creek and MusicHall electronics that was making the Epos sound bad. Grain, ear bleed, bloat. Just did not sound good. Of course I had been listening to $3000 plus speaker systems all day, but I heard a $10,000 speaker system that sounded just as bad. These are highly regarded by certain stereophile reviewers. As a whole, I do not like the sound of British Hifi equipment, to warm and middy. NAD is the exception here. Also, don't know where Mission speakers are made these days or at all, but they used to have some speakers in the $300-400 range that would put these to shame. Also audtion B&W in this price range or less. |

I tested the following speakers before settling for the Epos 12s: The Pro-Ac Tab 50, Sonus Faber Concertina, Bose, and a few Australian "high end" speakers. I setteld for the Epos because it did everything right to me. The bass region was tight, well -extended and adequate. Why buy a concertina and fork out $2000 for a subs ?????? Voices are fantastic on these fellas.....you feel as though you are at the performance hall while listening. This is feedback is coming from a person whom frequents live musicals and ochestra performances. |
