Strength:

I have had these speakers for about a year and have run them using a variety of amplifiers and receivers. My current power source is the new Outlaw Audio R2160. 2 x 110 watts continuous power, 20 Hz to 20 kHz @ 8 ohms, <0.05% THD, both channels driven. These speakers sing! Beautiful mids with soft highs and purring bass. They do sound better bi-wired in MHO. If you are looking for a bass banging speaker to play your Metal or Rap, these are not for you. But if you want to close your eyes and feel like your INSIDE a venue listening to John Scofield playing Chank, or Julian Lange playing Atlantic Limited at the Savannah Music Festival, then these are it. They produce the closest to the actual instrumental sound than that expected from a speaker of their size with plenty of punch. I added two subs to demo the Outlaws Bass Management System, and it added another element or layer to the lower frequencies when listening to the likes of Nick Moss & Stevie Ray Vaughan, but not totally necessary. They have taken the front seat to my Solioquy 5.2's, Mirage 1090i's, & my Paradigm 9se mkIII's. If you see a pair for sale...buy em.

Weakness:

Not really a con, but more of an observation about personal preference. The finish/look is a bit more on the contemporary side with a metal style grill, with black & gray finishes, versus a wood grain furniture quality cabinet with fabric grills.

After 12 Years of using my 826s till today the best setup for my Denon AVC A1 SE. Powerful Bass, nice midrange and the high tone are clear.
Attention!
50cm range till the next wall they need.

A bright articulate and bass shy speaker that desperately needs a good subwoofer like a REL or a good Paradigm model such as the PS1000, which blends with the JMLab easily. I have owned both the 816 and 826 JMLab speakers. The 826 is only slightly better in IMO. It has a better midrange and slightly better bass. If you have bright or harsh electronics, look out! This speaker will make it sound twice as harsh. However, if used with the right equipment it can give good results.
