Excellent overall balance, deep, wide soundstage. Outstanding value.
Weakness:
Extreme low bass not well defined (what do you expect from such a small woofer?) A thoroughly delightful compact floorstanding loudspeaker. Within its Similar Products Used: Meadowlark Kestrals |

Bass After auditioning B&W, Paradigm, and others, I settled on the Daline 3's. These speakers are clear sounding, as you might envision a crystal bell. Both female and male voices are presented well, with none of the chestiness found in other speakers. Piano sounds superb, the snare drum sounds snappy, and I can hear the nuances of guitar work. The transmission line design extends usable output to the 40-50 Hz range. Your rock recordings won't beat you in the chest, a rather obvious limitation of one 5" bass driver. You will, however, be surprised at the amount of bass that is generated. You might appreciate the tuneful bass - give them at least a foot from the rear wall. As mentioned elsewhere, the strength of this speaker might be the tweeter. Superb treble! No harshness, even at high volumes, in contrast to the Titans. Crossed over at 80 Hz, these speakers take all the lovin' my HK AVR 80 can dish out. One operation note: they are meant to be used with the grills OFF, so make plans to keep little fingers away, or get used to the grills on. Zalytron or Speaker City has these speaks in kit form, along with center channel kits. In my new house (with larger room) I would choose the Daline 6.1's if I was just starting my search. I got mine as dealer demo units at about half price - they had the same clarity that I couldn't afford in new Straus Gold's. Similar Products Used: Paradigm Titan, B&W 6XX, PSB Stratus Golds |
